📼 Put Your Records On - Corinne Bailey Rae
Hello, it’s Thursday today and I haven’t slept yet! I did some planning for Spain—by planning I mean making lists, and did some sketching–it’s been a long time since I’ve finished drawing anything. I’ve been thinking of posting this for a while now, but I keep forgetting and I didn’t know what to write yet, and to get this over with I’m going to talk about the things I’ve done over the week, some of them had me ticking boxes off my bucket list!
I 𝒄𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒎𝒚 𝟐𝟎𝒕𝒉 𝒃𝒊𝒓𝒕𝒉𝒅𝒂𝒚 with my friends eating pizza, Korean bbq, and ice cream. I rarely see them these days since most of us graduated and are looking for jobs, some are still in uni so the catching up was like a breath of fresh air. I didn’t realize how lonely I was without them. They 𝒈𝒊𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒎𝒆 books (Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami and Murder is Easy by Agatha Christie), a bookmark, a brownie, and a pastry. The tea set in my picture was actually also a gift from my mom, I was touched that she knows I enjoy weird stuff like this. I also 𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒎𝒚𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇 𝒂 𝒑𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒕 𝒇𝒊𝒍𝒎 𝒄𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒓𝒂 for such a cheap price! The day after, 𝑰 𝒈𝒐𝒕 𝒂 𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒐𝒐! The clouds are from Rene Magritte’s The Curse, I love his works; the figure on the left is the Kilometer Zero in Manila, it means starting point, so whenever I think: I have so many things I want to do, but where should I start? The answer is I should start here, where I am; the right one was just built behind the KM 0 and I really didn’t know what it was until I looked it up after getting inked. Oh well, even that is an achievement: not getting too attached to meanings. I’m so happy not just because I designed it myself, but also because as a first tattoo, ribs would be a bad choice. It hurt like hell and I will proudly display it as a feat of bravery. My thing with tattoos is that I thought getting one would be enough, but until now I’m still browsing cute designs and I can’t wait to get another one; it never ends. I had a small date with my boyfriend the next day, we claimed my film SLR which we had fixed, walked around Quiapo, and 𝒘𝒂𝒕𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒅 𝑾𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒀𝒐𝒖 in our local cinema. It was such an experience since we literally had the cinema to ourselves, no one else was watching! On Monday I had to wake up at the ungodly hour of 6am to finally 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒎𝒚 𝒅𝒓𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓’𝒔 𝒍𝒊𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝑰𝑫, I was very sleepy that when I got home I died on the couch. I took a rest for the next two days, until now!
