-The cat known as Appledusk was in a rivalry with a tom called Sunfrost that started out when they were still paws. What he didn’t know was the latter didn’t even know there was a rivalry going on. His first prey was a trout when Appledusk’s was a minnow. He learned to swim way quicker than him, and the brown tom could never defeat him during spars. Sunfrost’s mom even outlived his own mother, Orangeblossom. Who succumbed to green cough, missing his Warrior Ceremony. Sunfrost’s mom, Swanflight lived to see his, which in his eyes wasn't fair.  Appledusk thought Sunfrost was doing this on purpose and grew to dislike him.

-That dislike turned into full out hatred when his secret came out. You see, Appledusk dreamed of being Deputy since he was still a kit and becoming Leader. Mapleshade happened because of the partial thrill of being with someone outside of his clan, and a moment of weakness. Kits were something he should have saw coming, and couldn’t have this mess with his dream. So he was going to slowly distance himself from her and the kits, and took on Reedshine as a mate to “hide his tracks”.

-Then his former mate and kits made it across the river with the help of Sunfrost and Eeltail and got his cover blown. He couldn’t lie to Darkstar, because she took one good look at his kits and knew that Mapleshade was telling the truth. He and the whole clan was shocked when their Leader let them stay, though Mapleshade was put under watch as she “earned her stay”. As for him, the dark-furred cat punished him by stripping him of his warrior name, making him Applepaw once more. He had to do apprentice duties again and was banned from going to Gatherings until three moons. He knew right then and there that his kit hood dream turned to dust.

-He became a pariah in his clan, and his constant complaining that was Mapleshades fault, that she tricked him, and his caustic words towards his ex-family made Reedshine leave him when she carried their kits. And to his displeasure, seemed to be attached to that she-cat, Silverthroat’s side. Of course, instead of doing some major self-reflection, he laid the blame on Sunfrost’s feet. If he didn’t save them at the river, his secret could have been safe, and he and Reedshine still would be together with his dream of becoming Leader being alive. His Clan would still respect him, and not look at him like he was maggot filled dung.

-So imagine his utter fury when it was announced that his ex-mate Mapleshade was not only had Sunfrost’s kits two moons earlier, but Sunfrost himself was named Deputy after Timbershine perished in another Sunningrocks battle, one that was barely won by them. This was the straw that broke the camel’s back and he plotted a way to get back at those who “wronged” him. This plot would have him poisoning Sunfrost’s kits with “sweet berries”, pushing Sunfrost into the Rapids at the Windclan border, and killing Reedshine, framing it as Mapleshade doing it out of insanity after her kits and mate’s death, and much more.

-Fourtantley this plan never reached poisoning his rivals kits, as he was caught telling them that they were a treat by Darkstar herself, along with a few cats that were with her. He was then forcibly taken back to camp for his trial. Applepaw/dusk spat that they deserved it, that he was correcting a mistake that should have never happened, and that they were all fools for treating him like this. Darkstar knew that he might start something if left breathing, so she had three warriors escort him to the border for his “exile” and then have him killed.

-Appledusk knew that what his “exile” really meant, and tried to flee to live another day. In the struggle, he lost his left eye and was bleeding heavily from a neck injury. Blinded by his missing eye, pain, and hate, he didn’t notice that he was being chased to the rapids until it was too late. With a howl of shock and confusion, he went over, and his former clanmates watched him disappear under the foaming waters. When they went back to the camp, they told them what happened, and Darkstar replied that talking about almost kit killer was forbidden.
