Over the past 5 years Bloc Weekend has lavished music lovers with some of most exquisite showcases of musical genius. From Aphex Twin to DJ Zinc, Bloc has succesfully captured the imagination of the entire electronic music world, with lineups that explore the vast spectrum of underground sounds. This March Bloc returns to celebrate its 5th Birthday with a lineup that promises nothing less than perfection.
After headling at Bloc in 2008, Aphex Twin is down to make his way back to the head of the table at Bloc this year. He is joined at the top of the bill by Dubstep high flyers, Magnetic Man. Following an explosive 2010, the bassweight trio will no doubt be one of the highlights of the weekend. Frech Techno pioneer, Laurent Garnier, takes the other headling spot as the final act of Bloc 2011.
In true Bloc Weekend style, over the course of the weekend artists from all corners of the music world will be stepping up to do their thing. Once again, Subloaded is back, with the likes of Pinch, Mala, Loefah, Untold, and Joy Orbison taking control. This is backed with sets across the weekend from Jamie XX, Toddla T, Venetian Snares, Floating Points, Roska, and Daedelus. This list only gets better and better....
One night that is sure to inspire is the Mary Anne Hobbs takeover. After leaving Radio 1 in late 2010, Mary Anne has taking up the position of lecturing at Sheffield University, however alongside this, she has taken the job of curating a lineup for Bloc that is simply mind blowing.
Tickets for Bloc Weekend's 5th Birthday are still available. If there ever was a year not to miss out, this is it.
