This is just some stupid little rant type thing
Okay, so I've been working on this Falkey / sunstriker / sundragon edit to "stupid song" by Olivia Rodrigo. I just scrapped my entire original edit because I had the lyrics coming from Key's perspective due to me thinking it was all clever to make the lyrics about Falco because of it talking about how the person is "a spark in the dark" and there being a lot of sun related lyrics in it. I then came to the thought that it would be better from Falco's perspective.
"you're a spark in the dark and my clothes all caught aflame" Key could very easily be characterized as a "spark in the dark." He not only is shown to have a very bright personality, but in Falco's world he likely is a new eye opening thing (I think this will become bigger in the next part of season 1) due to Falco having a powerful Tama since birth and being well versed in it while Key seems to lack in the control department, which should be a discouraging factor in his life and stop his drive for Gorotama as he is viewed as lesser in that world, but time and time again he has shown up and worked to make himself fit into the very space that rejected him so heavily. Sunspears are stated to have played on the Bards for years, implying a pattern within the family. If Falco's family all played and made it onto a well known banner team, they would all have to have BEEN good and already have been accepted into that world without struggle. Seeing through both Surya's and Falco's behaviors—them resembling each other's quite a lot—it leads me to believe that their family is uptight and looks down upon others who they don't understand or seem acceptable. If that is the mentality he was raised in, Key's drive and push for his place is a new concept that should've been rejected, but it wasn't. The "and my clothes all caught aflame" would be Falco being faced with seeing Key work through his issues and manage to stay in the school despite the harsh opposition he has been forced to endure.
"I'm a car speeding down the boulevard without a brake" this is kind of similar to the last bit about him having to see Key fight for his place, but this would also be his mindset rapidly accepting this idea and gaining at least respect for Key in episode 9 towards the end. He looked at Key after he showed off Dragon Inferno with a smile. Not condescending smugness or disbelief. It was a genuine positive reaction to it implying his acceptance of this supposedly new concept.
" I'm a heart made of wax and I'm melting in the Sun I'm the thread on your shirt and I'm coming undone" This part may seem like a stretch, but I can see this being as him "coming undone" and letting down this defensive wall of cockiness he presents(as it is shown that while his uncle is talking down to him and belittling him for not meeting his expectations of him, he fires back with smug arrogance and struts away, not letting his composure crumble.) I also like to think that in that breaking of his surface level defense, he finds solace with Key because they have both faced extreme pressure from someone that is intertwined with their personal life and have been torn down as well as scrutinized by their Goyen Sunspear himself.
" I feel right I feel wrong I feel totally insane" I would believe it to be Falco facing mixed emotions towards his (in my ship and headcanon) romantic feelings about Key. Surya's issue with Edina—and with her Key—would likely not be just be a him thing. Their whole family probably all have a bad taste in their mouth towards the Nagatasu's as Edina did cause a major disaster with her Tama and left Surya's face permanently disfigured. Falco more than likely knows of the distaste towards Key's family, so being attracted to him would feel wrong logically, but it would also feel right in the sense that he has found a place with Key that he has likely never felt with anyone else and it's not a bad feeling it's one that overwhelms his senses in this most positive way imaginable. Him feeling "insane" would be a result of the internal battle he'd be facing about his conflicting feelings. This isn't something he's had to worry about in the past so this new, stressful situation could take a toll on him and make him feel like there's an issue with him.
Btw this is NOT me dogging on Surya. I actually love him very much
Also might make a fic of this👀👀👀
