◟˖﹡˙⊰ THE BADGE ⊱ ʿ﹡˖◝
days have turned into weeks, and the winnie’s disappearance has slowly started to be abandoned to the back of the minds of sunnyside’s citizens. regardless of how shocking the news had been, life carried on and everyone just picked up where they’d left off. the investigation has proven to be more difficult than our inspectors and detective baker had initially expected -- with no clues, no theories and slim to no suspects, the case began to resemble a hunt for a needle in a haystack. until the police department received a call that seemed to have the potential to throw the entire investigation around...
a random friday night -- at least, that is what it looked like around sunnyside. just another week running to an end and a much needed weekend about to knock on everyone’s door. for two people, however, that night was marked with a thick, red circle on their calendars -- MORGAN SILVERS and JIM HAWKINS. what was supposed to be a quick and pretty harmless heist on the disproportionate, immense wealth of sunnyside’s most notorious widow, mrs. tremaine, turned into an arrest with an unexpected plot twist in the winnipeg sanders case.
the duo was nearing success when an alarm was set off -- luckily, morgan was ushered out into safety before the police or mrs. tremaine could spot her; jim, on the other hand, had run out of time. the loot wasn’t all that impressive: merely an expensive pen and a pair of fancy looking cufflinks which undoubtedly belonged to mr. tremaine and were ( much like the pen ) laying around the office at the tremaine residence. jim was taken to the police department for further interrogation where he covered for his friend and waved off the heist as a result of an innocent yet stupid bet with a friend he wasn’t going to call by their name. the explanation was lacking persuasive power however much against the inspectors’ expectations, jim brought up a piece of information that ended up being the police departments’ very first clue : THE BADGE...
the badge was a simple, golden-looking rectangle with winnie’s name engraved in it -- loyal customers to the bakery recognised as her work badge -- and it was found in a corner of mrs. tremaine’s office. this badge might be the clue the investigation team needed to get the case going -- something tangible, something that is proves this disappearance isn’t make-belief, something to hold on to. this news was massive and it spread through town like a wildfire. the heist had turned into nothing but a mild inconvenience, collateral damage. there was a new person on top of the detective’s interrogation list, and it is no one else than good old MRS. TREMAINE...
IN SUMMARY : it’s no secret the silver’s aren’t doing all too well nowadays, which is exactly why morgan had set up her own secret agenda of helping out her good old man by gathering a loot with the intention of pawning it. her good intentions -- lowkey inspired by a robin hood philosophy -- got also jim hawkins invested. the heist on the tremaine residence -- more specifically, mrs. tremaine’s office -- had the sole purpose of taking one or two things out of her major wealth she wouldn’t miss anyways. when inside, the duo stumbled across winnie’s badge. as the alarm went off, jim ushered morgan out, helping her escape before she could get caught. he was arrested, but was released again the next morning due to his cooperation in the winnipeg case -- the badge was brought to the table. the badge that was found in mrs. tremaine’s office... how did it get there ? what is the link between mrs. tremaine and winnie ? has mrs. tremaine something to do with winnie’s disappearance ? a new list of questions detective baker needs to find an answer to... if anyone has heard or seen anything peculiar, THE POLICE DEPARTMENT would like to be made aware of it !
