one of my silly little headcanons is that, while working for Lord English, the Handmaid would sometimes spend brief periods of time living as a normal Alternian troll out of curiosity and boredom.
very early into her role, she met a teenage Summoner and they had a brief red romantic relationship, the only quadrant she’s ever had.
of course, this relationship didn’t last, because she knew that it would’ve gotten in the way of her work. but she often appeared during various events related to the rebellion the Summoner led, technically to get her work done, but also as an excuse to gaze at him again.
