ok. ok but get this. jack calling out to castiel. castiel appearing to him a la lazarus rising but with less sparks. castiel being like “who the fuck are you” (HEY REMEMBER WHEN CAS WAS SO NASTY TO EVERYONE... good times) jack; “i’m your son” cas; “with all due respect,,, i’m gay” but jack was like, “no it’e true i rebooted the world when i killed chuck” “who” “but i can bring it back. bring our family back together” “family???” and jack puts his hand on cas’ head and brings his memories back and shfhjsjghs and the first thing that comes out of his mouth is a breathy “DEAN” so anyways; the next scene is cas looking longingly at dean fixing a car like That Scene, you know with dean raking the leaves, YOU KNOW THAT ONE—and the camera pans to jack by his side, patting his back emphatically. cas smiles, looking a little rueful, “he looks happy.” jack; “maybe not entirely.” “what do you mean?” “he misses you, cas.” in the background, dean lets out a curse when he bangs his head on the car and cas’ grins even wider, his body recalling the sweet ache in his chest (or maybe it had never left at all)
anyways the ending would be dean bumping into a blue-eyed, trenchcoat-wearing, devastatingly handsome stranger on his way to the diner. they chat for awhile and Stare At Each Other, until dean clears his throat and was like, “well bye” and cas says, “goodbye, dean” and they all go their separate ways until UNTIL UNTIL dean stops and get this weird look in his face and he turns and calls out to cas, “hey you wanna maybe... get burgers?” and cas. JUST SMILES.
