5.09.2025 // The day after exam 🍁

Exams went well (thank goodness 🌿). I took most of the rest of the day off afterwards—though I did make a half-hearted attempt at working on my dissertation while sitting on a mute call with a friend who was doing PhD admin. Not much progress there, but I did manage a bit of admin myself and some tidying around the house. 🌾

Today is still very much a recovery day, but my focus is shifting back to preparing for my next exam on the 15th. I’m planning to take a steady 9-to-5 approach over the next few days, balancing rest with productivity. In between now and that exam, I’ll be in London for 48 hours for a symposium and an in-person supervisory meeting 🫡. It’s definitely a tight turnaround, but I’m looking forward to the symposium, especially since I’ll get to see some people I really enjoy spending time with.

Today, we observed some fungal collonies that we cultivated for 3 days. Under the microscope at 40x, these tiny structures are yeasts!

We collected the sample from the university water fountain using a swab. Next, we brought the sample to the microbiology lab, then placed it on a Petri dish, providing optimal conditions for growth. This was the result. ꉂ(˵˃ ᗜ ˂˵)

To all wondering if I quit: I DID NOT!!

One does not quit when things get hard or they don't go your way.

Truth is I'm finding my way in the tech industry and I have not stopped working on myself and my goals.

I'm currently working on finishing my bachelor's degree and I hope to post a lot about it here.
