Sorry, but I just donāt buy that last paragraph at all. We ought to do our part, sure, but not because itās other people who happen to be in a group that we happen to be in. Do it because youāre a decent human being. We ought to keep explicit stuff on the down-low, thereās no doubt about that, but itās fundamentally not our responsibility, and the idea that someone would be held responsible and blamed for something they had no relation to and could not have reasonably have prevented, only because theyāre part of the same multi-million-person large group, seems patently backwards. The fact that I live in the U.S. does not make me personally responsible for the failures of the war on terror, certainly not when Iāve been openly opposed to them, and certainly not when I canāt even vote yet. The fact that I make youtube videos does not make me personally responsible for all the crazy shit that gets put on youtube. And being a brony, or for that matter an internet user in general, certainly doesnāt make me personally responsible for the fact that there is porn on the internet.
tl;dr: give me any real power over the internet or, heck, give me any real power over other people for that matter, and then weāll talk about how I can fix everything. Until then Iāll settle for flagging shit when I see it.

And yes, there is some responsibly on the parent to make sure that their kids are aware that the internet is not 100% appropriate for kids. The fact that there is porn of literally everything on the internet is NOT an unknown fact. If the parent lets their kid use the internet without ANY parental supervision or guidance, then theyāre idiots. Itās like showing some kid the DVD shelf and saying āhey, you like movies, right? go ahead and pick one!ā, ignoring the fact that Pulp Fiction might accidentally be right above the Disney shelf. Forcing the parents to take responsibility isnāt shifting blame, itās pointing out whatās flatly rational.Ā
Iām not saying the people posting the artwork donāt have some responsibility, either, though. Proper tagging is always in order, and I get annoyed when mature content is incorrectly tagged.

but there's two different ways you could interpret 'being responsible for' something: taking control of what you can and doing what's in your power to make the best of it, and then that other way, feeling responsible for what others have done, which is essentially very difficult and pointless. Work with what you got! Just don't pass up opportunities to do so. I want to make clear that I don't consider someone responsible for another's deeds or misdeeds, right? Just saying that if you call yourself part of a group, you are part of that group, you know what i'm saying?
