She was officially introduced to the show when ratings began to dwindle, and after many complaints began arising about the nature of Ring and Sally's relationship. Folks thought it was inappropriate that they were together for so long without being married and "living in sin". (it was the 30's after all), So she was brought along to hopefully imply that they were, in fact, married. With her addition to the show, they hoped it would give a breath of fresh air to the cartoon as it gave it more to work with. Episodes containing her can shift from her being a baby to her being a child, depending on what would make the episode funnier

As for Molly herself, she's a daddy's girl through and through, from the singing and dancing, down to the gags! She flips the script on her dad, being the menace while he has to be the one dealing with the havoc she's caused. Despite this, he loves her to pieces and can never stay mad at his "Little ray of moonlight 🌙"
