Mateo was somewhat spoiled since he was born, seeing as both his parents were shifters. He came from a long line of alpha shifters, dating back to the beginning of time. He was groomed to become the perfect alpha, doing everything his father did, exactly how he did it. He had a photographic memory, so all he needed to do was see something being done, or read something, and instantly he could do it. Even though he lived a life of luxury he yearned for something more. At the age of 17, that was when he met the alpha of the wolves he heard so much about, Addy. She was the most beautiful person he had ever seen, and they quickly became friends, learning anything and everything about each other. They had fallen in love, and wanted permission from their families to be together, however it was not granted. One night, under the stars in a meadow, they devised a plan to run away. To run away and start a life together.
During the cover of night, they slipped out of their respective homes, leaving nothing but a note for their parents telling them they were gone and not coming back. Matty and Addy spent several nights searching for a place to start their life. Coming outside of a city in Australia, they decided to get married, so when they found a place to build up their family, they would already belong to each other. Traveling further they found a large area of land: enough to make their own Country. The couple decided to build a place where werewolves and shifters could co-exist peacefully. They have a vision, a plan. One that they would follow through on. Over the years they would go into nearby cities, earning money to buy contractors, build houses and stores. Some of the jobs they had to do were harsh and cruel, but they needed the money. They did bounty hunting, became hitmen, and other odd jobs. Along the way they met a variety of people just like them, and offered them homes when they were done with building.
During the process of building, things were halted when Addy became pregnant with twins. They were blessed with a male and a female. Surprisingly each child was gifted into the supernatural world. Alec, following Addy in becoming a wolf and Magdelina following Mateo in becoming a shifter. They would raise their family until they were old enough to start taking care of themselves. Each saying they would help run the Country alongside their parents when it was finished. After allowing the children to go explore the world while the Meadows was finished, Mateo and Adelaide finalized plans. They added slaves to the list of their list of residents.
Mateo is much like his animal self, a Lion. Though they are the King of the jungle, they are often calm, cool and collected. He is playful to a fault, but quiet at times. He enjoys the prowl and the chase. Matty tends to be more of the softer side, taking to being kind hearted and warmer to most. However, when slaves misbehave, or disobey, he can become a real hardass. He knows how to show he is in charge of them or anyone else who disobeys the Royal family. Where his wife is dominating and in charge, Mateo tends to be more observing, calculating his next move.
