how's your school year going? any tips for making studying an enjoyable part of your day and keeping the productivity going?
im struggling a bit, to be honest. my energy has been really low lately because i haven’t been consistent with my medication (very bad, i know) so hopefully once i get that regular again i’ll be okay.
i don’t really know how to make studying enjoyable per se, but i do know how to make it less of a tedious burden.
how to make studying suck less & maintain motivation
if you smash out 6 hours on the weekend but dont do anything over the week, you’ll never really get anything done, and youll get tired & burnt out over the weekend really quickly. instead, try to do a little bit each day.
find a study method that works
i personally use the pomodoro method, but some people find other ways that work better for them. if you can make better use of your time, your studying will be more effective.
some people can non stop study for 6+ hours. i cant. every two hours (or less even) try and stand up, stretch, and drink something.
study in a group, outside, or away from your normal space
i usually study at my desk because its convenient, but i’m also less productive bc i get distracted. i tend to do the most work when im in a coffeeshop or even in the library with friends. just because its a habitual space doesnt mean its the most effective space.
sometimes, you just gotta force it
with motivation, sometimes, if you can, you just have to force it. i dont have any motivation to study philosophy ever, but i know that if i dont i’ll fail the course. i usually plan a little prize for myself, like 30min of pokemon if i finish this assignment, or an hour break if i do three chapters.
its okay if you cant do it
don’t beat yourself up if you simply can’t do it. try again in an hour or two, or even the next day. it means you need to rest, and if youre not going to be able to focus at all, you’re not being effective with your time.
i hope some of this helps!
