One of my favorite #slowfashion sewing tricks is pulling a thread to find the grain, or to create a line on which to cut. This whisper-fine iridescent silk chiffon was a delight to work with, requiring contestant vigilance with grain, smooth hands and nails, and squeaky clean work surfaces. Hand-basting the dart legs, then basting on either side of the dart stitch line in silk thread turned out to be worth the time it took. With fabric this delicate you don’t want to need to rip seams as the stitches scar and stretch the fabric. #measuretwicecutonce #sewingnerd #couturetechniques #superfinesilk
