"what do you mean you mean you can't come" you could see the tears welling up in her eyes as you placed a curl behind the curve of her ear. "Well this morning my mom called and she wants me to come see her before she moves and, tomorrow is the only day I can. I know it's not fair because we've been planning this for a month but, what can I do it's my mom." you shrug but, take her hand intertwining your fingers. "I know, it just sucks." she rests her head on your shoulder and uses her other hand to wipe away any tears remaining on her face. "I know I'm overreacting it's just I was really looking forward to my birthday with you." she squeezes your hand tighter in her lap. "Baby" you tilt her chin up then slide your hand to cup her jaw, you can't help but smile at her when the immediate response is to nuzzle into your hand. "I love you and, it's OK to be a little upset about your birthday. I know it's not the same but tonight let's just stay in, watch Matilda, and be together. I just want to be close to you". She nods and finally looks up at you with a smile threatening to appear on her lips. "love you" the words just slip out, you can't help it, it's like the feeling just fills you up sometimes and you just can't help but let a little out in the form of little looks and I love yous. "love you too" slips out between her lips, and as you bend down to kiss her you are finally rewarded with the full smile you know she has.
