3. n'Barit Kinmera
Proud, stubborn, intractable, and prejudiced against humans. N'Barit is an alien from the planet Yuul where he once held the revered position of barrigater (think combination judge/governor/priest) but was exiled from his people when he lost his limbs defending the planet from extraterrestrial invaders. (The Yuulani don't care if you're a war hero. If you aren't totally whole of body, you're kicked out.) Was rescued by a bunch of humans (but wasn't grateful about it) and given a cybernetic arm, but he hates technology and objected to receiving a matching leg, so his leg is wooden. He is a religious fanatic, but his fanaticism has waned somewhat over the years. His people are matriarchal, so while he can be accused of many faults, he's very respectful of women.
My notes: Hysterically (at this point), started his existence in a Sailormoon-based RPG as a villain senshi many years ago. Was a double amputee before it was popular. (THANKS A BUNCH, FMA.) Has such a kick-ass art collection, I'm seriously grateful to not have to include any of my crappy old art today! Little-known fact, "n'Barit" is not his first name. It's just the Yuulan word for "barrigater," but everyone up until this tumblr post has always assumed it's his name because among his people, you only use given names among close family. This also applies in-universe -- there are about six people in n'Barit's life who know his name is really "Kinmera." His religion centers around worshipping water, which is a rarer commodity on his planet than ours. (You should have seen his amazement the first time he encountered a sink, and his outrage at encountering a toilet.) He's got alien kung fu skills and a weird energy shield ability that doesn't work so well with only one arm.
