Something amazing just happened with a recent bulk order on my etsy store:
“Hi SuessenSpot -- I work for the City of Grand Junction in Western Colorado which is a tax exempt municipality. The carnation pins are part of a new initiative I am spearheading for our Aquatics team members (lifeguards, pool managers, cashiers) Called the Red Carnation society. Our first pool here in Grand Junction was donated to the City by a local philanthropist who famously always wore a red carnation on his lapel. His dedication to aquatic safety in the community came after watching his employees dredge the local rivers with grappling hooks for the bodies of drowned children in the 1920s, and we celebrated the 100th anniversary of the pool he gave to the City this year. The Red Carnation Society initiative is an attempt to spotlight our aquatics team members who embody his spirit of philanthropy, community, and safety in their actions at work, as well as highlight how valuable lifeguards and pool staff are to the community. I hope to be awarding ten or so of these each year for as long as I can, so please don't stop selling them! Thanks so much, -----------”
Absolutely thrilled to be exactly what they were looking for, and to be spreading my annual reaches to a new state!
So far, I get to the one of THOSE SHOPS for organizations in Illinois, Colorado, North Carolina, and Oklahoma. Who knows who else is on the horizon? :D
