Candied maple leaves rain over Whistler's traveled pathways during fall and photographic opportunities like this were often overlooked. Us excited Brits, though... We learned a few fun stories on how Canadians celebrate their native maple trees. The symbol that lies as the red heart of the Canada flag is that of a leaf found on the maple tree and this tree is found in every province. While there are ten species of maple, the trees of Quebec are said to produce the best maple syrup. (Is this open for debate? 😆) We learned of a springtime tradition that is a popular activity in Quebec. It's called a sugar shack and they're small wooden cabins built within maple forests. Sugar shacks offer maple-soaked feasts and novelties to visitors who flock in their thousands from March onwards. They gather to eat, drink and collectively celebrate the offerings of the maple tree. We sure can't wait to head back to Quebec to experience this as soon as possible! We did touch the maple trees of BC hoping there'd be a little leak that we could sample but no such luck 😆 #whistler #mapletree #fall #bc #canada #britishcolumbia #roundtheworldmagazine #sugarshacks #tradition #wandering (at Whistler, Canada) https://www.instagram.com/p/COqaaL1sQJr/?igshid=114g0po9hog6g
