how do you like Japan? what's your favorite thing to do or place to visit? i've never been outside of the US so i'm curious about it!
Hey! Thanks for your message!
I really like living in Japan. This is actually my second time living here! I stayed here for 6 weeks about 4 years ago, and now I’m back! This time for 5 months so quite a bit longer. Both times have been in Tokyo and I love this city so much! I loved it so much, I just had to come back! Since I’ve only been here 10 days so far this time around, I haven’t had a ton of time to travel yet, but there are so many wonderful places to go just within Tokyo! I mean there are 38 million people here so there is really everything. The transit is so convenient too and there’s so much to do 24/7. It’s a city that never sleeps which I really really love! I’m hoping to travel to Osaka, Kyoto, Kanazawa, Kamakura, Enoshima etc. There are so many places I want to go!
Getting here for Sakura season was a real blessing, since I got to do lots of Hanamis (cherry bossom viewing picnics? I guess?) in Meguro River, Ueno Park, and Yoyogi Park. There are cherry blossoms pretty much everywhere though, not just in parks, so it’s absolutely stunning. One of my favourite things to do in Tokyo is just walk around! No matter where you walk, you’ll find something interesting. I’ve been walking about 20000 steps a day, exploring the more off-the-beaten-path areas! More famous places like Harajuku (the side streets are more quirky than the more famous takeshita dori, but you’ve gotta do takeshita at least once!), Shinjuku (the world’s busiest train station!), and Shibuya (amazing shopping!) are also really fun but so crowded this time of year. In the summer there are so many fireworks festivals and those are so fun!
Best thing is definitely the food!! So delicious and affordable. It’s usually way cheaper to eat out than cook here. Tokyo is very efficient, clean, and safe, and there are endless museums, temples, parks, shops, restaurants, and cafés to explore. I mean sure, it has negative points too (every place does!) but I still really enjoy it here <3
