Gorillaz - "Crystalised" (The XX Cover)
The XX have an excessively casual style of music; it almost sounds careless in the way the melodies meander, but it retains beauty and meaning. Their album is the type that I can put on repeat, and neither be bored, nor over-stimulated/distracted.
The Gorillaz cover of "Crystalised" is a GEM.
Despite the originals ability to work as background music, the Gorillaz exchange the original's driving guitar riffs for some some harmonious piano chords. What better way to exhibit the lovelorn sensuousness that makes the xx's song so widely appealing.
