And to be honest, I used to do a little teasing to friends who didn't want to get into SnK, though not to a heavy extent and I try not to talk about it once I knew that they weren't ready or didn't want to period.  An example of that would be my irl hypercritical friend who is super picky about anime and thinks they are all bad, and it did piss me off that she wouldn't even give a couple anime a try, but then I figure I don't want any "wet noodles" in my fandom anyway...

That's basically what I ran into a few days ago.  She kinda immediately shut me up the moment I even mentioned the word 'anime' despite her being slightly interested in the plot.  And later finding out it was popular, decided against it entirely, claiming she'd consider if it was less mainstream and not an art style that "uses the same frame fifty times to create lip flaps."  I think that's what I am mainly upset about.  That reasoning doesn't make much sense to me because anime is just another type of animation and if you like animation and the storylines why would you care if it's a japanese cartoon and popular??
