Okay, so I know a lot of you have probably been waiting for my mafia AU. Well I was working on it with my twin and this is what we have so far.

18. If you could go back and revise one of your older stories, which would it be?

Oh man, I want to revise STJMS soooo badly. I don’t really like anything I wrote before YHIMC, but I’m willing to let the others be trash, but man, I’d really like to revise STJMS. The first several chapters are so bad, I’m so embarrassed, and I don’t want to just say “don’t read it!” because I am proud of YHIMC and you have to read STJMS to read YHIMC….Sigh. I actually might rewrite STJMS, to be honest. Or at least the first few chapters.

5. What is an image/set of images that you’re particularly proud of?

I have an actual answer to this one and I’m totally hyped to finally have a chance to brag about this. Okay: In STJMS and YHIMC I did two intentional sets of images. One was that I tried throughout the whole thing to repeatedly use sun and warmth imagery for Newt, and cold and moon imagery for Hermann. Especially from Hermann’s perspective, b/c thats how I think he thinks of them. And I don’t know if anyone ever noticed and I wanted to point it out b/c I actually put a lot of effort into that…

and secondly! I was very evil in STJMS! I knew before I started writing it that Newt was going to run off to Germany and that Hermann was going to be struck by a car, so there’s a ton of foreshadowing and car crash imagery in STJMS. My favorite is in chapter 21: “Hermann falls silent, still watching him with eyes that are remarkably like a deer’s when a car is heading at it at high rates of speed.” I cackled evilly when I wrote that. I was so horribly pleased with my car crash foreshadowing, and I’m not sure anyone has noticed that either. so yay, I get to point it out now, ehehe.

2. Favorite piece overall?

Uh?? That’s?? Hm. I really enjoyed writing them as girls in We’re Revolutionaries Now, but then YHIMC means a lot to me just because it’s so long and my writing improved a lot and tho it definitely has flaws, I think it’s a fairly solid story, and I was really proud to have written one long, consistent story…and also I got to talk about mental health and anxiety a lot, which I like to do, and which probably helped me work through some of my issues. and I got so many lovely reactions to it, and beautiful fan art, and it was really fun and encouraging to do. So yeah, YHIMC :)

4. Which has the most “you” in it, however you’d define that?

What if I said the serial killer au, how would you all react to that.

No, but it’s probably Check Outs. Because I really really love libraries and books, and I want to be a librarian, and the setting is all based on stuff from my childhood. The city is like the area my grandmother lived in when I was growing up (actually the name is really stupidly based on what I thought the name was when I was kid, even though I was mistaken about that) and the library is based off a place my dad and mom went to when they were kids, and even though I never went there myself, they told me about it when I was young and it captured my imagination. Plus, even though it hasn’t made it into the story, the way that I imagined Hermann deciding to be a librarian is shamelessly based on how I made that choice. 

But really I have a terrible habit of putting my own terrible habits and quirks into my characters, so all of them have a lot of my personality (and stupid sense of humor, lol)…even the serial killer au ;)
