Nonsense! This is not a strange ship at all!
I honestly feel that a lot of characters who initially seem mismatched can turn out to be an interesting combo. It’s fun looking at two characters and finding what connections they have and how their personalities would play off each other. And honestly, Hajime and Chihiro would easily be friends under any given circumstance really—so it aint that hard to imagine romantic feelings developing between the two eventually given the right place and time!
Both Hajime and Chihiro need a lot of self-assurance—neither has a great perception of themselves. However, where Chihiro waits to be approached, Hajime, luckily, does not, and it’s that slight extroversion that can spark a friendship between these two. It’d be a softer sort of friendship with Chihiro slowly opening up to Hajime and Hajime doing the same. I think once they know more about each other and their shared feelings of incompetence (Hajime not being good enough to be an Ultimate and Chihiro not being masculine enough to be comfortable with their identity), the two will take a lot of solace in each other. It’s not a dramatic relationship—it’s a growing tree that takes time but is in no rush and simply allows itself to bloom on its own pace. It’s the type of relationship that comes easy and you blink to find that months have gone by without realizing how deeply you’ve become a part of each other’s lives. It’s the friends to lovers to a T. And boy aren’t I a sucker for this trope and perhaps now for this ship too ^-^<3
