Week 4 Day 4 of the #studionpl #maker camp: we had a super busy day today, but our #students were champs. We started out with A Very Careful Game of Blindfold Tag: challenging pairs of blindfolded students to tag five teammates. We timed the first pair's attempt; the next pairs had to keep building on the strategies they saw and devise new, efficient ways to work together to beat the last pair's time! Afterwards, students from @mcgavock_high 's camp came and filmed us working on a 2-Stick/2gether Team Building Challenge with the @3doodler #3dprinting pens: they could create any shape but had to brainstorm and divide up the tasks under a 20 minute timeclock. Lastly, we started working on the #structuraldesign challenge, to build a structure with the #3doodler pens that can hold our largest student, with each table developing a building proposal...choosing the strongest elements from each proposal as a class...and designating table captains to guide the class build, which they started. I was so proud of our kids for their initiative in taking #leadership roles, and for the thoughtful questions they asked each other regarding material usage, structural design needs, and effective time/task management. It's a project with a lot of parts on a big scale they haven't attempted before, so I know it seems challenging to them...but it's really uncovering buried talents and hidden leaders, and that's an incredible growth they can also see.
