ok not to be a total know it all gravity falls nerd but i was thinking about the su/gf crossover again, and i realized there is totally a way for this to be canonically plausible, right? so follow me down this rabbit hole a second.
so, OK K.O. proved something with its crossover episode- that a Cartoon Network multiverse DOES in fact exist. That’s really important to make this work. You know what an offshoot of Cartoon Network is? Adult Swim, which houses Rick and Morty! Now, before you run away upon hearing those words, hear me out. not only is Rick and Morty very multidimensional, a certain very important someones appeared in a cameo in one episode- on a plot point that is prevalent in BOTH universes.
MEMORY TUBES.... Bill Cipher and Stanford! So if we follow this logic, and say that the Gravity Falls universe is connected to the Rick and Morty universe, and because of Cartoon Network canon, there is a link to that multiverse THROUGH Rick and Morty since Adult Swim is part of CN, and Garnet was a PART of that multiverse in that OK K.O. episode... Steven Universe stumbling upon Gravity Falls through multiversal shenanigans is entirely plausible! : >
