You mean the Hyperloop by Elon Musk?

Kind of. Elon musk conceptualized the idea but Virgin Hyperloop One (owned by the Virgin group) has brought it to reality.

So what is actually the hyperloop?

Hyperloop is a type of superfast train which is enclosed in an airtight tube. It can take you from New York to London in just 6 hours compared to 9 hours by flight.

Oh... And how does it work?

Ok... well the bare bones of the concept of hyperloop is that the train should experience “zero or negligible friction”. It does this by removing all the air inside the Hyperloop tube.

I bet it’s expensive.

No, you’re wrong. A hyperloop ticket is super-cheap compared to planes as hyperloop trains work on demand and are super cheap when used on scale.

Why so much fuss about it right now?

That’s because we have already got one entire loop tested with positive results.

Oh... great... but by when will this be commercially available?

Estimates point to 2021 for the first loops to be made.
