#marissa cooper#the oc#ryissa#sumrissa#julien baker#theocedit#mine#a greater showrunner would've taken her depression and alcoholism seriously but here we are#rewatching that scene in 1x08 really made me realize#how desperate she was for an adult to listen to her#as soon as the therapist calls her out on the attempt she drops the defensive act and readily tells her what's going on#unlike the rest of the core four she didn't have a trusted adult constantly in her corner#of course she's gonna be self-destructive and messy or wtv she has no parental guidance!#but the fact that she is so kind in spite of that - kind at her own expense even - is so beautiful#and a testament to the person she is and the person she would've grown up to be#'she's a tragedy' my ass#*
