We wrapped up the ACE bracket a couple weeks ago, and I told myself I needed to get this stats wrap up out this weekend before we jump into the TWICE bracket, so here we go!
Off the bat, I think we may have seen our highest ever ranked song this time around - Goblin (Favorite Boys) got a 4.9 from 63 responses, receiving only 5 non-five rankings.
The rest of the discography sees the same gradual trend downward we've seen in the past, but very gradual this time, with only 8 songs receiving a total ranking lower than a 4.
The bracket itself didn't have many upsets, which makes sense considering how many responses we received to the initial survey. Another example of how sample size matters! The most interesting upset was Higher beating UNDER COVER in the semi-finals, but only because of how close all the top ten were. If we looks at just the top 10, it looks like there's a huge drop off in ratings between UNDER COVER and Take Me Higher, which makes the upset seem way more extreme than it was. Looking at the scale of this chart shows that UNDER COVER was only rated 0.16 points higher than Higher.
The other interesting thing this bracket was our first ever absolute sweep. In round 1, Talk you down (ranked 31) received no votes against UNDER COVER (ranked 2). We kept refreshing the polls, especially towards the end of the week, just to see if Talk you down would receive any votes at all, and it turns out everyone just likes UNDER COVER better (rip talk you down).
Next up in our admin picks brackets is my TWICE bracket! They have quite a discography, so stay tuned to see which songs make it into the bracket! -Admin Suji 🌸

The DKB bracket was exciting in a lot of ways - we chose to do DKB as a celebration of one year of kpodcast, but also we ended the bracket with seeing DKB live for the second time! Also, from a purely bracket perspective, we had an unbelievable amount of ties.
Let's start by looking at the results to the survey:
We have a really nice gradual curve right up until the very end where we see a sharp drop off for All Yours. We see a couple of those plateaus we've seen in other rankings, but way fewer ties this time since we got a wonderful 38 responses.
Clearly, not the case with the polls for the bracket themselves. Almost every round had a tiebreaker, and we even had a tie for the tiebreaker for the semi final! Really, this indicates to me that DKB's discography is just really consistent.
There's a very interesting story between rounds two and three and the ties there. Round two had two tied polls - Work Hard and Coco Colada with 7 votes each, and Flirting X and Tell Me Tell Me with 8 votes each. The tiebreakers had Work Hard and Flirting X move on to round three, where they would face each other. Flirting X ended up upsetting Work Hard 10 votes to 6. Since we received a really consistent number of responses to each poll - with an average and median of 16 - we can clearly see the favorites in each match up. BBs like Work Hard more than Coco Colada (barely), but Flirting X considerably more than Work Hard.
You can see a similar trend in our unprecedented three way finale - More Than 100 Reasons and Turning Point both received 10 votes in the initial poll, then 8 each in the tiebreaker. But, once they were up against Sober, Turning Point only got 4 votes and More Than 100 Reasons got 5, compared to Sober's 12 votes.
Here's an interesting look at the round 2 results - we can see those two tied polls, but more interesting are the songs that received the most votes. Sober with 12 and Rollercoaster with 11. Rollercoaster was the number 1 ranked song, and Sober was ranked 8. In round 3, Sober knocked out Rollercoaster 13 votes to 4, making it clear that those who preferred Rollercoaster over Bubble also preferred Sober over Rollercoaster.
We can see the distribution of ratings for Sober and Rollercoaster below, and you can see that those who responded to the survey did tend to prefer Rollercoaster over Sober, but overall they were very similarly rated. Maybe the upset of Sober taking the whole bracket is not as large of an upset as it seems from looking at just the final rankings.
Really, Sober had quite the run in the bracket. It beat out each other song by an average of 9 votes - the most being 16 more votes than Flirting X in the semi final. I'm not sure we've had a single song consistently receive at least 50% more votes in each poll in any bracket. (Maybe a future comprehensive stats post coming?)
Thanks for indulging us as we just decided to do a DKB bracket, and thanks as always for such great participation. It was so fun to see y'all reblogging and campaigning for your favorites. Stay tuned for our next bracket, and vote for which one of Yeaji's favorite groups should be next here!
One of these times I'll get the wrap up stats out in a reasonable time after the bracket ends, but the SHINee bracket is not the one. But, I've finally had some time to put the numbers together, so let's take a look!
We got 5 responses to our initial SHINee survey, which led to some interesting initial numbers
You can see those plateaus at every round number and each half, since there was less data to average out to smaller decimal places. We ended up with 28 songs getting a perfect 5 - almost enough to populate the entire bracket on their own! As it was, we had to get pretty creative with how to seed the bracket.
We ended up calculating a fake weighted average based on the number of responses each song got, which allowed us to ensure we were more likely to include songs that more people knew. This was especially important with a large discography like SHINee has, where some of the older b-sides might be one or two peoples absolute favorites, but the majority of people voting in the polls are less likely to know it.
Similarly to the (G)I-DLE bracket, the number of tied placings in the survey made for plenty of upsets during the bracket. Most notably, our winner Sherlock (Clue + Note) was ranked number 29 but won each match up, including the finals. It was close, Sherlock (Clue + Note) averaged only 61.2% of votes each round, but it still was crowned the best SHINee song.
I think even if there is some disagreement about whether it is the best SHINee song, I think we can all agree it is definitely the most iconic. It's been 12 years since it was released, and there are still groups performing covers, paying homage in other ways, and I regularly see it included in lists of most iconic kpop songs.
Our DKB semi finals are up now! Go vote over there if you haven't already, and stay tuned for the DKB wrap up post. I'll do my best to get it up sooner than this one. Thanks as always for hanging out with us, voting in the brackets, and being patient when things slow down around here. -Admin Suji 🌸
Sorry for the delay - but here's the first look at the Ateez survey results!
While we had the most responses yet to our final poll, the initial survey responses were a totally reasonable sample size. Nothing extraordinary like the Stray Kids bracket, but also considerably more than the (G)I-DLE bracket.
The total survey responses gave us a really nice curve of responses, we don't really see a huge drop off anywhere until the end where the ratings dipped down for most of the Intro and Outro tracks.
We had a few sets of songs that received the exact same rating this time around, the most notable being BOUNCY (K-HOT CHILLI PEPPERS) and INCEPTION both receiving a 4.27 being tied for 8th place. The top ten results really surprised me - I hadn't heard The Black Cat Nero, Take Me Home, or Turbulence before this bracket. Although, to be fair, I'm still pretty new to Ateez.
I also expected more title tracks to appear in the top ten - Crazy Form ended up ranked 16 and Guerrilla ranked 11. Guerrilla actually received more 5 ratings than Turbulence (13 vs 11), but received two 1 rankings, bringing the overall average down.
Overall, this bracket was probably the most fun to watch unfold! The biggest upset was in the first round when MATZ (26) took down WONDERLAND (7), and then followed up by taking down Turbulence (10) in the next round. But, the real story of this bracket is the final match up - BOUNCY vs HALAZIA. At about 24 hours left in the poll it was pretty much tied with about 60 votes, which was about the average number of responses we had been getting. In the last 24 hours of the polls, literally overnight, we got over 400 votes swaying it in the favor of HALAZIA. It was an absolutely wild ride and so much fun to watch unfold in real time (even though we mourned BOUNCY the whole time).
Thank you so much for participating in this bracket! Each bracket has been fun in different ways, and we're excited to get back into it again. The Red Velvet bracket will be returning soon, with a new more complete survey to kick it off. Thank you all for sticking with us as we navigate the blog-life balance and learn what works best for us.
Welcome to the very special Stray Kids bracket wrap up post!
We had an average of 90 responses to each poll, which is pretty close to the number of responses we got on our original ranking survey! We started round one with the most votes - an average of 123 votes per match - and averaged 63 votes per match for the remaining rounds.
The match with the most votes was Charmer v Wolfgang in round one. Round one Charmer received more votes than every other song, and all the matches' combined votes except DOMINO v Super Board (143 votes for Charmer, and 143 votes combined for DOMINO and Super Board). All the Charmer fans really showed out for this one.
The biggest difference between votes was Thunderous v SLUMP in round one at 80.5% for Thunderous and 19.5% for SLUMP. The closest match (excluding the Back Door/DOMINO tie) was Charmer v MANIC in round 3, with 48% for Charmer and 52% for MANIAC. Once again, the Charmer fans put up a good fight but MANIAC pulled out the victory in the end.
There were honestly very few upsets. The higher ranked songs won in round one all the way down. Round two saw Red Lights (13) take down Easy (4) and in rounds three and four MANIAC (6) beat Charmer (3) and DOMINO (2). God's Menu was the number one ranked, and ended up taking the whole bracket. The closest match for God's Menu was in the semi-finals against Thunderous with 53.8% for God's Menu and 46.2% for Thunderous. For all other matches, God's Menu received at least 68% of the votes.
Once again, thank you all for voting! Our next bracket survey is live right now based on your votes. Go rank the (G)I-DLE discography and stayed tuned for the bracket next week. Things might slow down a bit over the holidays, but we'll be back in full swing in the new year!

What makes a good concert setlist? I've been to three concerts this year, and watched the Eras tour movie, and I don't think there's a perfect formula. I saw Twice in Dallas this year, and I'm going to look at their setlist to see what patterns we can identify.
We're going to talk just about song choice, not the videos or chatting, and I'm going to exclude the encore songs since those changed every night, and the solo songs (except POP, see notes).
Here's the full set list:
SET ME FREE
I CAN'T STOP ME
GO HARD
MORE & MORE
MOONLIGHT SUNRISE
BRAVE
First Solo Set
Feel Special
Cry for Me
FANCY
The Feels
Second Solo Set - including POP!
Queen of Hearts
YES or YES/What Is Love?/CHEER UP/LIKEY/KNOCK KNOCK/SCIENTIST/Heart Shaker
Alcohol-Free
Dance the Night Away
Talk That Talk
When We Were Kids
CRAZY STUPID LOVE
As is becoming the norm, I decided to look at MV views and Spotify streams for every song at the concert.
I think any Kpop fan knows a few of these songs - Feel Special, The Feels, FANCY are the ones I would guess - and the average Twice fan probably knows most of them. But, there are some more deep cuts, ones that I didn't know, like BRAVE and GO HARD.
Some other things to note about the concert:
Feel Special, Cry for Me, FANCY, and The Feels were performed with a live band
YES or YES through Heart Shaker were performed as a medley, with only a verse or chorus from each song.
With all that in mind, what can we determine about setlists from Twice's concert?
Off the bat, I see that the graph shows some lulls - GO HARD and BRAVE at the start, Queen of Hearts before the medley, and both When We Were Young and CRAZY STUPID LOVE to finish off the show. I think lulls in the show are important, as someone who is pushing 30, I need time to rest. It also gave Twice time to rest! There were a few songs where the choreography was really designed around them sitting for a while, which is important when you're planning a 3 hour show.
Also, as previously mentioned, their most well known songs were all done with the live band. This took their most popular songs and gave them a new twist and made them exciting. I have never screamed Cry for Me like I did with the live band. It kept people engaged with songs that they've likely heard hundreds of times already. If you haven't seen it, check out Jihyo's incredible a cappella solo for Feel Special.
And then the medley. I loved the medley. I thought it was such a fun and smart way to incorporate some of their older songs. You can see on the graph those seven songs are among the most popular, and Twice has likely performed them hundreds of times in the years since their release. The medley was a way to, again, keep the audience engaged and give Twice a new way to interpret and perform these songs and play with the choreography as well.
I have so many thoughts about setlist choices! How venue and size makes a difference in song choices and interaction with the audience, how each song flows to the next, how recent releases and future teasers affect song choices, it's all so interesting.
How important do you think the order of the setlist is? Do agree that there should be lulls in the set? I've seen iKON and DKB as well and would love to share some thoughts on their setlists as well if anyone is interested!
As always - some notes:
Views and streams numbers were pulled in early November
I used the Cry for Me choreography video views in place of MV views, since there is no MV for Cry for Me
Just straight view/stream counts is not the clearest way to gauge popularity, since older songs will have more views due to age. I may release an updated version of this post with views/streams over time!
I left in POP! since it was released on the Twice channel, and as of writing this post I realize that I should have included Nightmare from Jihyo as well as it was released after the concert
I finally have had a moment to look over our Stray Kids survey results and give you all some interesting findings. Mostly that you all love DOMINO and Charmer. A lot.
First of all, thank you to all who voted! We ended up with 87 responses, which I could not be happier with. By now, you've seen the top 32 in our bracket, but I've also been looking at perceived popularity via Spotify streams and Youtube views.
Here's a look at the top 10 songs by Spotify streams*, compared to the other stats:
It's a testament to how good Charmer and DOMINO are that they have made it into the top ten without any M/V, and were ranked so highly from the survey we did. It also surprised me that Christmas EveL made it into the top ten - how many of you stream it outside of December? I'm a Christmas music year round kind of person, so I won't judge ;)
Here are the top 10 from our survey, compared to the other stats:
From looking at just streams, it really doesn't seem like DOMINO, Charmer, and Easy should be up that high; and VENOM, TASTE, and ITEM have a pretty strong drop off in streams. I think those six songs are fan favorites, maybe not streamed/watched as much, but definitely songs that we keep coming back to and love. And, it makes sense that the title tracks have much higher streams then the favorite b-sides.
When we did our bracket, just the three of us, God's Menu, MANIAC, and Back Door were three of our top four songs (Thunderous lost to MANIAC in round 2. It was tragic they were up against each other so early). It'll be interesting to see how the public bracket shakes out when two of those were not the highest rated, but arguably more well known.
I think this will be my last post on the SKZ survey results, but let me know if there's anything else you want to see from the survey! I have pulled the stats that I think are the most interesting, but I'm always open to suggestions or questions!
Some logistical notes:
I pulled the streaming stats in early October, so there will be differences now.
It's expected that M/V views would be higher than Spotify streams, since music streams from other platforms are unaccounted for.
*Top ten of those songs that were included on our poll
It's officially been one week since you looked at me since we put out our Stray Kids song ranking! We've received 79 responses so far, and I wanted to share some preliminary data.
First of all, the song with the most 5's is "Easy" with 66% of respondents giving it a 5 (52 respondents). This surprised me, as a fairly new Stay I hadn't even heard this song before. Now, after listening to it a few times, I do agree that it deserves that rating.
The song with the least 5's is "Your Eyes", with just 3% of respondents rating it a 5 (2 respondents). I agree that "Your Eyes" is not Stray Kids's best work, but also their main listening demographic is not necessarily the audience that would most appreciate it.
Similarly, the song with the most 1's is "Youtiful", with 23% of respondents rating it a 1 (18 respondents). Again, I think an issue where the song doesn't appeal to all of the listeners.
When calculating the average rating, "God's Menu" and "Thunderous" are the only title tracks in the top five, with "Maniac" and "Back Door" also appearing in the top ten.
Incredibly, "Domino" and "God's Menu" have the exact same average rating.
The top ten songs, by average, span all major Korean albums, with ODDINARY giving us three of the top ten songs, and NOEASY and GO LIVE giving us two each. No surprise, since ODDINARY and NOEASY have the two of the three highest averages as an album, with MAXIDENT rounding out the top three (3.97 for ODDINARY, 3.88 for MAXIDENT, and 3.85 for NOEASY)
There are some other fun anomalies in the data - like "Silent Cry" doesn't have a single two rating - but I'll save those for later! Let me know if you're interested in seeing more data breakdowns, I'm a data nerd and will be looking at it anyway so I'll share if there's interest!
If you haven't filled out the survey yet, what are you waiting for? Spread the word! I would love if we could break 100 responses - that's the agreed upon minimum viable sample size for generalization, so it would give any findings more credibility.
