I'm working on a oneshot right now where Lavellan goes to Skyhold to see the damage to the rotunda for herself and... It's turned into me processing the DA4 teaser trailer.
I am (obvs) SUPER excited for DA4 and am thrilled with the trailer. But, after TGA, I had this weird feeling of almost sadness that I couldn't place. While I was writing, Riallan's emotions and grief over the rotunda fell onto the page, and I realized why.
That teaser was the very first time I looked at Solas and saw a villain. I saw him, cried, screamed about how beautiful he was, and then cried some more because...
The new protag will ONLY know Solas as the Big Bad ™. A whole new wave of players will only know Solas as the Big Bad™. And while the dramatic irony of that for OG players will be *chef's kiss* it also makes me incredibly sad.
