One of the things that makes Peter feel safe is people’s heartbeats, because of his superhearing he’s able to hear heartbeats and he’s able to tell the heartbeats of the team and other people he cares about because they all have different heartbeats that become distinct over the amount of time he spends with them, for example Steve’s is always fast and steady whereas Bucky’s is fast and irregular, and Natasha’s is slow but steady. The one that brings him the most comfort though is Tony’s because it instantly reminds him that he’s safe because Tony’s there and it’s also the most easily recognizable because it’s fast and irregular and it skips a beat every once in a while and has a slight mechanical quality to it even after he had the surgery.
