Sublaser is absolutely doomed to fail. There's just genuienly no world where they can work out.
Subspace is egotistical and can hardly love anyone but himself, and even if he did somehow catch feelings for Hyperlaser, he'd still value his work and country more than anything and be constantly neglecting him. Not to mention, Hyperlaser wants to leave at one point. Subspace would literally never leave Blackrock, so it'll only end in then getting split up regardless. Hyperlaser could NEVER be his everything, no matter how you look at it.
And on the otherhand, it's HIGHLY unlikely that Hyperlaser would love Subspace anyway, and I reckon if he did then he wouldn't ever make an advance on it, and probably even feel shame in his feelings. Hell, it's Subspace. EVERYONE should feel shame for liking Subspace. That disgusting freak. YUCK!
They have such contrasting goals that a relationship just couldn't work with them. Subspace wants bigger and better. Hyperlaser wants things to slow down and relax. We all know Subspace isn't going to stop being a little freak, so that'll leave Hyperlaser either forced to move on without Subspace in his life or keep living this job of suffering, which sounds pretty hellish.
All of this is even worse considering the fact Subspace is LITERALLY DYING. like. Even if they somehow, SOMEHOW came up with a compromise, they're living on borrowed time. They won't be able to stay together forever because Subspace is going to fucking die.
It might seem fun in the moment to banter while doing work or running errands together, but at the end of the day, this will only ever be just a memory for Hyperlaser.
I'm shaking. I can draw my Sublaser slop and portray them in a super lighthearted manner but at the end of the day, they ARE doomed to their core, and slightly toxic at that. As much as I try to distract myself from that reality, they are just fucked up and doomed to fail. Nothing can change that😿😿😿
