A small gust of chilly air blew past, causing Nightmare to raise his scarf to better cover his nose and mouth.
The last thing he needed was to get sick.
He had a gig coming up in two weeks, and he had no time for inconveniences.
It was the beginning of Autumn, the leaves had started to change with various hues of gold, reds, oranges, and even still green. The sun had begun to set a little earlier than before, leaving them with beautiful golden rays and pinkish purplish skies.
“Pink..” He whispered to himself. He couldn’t help but smile. The pink hue reminded him of his precious coffee boy. The blush that would cover his entire face when he was flustered and embarrassed.
Often times it would dust his cheeks on mornings after an affectionate night.
However, there was a time Nightmare wondered if Ccino would have a permanent blush on him with Killers suggestive comments.
Nightmare rolled his eyes as he continued his way to their flat.
Killer seemed to enjoy getting a rise out of him and Ccino. Seemed delighted with himself if he could manage to get a reaction.. especially if it involved blushing.
“Hm..” The violet skeleton hummed as he mused to himself.
Killer was one who didn’t blush often. At least that’s what Nightmare felt.
It was hard to get that man flustered or catch him off guard. But when it happened.. Killer had the most beautiful hue of red appear on his cheeks.
Nightmare knew the other would disagree. He always says “It’s just a common color..”
And even if red is a common soul color.. no one has the same shade of red that Killer has.
His is vibrant and bright.
He often had to remind Killer how much he liked his blush. It appears as the time has passed Killer had started to believe him.
Nightmare looked at his hand and remembered how their blushes felt against the palm of his hands.
Being half fire elemental meant he had a higher body temperature than most skeleton monsters, and was able to tolerate heat better than most. Such as being able to touch a hot plate without getting burned or feeling pain.
And yet..
He could feel the warmth of their blushes on his hands..
He never knew something so simple could bring him such happiness.
He talked to his brother about this, and Dream mentioned he experienced the same with Cross.
“Maybe it’s as if we’re feeling their love!”
Dreams voice resonated in Nightmare’s skull. He never believed in none sense like that but.. he would allow himself to believe that one.

He was so tired, but his job was way more bearable with the appearance of nightmare on set. He couldn’t help but admire the actor; he watched all the movies he was included in, and he was a fan of them all! And he wouldn’t really admit it, but he had a crush on two actors in some movies. He was head over heels for nightmare, and he maybe had a little something for killer as well, but I mean, he just thought he looked attractive. Nothing more, nothing less, right?
“Um- ccino?”
Ccino almost jumped away at killer who just got behind him-
“Oh sorry- just here to ask if you could make some more coffee? Nightmare spilled his all over my clothes- “
His pants and shirt were covered in the dark liquid, but his jacket was the most splattered out of it all. The director was going to tear his skin off- not that he had any to begin with.
Ccino quickly came back to his senses and answered “of course! I-I’ll get going” killer paused and smiled; the other was probably daydreaming before- his face was priceless, maybe he’ll get it recorded for nightmare to see another time.
His grin slowly turned into a saddened look when he left to his dressing room. He did notice how tired ccino was over time, and college must’ve been way too much for him to handle with his shifts. He looked away, not that he could really help the poor guy anyways.
Nightmare didn’t know what to think about killer, but their relationship wasn’t more than friendly, unless you counted flirting as something more than that. Killer’s shenanigans were always a pain to bear, but he did notice another monster who looked at him pretty weirdly; he didn’t really mind, he was used to it by now.
Ccino didn’t know if it was worth asking nightmare out, not when the other didn’t even seem to pay attention to him-
He hid his face with his hands, when he stumbled at killer who was walking downstairs. He tried to stop the other from falling, but sadly ended up falling with him instead- killer barely was able to stop them from going through another pair of stairs when he heard a scream. He quickly looked at ccino who was trying his best not to whimper, holding his left leg tightly.
Killer quickly got up, and tried to hold him up to walk him off to help. Ccino didn’t really understand what was going on, so he muttered- “w-what’s going on? Who are you-“killer held the other by the waist, noticing that the other would clearly not be able to walk with his leg- “I’m sorry, it looks like you fell pretty badly didn’t you? It’s okay, it’s me- killer”
Ccino just realized that the other was basically carrying him around like a princess, and his face suddenly lit up with a blush- “ah- I- I-“he quickly hid his face in shame and whispered “I’m so sorry”.
Killer looked at him and grinned tenderly “hey, don’t worry about it-“ ccino pulled his hands away from his face, and avoided the other’s eyes, his cheeks covered with a deep hue;
what in the world was happening to him?!
Killer managed to get to sci and asked if he could help. The other examined ccino’s legs and told killer to wait out of his office for a while.
Killer sat next to the door, anxiously waiting for the other’s results- ccino looked quite in pain, so he probably got badly injured!
Killer crossed his arms; there was no way he could take care of that injury by himself- He barely even cared about his own sleeping schedule! What if he didn’t have enough money to pay for his medical care? He was already running low on money- if he ever had to pay for something, he’d ask sci to put it on his bill instead.
Nightmare noticed the other’s anxious expression, so he sat next to him, and asked “what’s wrong?”
Killer looked at him, it was stupid- he was stupid. Just how long did he try to hide his crush on the intern? It was useless to even do so anymore, because he will finally get a hold of himself and properly ask ccino out!
He looked away from nightmare, then whispered- “it’s just that- the intern and I fell down the stairs, and I think he broke his leg. I- I don’t think the other can pay for the healing night-“
Nightmare could read the worry on killer’s face. He looked away, maybe he did have a crush on killer, but he was glad the other told him about the intern, even if it wasn’t done directly, he could see that he did like him a lot
He sighed, maybe he could help them both?
“I’ve heard that he works in a nearby coffee shop too- the guy clearly doesn’t have time for himself-“nightmare was talking, but even he felt bad for the poor intern. If he had to work so many jobs to take care of himself, a broken leg would be quite devastating.
Killer paused. He didn’t quite understand what nightmare wanted him to do with that information; should he go to the coffee and keep him company? Should he advertise it? No, better than that, he was going to do all of that, but he was also going to help him directly!
Killer smiled, then got up- “well, we have some acting to do a bit later do we? Can’t be sitting here when the director clearly awaits us!”
Nightmare wanted to object- wasn’t he waiting for the intern’s results? But the other just grabbed him by the hand and dragged him to the set anyways.
Just what is going through his head?!
…..
Ccino got out of sci’s room, barely able to hold back tears. How stupid and how dumb can he get?! Sci lend him two crutches so that he can walk, but he clearly needed more than that-
He sat on a chair, defeated. He couldn’t work for a very long amount of time, and he knew what that meant.
His cats, his poor little babies- did he really need to give them away?
Or can he just not pay for clothes? For food?
He shook his head- no, that wasn’t possible, he couldn’t do any of those, but he desperately needed money- what could he do? Just, what did he do to ruin his living?!
He sobbed in the empty spare room, he couldn’t hold back his tears. He couldn’t even serve nightmare’s daily coffee- he cried so hard that he didn’t even hear killer entering the room. Ccino was obviously oblivious to his surrounding, so he immediately flinched when he heard killer’s voice.
“…ccino?”
Ccino stopped crying- why was killer here? Did he search for him?
“Is your leg okay?”
Ccino paused, his face was full of tears, but he managed to smile-
“It’s… not really the best state it had been into-“
Laughing it out turned to be the bad decision, since killer’s face got even more serious. Ccino gulped- he really managed to make this worse
“…I’m- sorry killer” ccino finally looked down, his “happy façade” falling down with him at the same time. “I- it’s my fault if it happened in the first place! I- I don’t think I-“ he looked at killer’s face for a brief moment, and quickly regretted it- the other’s expression got even more painful to look at- though the genuine look of concern was shining through his empty sockets even brighter.
“…I don’t think I can work here anymore-“
He tried not to look at killer directly into his eyes, but it just wasn’t possible when the other took his hands and kneeled down to his level to say “wait- ccino are you being serious?”
Ccino looked at him, then broke down in tears- “l-look at me killer! I can’t even earn enough money to have a good amount of sleep and just flipping rest! I just want to sleep- I don’t want to go to school anymore- I- I-“
Ccino’s face was covered in tears- he didn’t want to be a bother to anyone- he didn’t want to let his problems get in the way of his relationships, but he just wasn’t going to keep it bottled up for so long! Just…why did it have to be killer?! He really didn’t deserve to get complains from the one who was dumb enough to fall down the stairs in the first place-
“…I’m sorry-“
Ccino looked up- the other pulled him into a hug and he didn’t even notice- “killer? I-it’s not your fault- you- you shouldn’t blame yourself!”
“-I didn’t act up before-“killer’s embrace got tighter. Ccino was really glad the other couldn’t see his expression, because he honestly didn’t know how to react. He would’ve never guessed that killer out of every one noticed him from the very beginning, let alone even care or feel guilty about any of what is happening to him.
Killer paused for a while, then slowly let go of the hug to face ccino, a faint smile covering his old pain inducing expression. “I know I can’t do much but, I want to help you. Soo-“he avoided the other’s gaze and finished off
“I want to work with you at the coffee shop”
Ccino almost choke at killer’s words. He was absolutely baffled; killer, working with him. WITH HIM. TO HELP HIM. If he wasn’t with killer right now, he would’ve probably fainted in surprise-
“w-WhAt-“ccino was so chocked he was barely staying with him, but he still managed to let out “y-you don’t have to do anything for me! I can take care of it somehow- you already have so much work already- I don’t need your pity”
Ccino was pretty surprised at how rude that sounded like, but he didn’t have time to add anything that killer immediately chuckled-
“w-what? I just want to work with you to help you out with your broken leg. You can’t really work with these conditions, and I know for a fact YOU already have so much work. Plus- I want to work there, you can’t really do a thing to stop me now do you?”
The last sentence was flirtier than intended, but ccino was just too confused to even get anything at that point. To be fair, he wouldn’t have got it anyway.
“…why?” ccino didn’t even notice that tears started rolling down his cheeks again. His mind was seriously considering the option of shutting down, but killer just held him up slowly and helped him walk out of the room
“well, I like your coffee, and I wouldn’t want anyone else to replace you here. Just imagine if it wasn’t our preferred softie who held the stand!” his grin got wider, and ccino waited a moment before laughing out openly. Killer was pretty good at lifting people’s mood up.
*********
“Ccino! I need your help-“
Ccino sighed. Killer was good at serving people, and garnered a pretty good reputation for it, people often enjoying the discussions with him, which was understandable on its own, but he was kind of bad at making coffee.
Ccino was often the one in charge of doing it in the end since it didn’t really involve moving, and he was glad that killer was around to help him sometimes, but the rare times when ccino was having a break, killer was pretty saddened to ask him for help, since he didn’t want to bother him for it, but ccino was more than happy to give him advice, and in the meantime, he’d often talk about acting and his old films and shows.
Ccino was always exited to hear about his stories, more than what he wanted to show, and that was very endearing to killer. He was getting very attached to the little barista and he was ashamed to admit it.
But he wanted to admit it.
That’s why he wasn’t okay with the scene that was going to occur in the series.
He knew ccino was going to be there
And he couldn’t do it.
Killer rushed to his director’s office and started to argue for a very long while
He couldn’t do that
He was not going to do that in front of ccino-
And nightmare had to painfully hear that when he passed by the corridor. He paused for a while; ccino, it was because of ccino right? He couldn’t help but smile, deep down, he didn’t want to ruin their chances either. Killer cares so much about the guy that he was actually glad ccino had someone like him, he even felt envious. Nightmare sighed, then continued walking.
He sadly didn’t notice that he left the script on the table, but someone else did notice that.
Ccino’s reaction was…unexpected. He didn’t want to believe it, but what surprised him is that he was more jealous of nightmare than killer. He didn’t realize he wanted to be with killer instead, but these thoughts made his reaction softer; the tears rolling down his cheeks were slowly being wiped off with his left sleeve.
Killer was getting so dear to him that it was hard for ccino to ever imagine him with someone else. All of the times they had together only made it harder to accept that, but he still managed to smile;
killer might a famous actor who has a million of fans who put him on a pedestal and who would kill to be with him, but he still chose to do anything to help him with his work. He stayed by his side patiently and chose to accompany and help him with his own free will.
So he still had a glimpse of hope now that he realized that he actually fell for killer
******
“There were so many clients todaaay-“killer yawned at ccino. Now that he was working both at the studio each Wednesday and Sunday and the coffee chop each evening, it made him more tired than the usual. Not that he regretted doing so; ccino was a pretty sweet and nice person, but he often denied or refused to ask for help. It was kind of hard to even convince him to sit down and recover.
“Pff yeah- not my record though! You still haven’t experienced the hell that is a special event! I got so many orders I was barely able to memorize them all” ccino chuckled slightly, but his smile quickly fell when he remembered what happened a week ago.
Right, the script.
He wondered, was there a little chance he liked him back?
“Um- ccino? Did you hear me?”
Killer patted his shoulder, and ccino almost yelped- “u-uh! Yeah- no” ccino laughed at killer’s reaction “really- you’ve been quite distracted this week. Are you okay?” killer’s grin turned into a concerned frown, but the other shrugged it off with a smile. “Just the exams, don’t worry!”
He was lying
But killer still tried to ask him out
Today was the last day he’ll work at the coffee
Ccino’s leg had recovered enough to be able to take his shifts alone, and while he wanted to stay with ccino, his excuse was getting invalid since “trying to help” wouldn’t really work on him anymore.
But there was his only chance to ask him out properly.
“Hey ccino-“
Ccino looked up, forcing a grin
Wow, he’d really got attached to him didn’t he?
And now there he goes
“Yeah?”
His
“Um-“
Only
“Well…”
Chance
He inhaled.
“I was wondering if we could go out next Sunday- if you don’t have anything planned of course!”
Ccino stopped walking, and looked at killer.
“…what”
It wasn’t a question, it was more of a realization.
Killer was a pretty flirty person, but he still was pretty shy when it came to being serious with someone he liked, yet he didn’t have to repeat himself twice.
“…and nightmare?” ccino’s mind was still processing what he just said. Was he asking him out, or was it just a friendly hang out? Wasn’t he…
“What about him?” killer got confused, but ccino was quick to continue; “aren’t you guys…together?”
Killer’s face was getting quite heated up, but he still answered “w-what? I-“
Ccino continued “but- wasn’t there…oh god I’m so dumb, it’s just cinema! How did i-“ccino just realized that most film had kiss scenes, yet the actors weren’t together or even in love! Ccino quickly hid his face in embarrassment, but killer chuckled at that-
“Oh you mean that scene! N-no, I asked the director to cancel it…because, uhhh- i- I like you, and-“
Ccino’s eyelights were gone, and his mouth was wide open, he-
“You like me???”
If there was any way his face could get redder, it would be
Killer paused a second, but quickly laughed out “pff- haha, well, of course! Really didn’t get any signs did you?” killer’s cheeks were bright red, but he still had his usual grin, if not a wider one.
“…” ccino was barely able to comprehend everything, and he almost fainted if it wasn’t for killer’s presence- “whoa there- you can’t even stand on your own, and you’re already planning to fall again?”
“Hahaha-“ccino’s laugh was more of an automatic response since his brain was on auto-pilot for now. “You LIKE ME??? Out of everyone, I never expected YOU would like someone like ME-“
Killer smiled at him, “but you still haven’t answered my question.” Ccino’s eyes met his, then ccino just answered “…what question?” killer wasn’t able to hold back his laugh, and ccino was just standing there, trying to remember what was his question.
“Do you want to go out sometime soon?”
Ccino paused, then jumped at killers arms “…if I’m free of my exams, I will”
Killer smiled, then hugged him back
What a nice feeling was it to be loved
Everyone in the studio was aware of their new relationship, and all were supportive of the two lovebirds.
But
“…”
He was happy for them too, but-
“…they care about each other so much-“
He smiled
“I guess it was bound to happen anyways”

Ccino stared at his reflection in the bathroom mirror. Dark circles deeply embedded underneath his sockets, evidence that he wasn’t sleeping properly.
But how could he?
The wedding day was only a few weeks away and it felt like nothing was ready. So many things left to do!
They needed to decide on the flavor of the cake but every time he discussed it with his partners it ended with Nightmare and Killer fighting. Not only that but the flowers still hadn’t been picked, the color theme was still pending, several of the invitations hadn’t been sent, he had yet to go buy a new outfit-
His cats!!!! His fur babies needed a cat sitter!
He groaned and cursed at himself for forgetting such an important detail. He swore if his head weren’t attached he would’ve lost it long ago.
“………..”
He supposed he was worrying about nothing, this was just a formality.
The white eyed skeleton stared at the ring on his left ring finger. They had eloped and married in the town of Las Vegas.. and had a small celebration in their hotel room. The three of them dancing.. elated that after years of hardship they were finally united in marriage.
He supposed he should just worry about one thing at a time.. I mean so long as he solved the issues before the formality wedding it would be alright.
“I-I should really head t-to work… don’t want to be late. But m-maybe… I’ll leave the ring h-here… I don’t want to lose it.”
The barista had made it a habit of leaving his ring either in the bathroom or his nightstand. He feared if he took it to work he’d risk the chance or losing it. For now this was his best option to ensure the security of the ring.
~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~
The days passed until it was the day of their ‘formal’ wedding.
“Killer! What are you doing in there? Some of us need to use the bathroom too you know?” Nightmare scolded as he intermittently knocked on the bathroom door. To the violet skeleton it felt like Killer had been in the bathroom for at least half an hour.
“Chill babe, I was showering. You can’t rush perfection you know.” Killer purred as the door clicked open.
“Don’t tell me to chill!! Because of you we’re going to be late!”
“N-No! We can’t b-be late!” Ccino stuttered as he stumbled into the bathroom. A look of panic across his face. “If w-w-we’re late people w-will think s-something happened!”
Ccino frantically opened several drawers and desperately rummaged through the items that each one had.
“And t-then the priest w-will leave! Oh shoot… f-fiddlesticks…”
Both Nightmare and Killer exchanged a look as their husband kept scattering items around.
“Marshmallow… is everything alright? You look very stressed…” Killer stated.
“N-no!! Everything is n-not alright!! I-I… I… I can’t find anything! I d-don’t have the other items t-that I need!!”
The white eyed skeleton began nibbling his thumb as he rushed out of the bathroom to the living room area.
“Ccino.. what are you looking for? Perhaps we could help locate it for you.” Nightmare said as he followed the barista out of the bathroom.
The violet skeleton knew that Ccino was someone who would stress about small details.. and often times wouldn’t share that responsibilities with others.
He certainly was a hard worker.. but Nightmare knew it’s what often caused his poor husband to become burnt out so quickly.
“I… I-I…” Ccino began to respond, but soon hot tears began to roll down his cheeks. “I d-dont… I c-cant believe I f-f-f-forgot.. I’m s-so s-s-stupid!”
“Woah.. now Ccino.. you’re not stupid..” Nightmare walked towards the small skeleton and held his hands. “What is it that you forgot?”
The white eyed skeleton opened his mouth to respond but no words came out. All he could do was cry and sob, his breathing irregular and shaky.
Killer upon hearing his partner cry rushed over to join the two skeletons.
“Marshmallow!! My sweet little cinnamon roll! Why are you crying?”
“B-Because… I…” Ccino took in a shaky breath trying to calm himself. “I w-wanted t-t-to follow the t-tradition!”
“What tradition..?”
“Where s-s-someone w-wears… s-something b-borrowed… n-new.. blue.. and o-old…”
Killer furrowed his brow bones a bit puzzled. “Why would you want to wear something old?”
“Killer do you really not know? It’s a very popular and used tradition. Typically a bride will wear something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. You could say it’s for good luck.”
Ccino nodded in agreement and wiped his tears with the back of his hands.
“Well that’s easy! We can definitely find all that!” Killer exclaimed. “Wait right here marshmallow I got something for ya.”
After a few minutes passed Killer returned with a narrow long rectangular box.
“Moonpie and I had actually planned on giving this to you later but… I think now would be better.”
Killer looked at Nightmare for any sign of protest. But the violet skeleton gave a nod of agreement. Smiling, Killer went ahead and opened the box to reveal a thin silver chain.
“W-what’s that…?”
“Well.. you need something new right? Nightlight and I realized that you often leave your ring behind because of work.. so we thought to get you this neck chain so you could put your ring in it. That way you won’t lose it. And always have it on you, even if it’s not on your finger.”
Ccino’s eyes widen and his eyelights grew into those beautiful white round orbs that Killer loved dearly. “Oh.. yes!! O-oh I love it s-so much!!”
Ccino smiled as Killer placed the chain on the barista.
“As for something blue.. your tuxedo is already blue. And for something borrowed you’ll be borrowing my bow tie. So two things are already covered.” Nightmare stated.
“Y-you’re right! But… w-what about something old..?”
“Oh that’s easy, Killer is right here and he’s plenty old.”
“Oi!! I am not that old!!”
“Could’ve fooled me.”
Ccino smiled, and soon erupted into a fit of giggles. He remembered the times he used to worry about his boyfriends banter and light insults. Worried that they truly couldn’t stand each other.
But he realized that strangely enough that’s how they express their feelings for each other. Because it wasn’t too late after that, that they would be kissing each other.
“I-I think.. I have a-an idea.” Ccino chimed. “It m-may look tacky b-but..”
He trailed off as he made his way to the bedroom, and after a few minutes he returned. But as far as his partners could tell, he didn’t have any new item on him.
“Uhm marshmallow..?”
“I…. I t-thought I could wear m-my shoes…” the white eyed skeleton looked down at his shoes. They were very worn down, and with few old coffee stains splattered across.
“These a-are my old s-shoes… I know it’s s-silly but… I k-kept them b-because I was w-wearing these when we f-first met… I c-can change out of t-them though if they l-look bad!”
Nightmare blinked a few times a tad surprised, but soon smiled affectionately at his husband. “I think it’s perfect…”
Killers smiled as well, a gentle and soft expression displayed across his face. “Perfect… just like you are.”
The eyeless skeleton grabbed hold of Nightmare’s hand before extending his free one to Ccino. “So… what do you say marshmallow… Marry us again?”
The small skeleton’s sockets welled up with tears, he could feel how they pooled in the lining of his sockets. Could a singular skeleton really be allowed to be this happy?
“Y-Yes!!” The tears spilled from his sockets as he jumped into his partners arms. “A-always!”
You know I can’t resist some good old fashion studio fluffynightkiller with the extra fluff! I’ve been on an angst spree recently soooo I thought to give y’all a nice little break before continuing ;)
This little bit does contain some headcanons that gayfish and I came up with during some old rp’s! And a headcanon that gayfish had that as soon as the trio was allowed to marry they immediately eloped.
A violet skeleton sighed as he sat on the couch wrapped in a thermal blanket. It was a chilly day outside, temperatures had dipped overnight causing frost to cling to the trees overnight. It was beautiful sight, the trees were crystal like when the dim rays of the sun bounced off.
Even if it was a beautiful sight, this skeleton preferred to admire the scenery from the warmth of his home. Being half fire-elemental, he couldn’t casually waltz outside like his partners. He’d have to dress in layers, thermals, and with a thick jacket as an extra precaution to ensure he wouldn’t lose too much body heat. He’d seen first hand how dangerous that could be.
He shifted in place trying to find the most comfortable position. Since he couldn’t go out he opted to watch a movie until his partners returned home. He selected a dvd that killer had left out laying on the coffee table, just a typical romantic movie, with all the predictable outcomes, and the annoyingly excessive tears.
Nightmare wasn’t a fan. He’d always found it a waste of money to shower your loved one with flowers and chocolates, to have the spouse announce their arrivals with “honey I’m home.”
He could never understand why Killer enjoyed this genre of films. Well.. perhaps he just found it ironic that Killer actually enjoyed these so called films.
Killer had a notorious history of being a playboy. A flirty jerk who had countless sexual partners, an expert in bed, who wanted nothing more then sexual satisfaction. No strings attached and no feelings involved. At least that’s what Nightmare had gathered after sleeping with him the first few times.
“……….”
But he supposed he couldn’t necessarily blame Killer. Nightmare wasn’t exactly the best at comprehending his own feelings, nor was he good at expressing said feelings.
Just like the actors in the movie, he and Killer had been oblivious to each other’s feelings. It was truly cringeworthy how foolish they were. Surely everyone else could see it unfold.. how close they’d gotten.. yet they both continuously denied it.
There had been times Nightmare had wished things had unfolded like they do in the movies. With one party going to the others house, finally realizing their feelings, confessing their love. Then the two would get their happy ending.
Yet their relationship was unstable and volatile. So fragile that a gust of wind would tear everything apart. So, even after confessing their feelings…. more or less, their relationship ended in flames. Tearing each other down.. embedding words of hate into each other.. inflicting a pain so deep that you’d never be able to escape it.
But, somewhere along the line destiny seemed to bring them together again. The violet skeleton couldn’t deny there were lingering feelings within his soul.
However.. with the second attempt they pursued a different approach.
Nightmare had wished he could’ve kept Killer to himself.. and it wounded him deeply when he realized that was nearly impossible. But.. if it weren’t for that reason.. they’d never have met their wonderful fluffy barista.
Ccino-
A gentle soul who managed to bring him and Killer closer than ever before. After countless years of banter and witty remarks, it was easy for the violet and eyeless skeleton to work each other up.
Playful banter turned to snarky remarks-
To light insults-
Which lead to full blown arguments.
But the baristas soft nature managed to ground them. Often times being the mediator between Nightmare and Killer. Actually the whole reason they were able to confess to each other.. saying they loved each other was thanks to Ccino. Of course it still wasn’t the best situation… but Nightmare was certain if Ccino hadn’t been in the relationship… things would’ve ended differently.
The movie continued.
This time the actors were kissing under the rain, whispering how much they loved the other and couldn’t live with the other.
He scoffed.
So cliche.
“…… Damn it.”
He came to a realization. Hadn’t his life mostly been a romantic cliche?
Smart serious business man falls for a playboy sleep around who doesn’t want any commitment. But as their relationship progresses they both realize they have feelings. They have a huge fight that seems it won’t be resolved… until years later they meet again. The two clearly love each other but cannot have a stable relationship… until a kind natured boy comes into play.
And they live happily ever after.
He groaned. Oh looking at it like that the plot of their relationship seemed so predictable. He wondered how many people would be interested in something so-
“Moonpie! My hot sexy warm cozy man! You don’t know how much I looked forward to seeing you today!” Killer’s voice interrupted nightmares thoughts, as he made his way over to the violet skeleton.
“What? Hey no!! Killer I am not your personal-
No!! Killer stop it- you’re cold!!! I’m not-“
Nightmare sighed in defeat as Killer had slipped inside the blankets and pushed Nightmare further into the couch to where they were somewhat laying on one another.
Killer smiled as he purred nuzzling his face into Nightmare’s chest.
“So waaaaarm” Killer voice was muffled by the fabric on nightmare’s chest.
It had become a usual occurrence now… Killer would always snuggle up with Nightmare on chilly days. Sometimes Nighty wondered if all that Killer saw was as a personal heater.. but he’d be lying if he said he didn’t enjoy the physical contact.”
A few moments later the door clicked shut.
“I’m h-home! I b-b-brought some baked g-goodies from work!” Ccino chimed as he walked towards the kitchen setting down a few items.
“I’m g-going to brew some c-c-coffee! Anyone w-want any?”
“Mmmm~ I’ll take some marshmallow.” Killer responded.
“I’ll take some as well.” Nightmare added on.
Nightmare couldn’t help but feel as though most of his life had been a romantic cliche… but… I guess he could see why Killer enjoyed such silly films.
Who wouldn’t want to have their personal happily ever after?
Even if it was cliche… or if it wasn’t perfect.. Nightmare would never trade this for anything else in the world.
Killer flopped on his bed face down, exhausted from the mandatory social gathering he just attended. He stared out the window in his room, reflecting on the conversation he had with Nightmare. A small smile formed in his lips. It appeared there was hope after all to salvage their friendship. He was aware it would take a while before they both could move forward, but he was more than glad to not have lost Nightmare completely.
Hope bubbled in his soul, at the small possibility that the violet skeleton would pay a visit. But it was ridiculous to think of such a thing. They had just started talking again, there was no possible way he’d want to see him so soon. Nightmare would probably need a break, distance himself before even considering talking to him again. Which was fine, Killer didn’t mind waiting. Yet, maybe just maybe Nightmare would stop by... even if there was a fraction of a chance.
He knew it was silly but he decided to give a description of the violet skeleton to the receptionist, in case Nightmare were to ask for him. He groaned and buried his face in the sheets. It was laughable the way he was behaving, like a grade school student anticipating a call from their crush. Not that Killer felt that way towards his male co-star. No, that would be insane. A phrase that the eyeless skeleton frequently repeated was “I dont catch feelings” and true to his words he never expressed romantic feelings for others. He was just looking forward to seeing his friend again.
Tick.
Tick.
Tick
Tick.
It was late, a couple of hours had passed and the violet skeleton had yet to appear. Killer let out a heavy sigh, his shoulders sagged, as he came to terms that Nightmare wouldn’t visit tonight. Yet, why did his soul ever so slightly ache? It didn’t make sense. He knew it was a shot in the dark, it would take a miracle for Nightmare to come and knock on his door this second.
Knock knock knock.
Killer whipped his body with so much force he nearly lost his balance. As he sprinted towards the door, he stumbled a few times getting across the room . Could it really be? Maybe he hadn’t completely ruined everything! Even if Nightmare didn’t forgive him, even if all they remained were simple friends, not having anymore intimate nights, Killer was accepting of that. All he wanted was to be able to at least spend some time with the small skeleton. Just to see his reactions when he teased him before that night. To see those violet orbs of his. Hell, even just getting scolded by him! That’s all he asked for.
“Sir? Er, Mr. Cide?” A soft female voice called out from the other side of the door. Oh... it was just the receptionist. Killer hung his head and quietly laughed at himself. How foolish of him. Getting his hopes up that Nightmare was behind that door. He didn’t even sound interested in coming over. Why, was he so insistent in keeping that useless hope? It only caused his soul to wrench in pain.
“What can I help you with, sweetheart.” Killer responded attempting to act natural. Cide wasn’t his actual name, it was an alias he used so crazed fans couldn’t stalk him, well not as easily anyway. He opened the door half expecting to see a staff member ask for an autograph.
Except his body froze and his sockets fixated themselves on the person standing beside the female worker.
“Pardon for interrupting you so late... however, based on your description... I thought perhaps this was the gentleman you were referring to?” The receptionist nervously stated, possibly expecting Killer to yell at her for bothering him at this time of night.
“........... Yeah......... yeah... that’s him...” Killer stared at Nightmare, who appeared to be apprehensive, almost questioning why he was even here. The eyeless skeleton didn’t want to take his eyes away from the other. He felt that if he looked away Nightmare would vanish into thin air. This was just too good to be true right? He must be dreaming..
He almost forgot the receptionist was even there until he heard the rustling of her clothing. “Right Uh, thank you miss. I’ll take it from here..”
The receptionist nodded and returned to the front desk. Nightmare didn’t say a word, he only shifted from side to side awkwardly holding one of his arms in front of him. He was nervous, and ready to bolt down the hallway if needed. Killer knew he had to be careful, he didn’t want to scare the smaller skeleton away.
The eyeless skeleton cautiously stepped to the side, allowing Nightmare to enter if he pleased. “So... you going to come in or are you just going to stand there.....” Killer stated in a lighthearted manner. Hopefully it would ease the anxiety that was building within the small skeleton.
Nightmare glanced up to Killer then to the end of the hallway, from where he came. He was debating whether he should stay or leave. The only reason he came was...... well it was because.......
A pause.
Actually, nightmare didn’t have a valid reason to stay. His mind and body acted on their own accord, and before he knew it he was standing in front of Killer’s room.
He bit his lip and curled a hand into a fist. Why is it that he always found himself in this situation? He’d done so well to avoid this insufferable man, and now that they’ve talked once, he’s standing at his doorstep. He sure was pathetic wasn’t he? He hadn’t forgiven Killer- not fully, and he wasn’t sure if he ever would. Yet, a part of his soul yearned for the other. The violet skeleton blamed it on the alcohol, he wasn’t in the right state of mind.
A lie.
He had a high alcohol tolerance and he was sober enough to make conscious decisions. However, blaming it on the wine was easier than accepting that fact. What exactly was he expecting from the other if he stayed? Certainly they wouldn’t just talk.... no they never did. He knew that, and maybe a part of him was hoping that this would be the case even if he didn’t admit it.
He pondered for a second. Wait, the receptionist mentioned that Killer had been expecting him... or at least he fit the description of the man Killer was waiting for. The eyeless skeleton had no indication that Nightmare would arrive. So, was he awaiting and hoping that he would come and knock on his door?
Why....?
Why would Killer be expecting his arrival? Did he know him so well that he was certain he would show? Or was he just being optimistic and hoping that the violet skeleton would come banging on his door? But... with how stunned he looked when they made eye contact.... it appeared he really wasn’t sure if he would show or not.
~~~~
Killer shifted from his spot near the door, a flash of worry reflected across his face. How long had Nightmare been standing there? Was he having second thoughts? That wouldn’t be a surprise... maybe he regretted coming here... Yet, now that the small skeleton was standing before him he didn’t want to let the other go. He gripped the door handle tightly, as the idea of Nightmare leaving settled in.
Killer wanted to reach out, pull him inside, hold him close, and..... and...... no... just by having him nearby was enough. He had to respect the decisions that Nightmare made. If he chose to leave then so be it... he couldn’t afford to strain their relationship any further.
~~~~~
Nightmare sighed and turned to face the taller skeleton. He knew he’d regret it, that he’d hate himself for the next few days, but he couldn’t fight it any longer. It wasn’t fair how Killer had this effect on him, all rational left his mind once he gazed into the other’s eyes. Those damned eyes. It should be a crime to have eyes alluring such as his.
The violet skeleton swallowed dryly attempting to stifle the anxiety that threatened to overtake him. Finally, he took a couple steps forward entering Killer’s room. It was such a simple action. One that any other day wouldn’t have meant anything. But it was different today. Killer’s eyes widened in astonishment. This wasn’t the outcome he was expecting. Of course he wanted the smaller to stay, but he was certain he wouldn’t. Killer smiled in disbelief, this night sure was full of surprises wasn’t it?
He gently closed the door behind him before facing the small skeleton. Silence. It’s funny how the absence of sound could be the loudest noise one could hear. They were both at a loss on what to say. Killer’s typical flirtatious attitude was no where to be seen, he was still in shock that the skeleton was standing before him. What could he even say? Thanks for coming? Why are you here? He was the one who hinted at Nightmare coming over in the first place!
“So.... you were expecting me?” Nightmare voice tore him from his thoughts. He looked at him, vision resting on those lonely lips. “Killer?” The eyeless skeleton jumped as he snapped out of the fantasy that had quickly formed in his mind.
“Hm? What? Oh, uh.... no I wasn’t really... expecting anyone.“
“But the lady said-“
“I know what she said.. whether or not I was expecting you- someone is unimportant. What matters is that you’re here.. for some sort of reason right? Something on your mind Nightlight?” Killer tensed when he heard the words escape his lips. He wasn’t supposed to call him that but it was a habit to call him by his nicknames instead of his actual name.
Nightmare however didn’t say anything, in fact his cheeks for a second were flushed with a violet tint. Right a reason... he needed to think of an excuse... he couldn’t just say ‘I’m not sure why I’m here. Kinda wanted to see what would happen.’ Now could he? He pursed his lips together attempting to come up with a believable story.
“Well... you see I wanted to.... apologize... yes apologize! Uh.... I thought about it some more and.... well I shouldn’t have disrespected your found family. Blood or not... you still see Cross as your family er.. a brother. I should’ve been more conscious of that fact. And uh... I don’t think I could’ve slept with it nagging me all night. So... I’m sorry.”
He wasn’t lying... at least not fully anyway. He had contemplated long and hard the words Killer said. Yes, he should’ve listened that day let the other explain his side, but Nightmare was so upset he’d refuse to. It wasn’t something he needed to let Killer know right away. That’s not what was going to keep him up all night. No, had he not arrived he would’ve spent the rest of the night wondering ‘what if I had gone’ ‘what if Killer had something important to say’ ‘what if Killer wanted me there’ just ‘what if....’
“Oh, I see.... well I’m glad Nighty. It means a lot to me... thank you.” Killer smiled, but it wasn’t his classic smirk. It was that tender, warm, and gentle smile that had no right to melt Nightmare’s soul the way it did. Nightmare lifted an arm out to reach for Killer, he longed to pull himself closer, for their lips to touch, he wanted to be embraced against his broad chest.....
But Nightmare dropped his arm to the side.
No. That would be wrong, he’d constantly push Killer away, ignoring him. To pine for him now well.... he didn’t want to be that person. The one who uses someone when it was convenient for them. Except, he wouldn’t necessarily just be using Killer for physical purposes.. he wanted those moments where Killer wrapped him in a protective embrace... where he provided him with comfort... when they just laid in bed enveloped in the others warmth.... he missed it.
But surely the other didn’t care, he always said Nightmare wasn’t just another one of his... buddies. That he was more than that... said he was his friend... and even if that was true... was that it? Was Nightmare really just a friend? A twinge of pain shot through his soul. Yeah, that’s all he should be and that’s all he is.... a friend... Nightmare had made his decision already. He wouldn’t sleep with him any longer... there was no point.
Nightmare moved his weight from one foot to the other. “Right well....” They should just keep their friendship as is. No commitments... and no risk to developing any sort of attachments. Besides, isn’t that what Killer wanted? “That’s all I came here for.. so I guess I should head back now.” He had to leave. The violet skeleton took a few steps towards the door. Leave before he risked breaking down. Leave before his resolve weakened. Leave before-
“Wait!” Killer snatched the smaller skeletons arms, preventing him from walking any further. “Don’t.... I mean, you just got here... you can’t just leave..” What happened? Why did he want to leave? Did he do something wrong again? Everything appeared to be going so well... so why...? Why did Nightmare suddenly feel the urge to leave him alone?
Nightmare froze mid stride. “There’s... there’s nothing for us to talk about right..? Ive apologized... you’ve apologized. I already overstayed my visit... it’s late and we should sleep....” The violet skeleton looked away as to not make eye contact with the taller one. “I have no reason to be here anymore...”
Objectively, yes he was correct. Nightmare had no valid reason to stay in the first place, however he no longer had a reasonable excuse to stay any longer. Killer knew it shouldn’t be a big deal, right? Nightmare was just leaving for the night, surely they’d talk more later. Yet, something was telling him he’d regret letting him leave. He couldn’t understand why, but it was a gut feeling he knew better than to ignore.
“Well.... you’ve already come all this way, it would be rude to leave so soon. Besides, I was just about to watch a movie. Like you said it’s late, you can always go in the morning.” Perhaps Killer wasn’t being fully honest but he wasn’t trying to deceive the smaller skeleton. He was thinking about watching movie, since he wasn’t sure if he would be able to sleep. It was a poor excuse but perhaps it would persuade the other to extend his visit.
Nightmare pursed his lips contemplating his options. He could call his taxi... but it may be a few hours before they arrived, and besides the driver was probably sleeping by now. He could just book another room for tonight, but if Killer was offering... maybe he could just spend the night. As friends! Do nothing more than to just watch the movie. Just what friends do, right? “Alright, since you insist... I guess we could watch a movie together.... as friends...”
Killer smile was so radiant, Nightmare swore it lit up the room. As Killer led the small skeleton to the room with the T.V they began debating what genre they should watch. After much debate that two decided on an action type film. The two settled themselves on the bed and placed a blanket over their legs.
Killer had brought over some wine and popcorn for the two to enjoy as the movie played out. The two actors snickered and giggled as they pointed out several mistakes the main cast were making. Everything seemed to be going well between them at the moment. Just watching a movie, as friends. Nothing more, nothing less. That is of course until Nightmare began leaning against Killer and rested his head on the others shoulder. That was fine right? Friends do that all the time... it’s not what couples do or anything.
The eyeless skeleton shifted as he began to realize what the situation looked like. They were supposed to be hanging out as friends, so how is it that they managed to be all cozy and snuggled up next to each other? The tall skeleton glanced around his room. Wine, snuggling under the blanket, Nightmare resting his head on his shoulder.... it was all too romantic. Killer stiffened as panic began to settle in.
Romance was something Killer ensured to stray away from. It was all too complicated. You let yourself become vulnerable, let your emotions become bare for the world to see, and all because you like someone? That was stupid.
What’s worse is, what if that person didn’t even like you back? You’re left alone, unwanted, and humiliated. Why even risk something like that in the first place? It was best to continue a relationship where you could enjoy the benefits but not be committed to them. Besides, who needs those ridiculous feelings anyway? They’re too much of a hassle. Yet, here he was, in a situation he was sure most would deem as romantic. No, he had to fix that.
As he continued watching the screen he opened his mouth to say “So... you wanna screw?” Was that comment totally inappropriate for this situation? Absolutely. But did it have the effects of he was hoping for? It appeared that it had. He felt how the small skeleton tensed and slowly shifted away from him. The eyeless skeleton chuckled, as he could already feel the piercing stare the other was giving him.
Killer wasn’t being serious, or well not entirely anyway. He just needed a way to dissipate the romantic atmosphere in the room. Sure enough it appeared that it worked as the other huffed in frustration. “You’re unbelievable! We were having a good time then you go and ruin it by being.... well you!”
The eyeless skeleton laughed in response causing the other to become more infuriated. He couldn’t help it, he just loved to tease the smaller skeleton. His reactions were the best, from how he got flustered, embarrassed, annoyed, they were all some of the best reactions he’d ever seen. They were the only person who could entertain him in such a way. And let’s not forget the times he’d surprised Killer, like that one time Nightmare kissed him out of nowhere.
Speaking of kisses... those delicious lips of Nightmare’s sure looked pretty lonely.. he could risk it and steal a quick kiss. Nightmare was already frustrated and annoyed... what’s the worst that could happen? He would probably get slapped, and the smaller skeleton would storm off into the night. Worst case scenario he probably would distance himself. Well, it was a risk he was willing to-
Killer’s eyes widened as the smaller skeleton pressed his lips against his own. Nightmare wasn’t stupid, he’s spent more than enough time with Killer to realize what his intentions were. The eyeless skeleton wasn’t as slick as the thought himself to be. He made it painfully obvious what he was planning on doing. Nightmare feeling spiteful decided he would give Killer a taste of his own medicine. He knew the taller skeleton wouldn’t be expecting this, so why not give him a surprise?
The kiss wasn’t meant to last long, it was supposed to be brief, just enough to fluster the taller skeleton. However, as the seconds ticked by the small skeleton found it increasingly difficult to pull away. Nightmare had forgotten how amazing a simple kiss could be. The kiss was definitely a double edged sword, he didn’t think he’d miss kissing the other this much. Honestly if he wasn’t so prideful, perhaps he would’ve stayed in this position letting himself relish the taste of the kiss. But, he was that prideful and he needed to break the kiss, to not become prey to Killer’s tactics- oh... too late.
After getting over the initial shock, Killer pulled the small skeleton closer tilting his head to deepen the kiss. The eyeless skeleton already knew he’d miss the sensation of the others lips on his but damn.... he really missed him. He thought he would be satisfied with a kiss, but that wasn’t the case. It only served to bring to surface his buried desire for the other. He needed Nightmare with such intensity that he couldn’t ignore it any longer.
Nightmare let out a few muffled noises of protest as the other pressed their bodies closer. Killer, yet again was trying to take charge of the situation. Typically the violet skeleton would put little to no effort to protest, since he did enjoy letting the other take the lead. Yet, he felt like tonight he needed to put up a little more resistance. He had to play hard to get every now and then. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be any fun, right?
With just as much eagerness, Nightmare pressed his body as close as physically possible. The violet skeleton hissed as their teeth clanked a few times, but it was a sensation he welcomed. The kiss was uncoordinated and chaotic, definitely far from romantic. It had become a battle for dominance and neither of them would surrender.
Except, from the position they were in Nightmare had a slight advantage. He could easily press the other against the bed, and that’s exactly what he was planning on doing. Placing his hands against Killer’s chest, Nightmare used the weight of his body to gently ease the other against the mattress.
The violet skeleton wasn’t necessarily expecting to stay in this position long. Because, Killer enjoyed dominating and topping his partners. Nightmare just wanted to have some fun before allowing Killer to regain control. But, he had to admit, he did enjoy how the eyeless skeleton looked underneath him.
After a few minutes the two finally broke the kiss, and hungrily gasped for air. Their faces were flushed with tones of reds and violets, as they held each other’s gaze. Nightmare’s eyelights were sharp and unwavering, different then their first night together.
After settling down, Killer’s body tensed as he realized the position they were in. He was pinned between the bed and Nightmare. When did this happen? Was he so distracted by the kiss that he’d failed to realize what was happening? It appeared that way. He was at a loss on what to do, should he attempt flip them around? Or should he let Nightmare take control tonight? Anxiety began to churn in his non existent stomach.
“I think.... it’s about time... I take control don’t you think?” Nightmare said between breaths. He was mostly teasing. There was no way the other would submit, not when he was such a strong dominant man. He lightly began tracing Killer ribs through his clothes. He might as well enjoy this while he still can. It was only a matter of time before the other flipped them around.
Killer drew in a shaky breath. Nightmare sure looked excited... He supposed he could let the other dominate for once. “Oh.... I suppose you could....” He was nervous. Being in control was something he was comfortable with, because he knew what to expect, he knew what he needed to do, and it was all predictable. Once he let go of that control, he was at the other’s mercy. That thought terrified him. Not knowing what would happen next... it was unnerving. But, he trusted Nightmare. Surely he wouldn’t do anything to harm him.
Nightmare froze, as he registered what the skeleton underneath him just said. Did he hear him correctly? He was letting him take control? This was unexpected, not that he was disappointed or anything. He was rather surprised. He honestly never expected that he’d ever have an opportunity to top Killer. Nightmare let out a quiet “oh.” Well, now that the initial intensity had dissipated he’d have to reestablish the mood once again.
Nightmare paused for a second wait... this would be the perfect opportunity to relish and appreciate Killer’s ribs to the max! A small smile formed on his lips as drool began to pool in his mouth. Nightmare decided to resume his previous activity of just gently running his hands across the others chest, gently tracing his ribs through his clothes. As he did so, the eyeless skeleton cautiously ran a hand up the others leg. He needed to distract himself, he feared if he didn’t the nerves would overtake him.
He shivered as Nightmare continued to delicately run his hands across his chest. It didn’t feel bad, it was a pleasant sensation but he was too focused on remaining calm that he couldn’t fully enjoy it. He had to constantly remind himself that this is what he wanted. Nightmare wouldn’t hurt him. He knew that if he asked the other would stop. But, Killer wanted this... he really truly did. But the anxiety threatened to engulf him completely. Maybe if he ignored it long enough he’d forget about it....
The violet skeleton furrowed his brow bones. He could tell something was wrong, but he wasn’t entirely sure of what the problem was. Something about Killer seemed off, but what exactly? After a few seconds of observing the skeleton underneath him he realized something. The other skeleton seemed stiff... tense... as if he were nervous? No way.... that wasn’t possible was it? Killer being nervous? The same skeleton who was so boisterous when it came to having intimate relationships with others? There was no possible way.. but then why else would he be so tense?
“Killer... are you nervous?” The violet skeleton asked. He wasn’t being judgmental or anything. He was genuinely curious. Nightmare had never seen Killer in such a state before. So, he wanted to clarify with the taller skeleton to see if he was alright. Surely, if he were nervous he’d say something right? Or maybe not.... granted Nightmare wasn’t exactly the best at communicating his concerns either.
Killer’s eyes widened ever so slightly before scoffing in response. “W-what?? No! Im not... Don’t be ridiculous! Y-You’re the nervous shy one! Why would you ask such a stupid question.”
Nightmare narrowed his eyes slightly, not fully convinced by the other’s answer. He leaned down and placed a delicate kiss on the other’s neck. Killer’s nerves betrayed him, causing him to jump and flinch from the contact. He inwardly cursed at himself, ashamed he couldn’t mask his uneasiness. The violet skeleton pulled away- his brow bones knitted together. “You are nervous....”
Why was Killer so nervous? Did it mean he didn’t want Nightmare to top? Then why didn’t he say something earlier? Was it possible Killer didn’t see him as attractive as before? Perhaps he really didn’t want this after all. Nightmare bite his bottom lip, maybe it was a mistake to have stayed after all. “I shouldn’t have come..... I should probably go....”
Go...? As in leave? No... That’s not what Killer wanted. Despite what his nerves displayed he wanted Nightmare.... he did want this.... it didn’t feel bad... but unfortunately his anxiety was taking over. His fears refused to allow him to relax to enjoy this moment.
He felt the small skeleton begin to climb off, and panic enveloped his senses. No! He immediately reached out for Nightmare’s arm holding him in place. He opened his mouth to say ‘Stay’ but no words came out. Why...? Just why was he like this....? It wasn’t a complicated task... but his body refused to cooperate.
After a few seconds Killer responded with “Fine... I just... don’t get topped often.. it’s been a while since the last time....” His voice strained as he explained himself. He gritted his teeth together. He was absolutely pathetic! Why was he so scared to let go of control?? He wanted this so bad but why did his nerves betray him!! Nightmare wasn’t the type of person who would deliberately hurt him, he knew that! But his stupid mind created the worst case scenarios, and he was powerless to stop it. He just needed to get over it!
Their eyes locked together, and where words failed him- Killer’s eyes did not. Nightmare could see it, even without eyelights it was evident to him what the other was thinking. He was nervous, scared, he felt vulnerable. And even so he could see Killer wanted this as much as he did. He knew better than anyone what that feeling was like, because that was him not long ago. Killer had helped ease his concerns and fears, now it was his turn to return the favor.
“You know.... you have pretty eyes...” The violet skeleton quietly stated as their eyes remained locked together.
Killer’s eyes widened ever so slightly, his chest still pounding from the nerves that refused to disappear. “W-what...?” He wasn’t sure if he heard correctly, what did his eyes have to do with anything?
Nightmare slowly leaned down ensuring he wouldn’t startle the skeleton underneath him. He gently rested his head in the crook of his neck, gently nuzzling it. “You have beautiful eyes...” he repeated himself once more. He placed a soft and delicate kiss on Killer’s neck.
Killer’s breath hitched. Oh... funny how those simple words could have such an impact. His stiff shoulders loosened, evidence that what Nightmare was doing aiding in easing Killer’s anxiety. Nightmare continued to let his head rest near Killer’s neck, allowing him to grow accustomed to it. He wondered... would saying these words in his native tongue make a difference?
“Tienes unos ojos tan bellos... me recuerdan de una noche bajo la luna...” (You have such beautiful eyes... they remind me of a night under the moon...)
“...........”
“Podría mirar entre tus ojos toda una interinidad... nunca me podría cansarme de ellos...” (I could stare at them forever.... I could never grow tired of them...)
How could words he couldn’t understand alleviate his nerves and anxiety? Causing them to dissipate into the air? Killer wasn’t entirely sure, but he thoroughly enjoyed having the small skeleton’s soothing voice whisper in his ‘ear.’ It was a blanket of comfort and warmth that helped ease his worries away. He felt protected... he felt safe.. Huh... strange. He couldn’t recall the last time he’d felt so at peace before, it was.... nice.
Was this a romantic moment..? He wasn’t sure and right now he didn’t care. It was so calming, soothing, unhurried... a complete 180 then what he was used to... and frankly he wanted to absorb it all. Lost in the tender moment they were sharing, Killer couldn’t help but whisper “Moonpie...”
Nightmare froze as the word spilled from Killer’s mouth. He had grown accustomed to hearing the other’s nicknames for him but he’d never heard this one before. Especially not hearing him say it in such an endearing way. “Moonpie.... I... I don’t know what you said but.... please... say it again.”
The violet skeleton took a shuddering breath. It was strange seeing Killer in such a state of vulnerability, it awakened something within him. A sense of possessiveness...? He wasn’t sure if that was the right word, possibly protectiveness... he wanted to provide Killer with anything that he asked for... he wanted to make him feel good... hear him whine and cry out from pleasure... and maybe he could...
“Tus ojos son como una noche bajo las estrellas que iluminan la noche oscura... Me encantan tus ojos.. son tan hermosos...” (Your eyes are like the night sky under the stars that illuminate the dark night.... I love you eyes.... they’re so beautiful....) Nightmare slowly pulled away and gently cupped the skeleton’s face, carefully tracing his cheekbones. “Son un tesoro maravilloso para mi...” (They’re a marvelous treasure for me...)
Killer’s cheeks burned as he stared into those beautiful violet orbs. He was at the complete mercy of the skeleton on top of him, and he was enjoying it. He didn’t mind, not anymore. He knew he was safe, knew there was nothing to worry about, he knew that Nightmare would take care of him. Slowly, he slide a hand underneath Nightmare’s shirt tracing his bottom rib. The small skeleton shivered in response, those fingertips were cool against his heated bones. He took this as a sign to continue, and cautiously leaned down to press his lips against Killer’s.
It was soft and tender. No grating pressure or an intense need to rush, it was relaxed and sweet. It wasn’t like the one that sent an electric current through his bones. No, this was a kiss that gradually warmed their bones from the very core. This kiss was different from the rest they’d both had ever experienced, and they’d be lying if they said they didn’t like it.
Killer didn’t protest his body remained laxed as the kiss carried on, nightmare slowly lifted Killer’s shirt. Allowing him enough time to stop him if he wished, but Killer didn’t put up any resistance or trace of unease. Nightmare gulped as he removed Killer’s shirt exposing his ribs. He hummed as he gazed at his bones. The violet skeleton lightly pressed his lips against the ribs “Tus costillas también son hermosas...” (Your ribs are also beautiful...)
Killer shuddered at his words, he could only assume Nightmare was talking about his ribs. Especially with how intense he was staring at them. It felt strange having someone be so gentle with him. Not bad... just new. The eyeless skeleton swallowed hard as he gathered the courage to remove nightmare’s shirt. The skeleton in question didn’t rush the other, he was patient, allowing the taller to move at his own pace. It was a simple thing to do.. and Killer appreciated the action.
After a few seconds, Killer successfully removed the article of clothing. Man, he’d never seen a set of ribs as beautiful as his. Killer gently traced the smaller’s spine, carefully allowing his hand to glide up his back. He’d always admired Nightmare’s ribs but he never realized how porcelain white they really were. He supposed, that he never realized the small details when he was excited to rush the process.
Killer carefully wrapped his arms around Nightmare, urging him to lean down and press their bodies together once more. Their lips brush against each other. It was still unhurried, soft, and gentle. Funny how such a delicate sensation could have him crave for more. Killer had completely submitted himself to Nightmare, melting under his touch. The two continued on relishing the newfound sensation that this night brought. No need to rush... no time for desperation to settle in... they were just letting the warmth of the other blanket their entire beings as the night progressed.
~~~~~~
The two skeletons lay wrapped underneath the blankets, unwinding from the events that unfolded. Killer was more than satisfied with how the night played out, if the blissful smile on his face was anything to go by. He hummed quietly letting his heavy eyelids close. He felt so at peace that it only took seconds before he let the exhaustion consume him. Nightmare on the other hand had his eyes wide open. He couldn’t sleep. How could he? Nothing made any sense.. not with how this night started and especially not with how it ended.
I mean first Killer apologized to him, practically wanted him to go to his hotel room, and what does nightmare do? He decides to pay the eyeless skeleton a visit. Next, Nightmare apologized which Killer accepted, and just as he was about to leave the other stopped him. He furrowed his brow bones together. Weren’t they meant to just watch a movie as friends? So, how was it that they ended up... like this? Nightmare could blame and say that Killer was going to kiss him either way, but that wasn’t the whole truth. No, had he really wanted he could’ve left-
A soft peaceful sigh escaped Killer’s lips as he shifted to face the violet skeleton, his eyes still closed. This small little action distracted Nightmare from his thoughts. Such delicate and tranquil features displayed on Killer’s sleeping face. The taller’s skeletons chest rose and fell evenly, and Night felt his soul skip a beat. It was similar to that morning after their first night. When he’d resist the urge to kiss the other, but today was different.
He wasn’t scared anymore, he wasn’t angry nor bitter, there was no negative emotions that impaired his thoughts. No, just an undeniable warmth that swirled within his core. He shook his head attempting to push those emotions aside. He wasn’t an idiot... or he liked to think he wasn’t.
Nightmare stared at the skeleton before lightly tracing the sleeping skeleton’s lips. Finally, he gave in to his desire, that he once ignored that morning and brushed his lips against the others for a few seconds.
A small smile formed on his lips as he turned around in the sheets. He should get some rest, surely it was the lack of sleep that was clouding his judgment. What else would explain these strange emotions that kept probing at his soul.
Because, he’d be a fool to fall for a playboy sleep around, right?

Alright here is the final chapter of Killer Night(s)! Gotta say this chapter had some of my favorite scenes- ones that I thoroughly enjoyed writing.
I can’t get into too much detail as to why Killer was so nervous, yet! (Another time for another story) but perhaps gayfish (and I) could share the headcanons we have regarding Killer’s backstory!
Also! @help-im-a-gay-fish was the one who came up with the idea of Nightmare mentioning Killer had beautiful eyes, and that it helped calm Killer down (that whole tender moment actually was gayfish idea!)
It was also gayfish’s idea to have Killer call Nightmare “Moonpie” for the first time here as well
I really enjoy Killer and Nightmare’s early relationship days.
Story inspired by @help-im-a-gay-fish (and inspiration also came from @atosofficial)
A simple story revealing how Nightmare’s and Killer’s relationship came to be. A time before their precious coffee bean entered their lives

It all started with that blasted first kiss. No, actually it might’ve begun way before, but the exact time? Nightmare wasn’t so sure. Those pitch black sockets did something to him. They put him in a trance he couldn’t escape. And, if he was being honest he didn’t want to.
Their relationship was disfuncional at best. Both of the skeletons were clearly attracted to each other and every time their sockets met, Nightmare’s eyelights lit with excitement. Before Killer appeared, he never knew how much he would crave for someone’s attention, his attention.
Killer was like an addiction, one that Nightmare certainly didn’t mind. He was enticing. From his lips slipped out flirtatious comments and words of praise that clouded Nightmare’s judgment. He knew better, he knew their relationship was unstable, and anyone with any common sense would have immediately put an end to it. But, he couldn’t. Not when his whole being begged for his affection, his touch, his embrace, and Killer’s whole being.
Ever since their first kiss, Nightmare found himself at the other’s mercy. Many sleepless and restless nights the violet skeleton promised himself that ‘this is the last time’ ‘just one more night’ but he always found himself circling back to that bastard.
There was also a time where Killer couldn’t stand the sound of Nightmare’s name being called. The violet skeleton carried an arrogant aura to him, looking down on those who weren’t on his level. His posture straight and rigid, his shoulders broad with pride. He was a pompous, self-absorbed, ass. But at some point, the small skeleton peaked his interest.
He had sworn that he would never develop an affinity for this stuck up skeleton. But look at him now, completely wrapped around his finger.
——————————————————————————
It always feels ridiculous doesn’t it? Having a crush on someone, who doesn’t have any feelings for you. Feeling your soul jump every time they look at you. Only to be reminded that you hold no special interest in their minds. It’s... painful. So, what’s the best solution? To simply bury it deep within yourself until it’s nothing but a silly memory. Not like Nightmare needed to do that, of course. Why would he? It’s not like he had feelings for anyone or anything.
Nightmare had witnessed first hand the consequences of forming relationships with other co-stars. It never took long for problems to arise. Nightmare refused to deal with any of it, he already had to deal with other personal matters. Why should he add to his stress?
Tired of the drama that followed, Nightmare swore to himself he’d never pursue a relationship with his fellow cast members. Well, that was before Killer managed to sneak himself into his thoughts. But, it’s not like he’d ever really want to date him. They were both guys... so that would be weird...
Although... it wouldn’t be the first time he felt something strange for a male coworker. Nightmare often found men attractive, but it’s not that he ever really liked any of them, or so he thought. So, this had to be the same right?
And as much as he hated to admit, Killer was one hell of an actor. When he first met him, Nightmare was convinced he was lazy, careless, and a poor excuse of an actor who just happened to get lucky. Killer would, on multiple occasions, show up late on set. Which, in turn, delayed the filming process. Though as Nightmare got to work with Killer more, he realized that Killer ensured that the most minuscule detail was executed properly. Not only that, but he would often improve scenes with his improvisation skills. He would fully immerse himself in his character almost as if it was an extension of himself.
As Nightmare watched from afar he was captivated by Killer’s performance. He’d never seen anyone else execute acting in the way Killer did. Nightmare would never admit it but he would often times find himself staring as the other acted out a scene. It was only a matter of time before Nightmare was caught by Killer. At first the eyeless skeleton thought it was a mere coincidence. But, when it happened a second time, then a third, and as it continued on, he was intrigued.
Killer had been certain that Nightmare couldn’t stand him, as he made it a point to always vocalize his disdain towards Killer. But, perhaps that wasn’t the case.
Eventually, Killer found himself continuously teasing the violet skeleton, in hopes of getting any reaction out of him. Nightmare was decisive, stubborn, and proud. Something that irked Killer, and yet he found alluring at the same time. Nightmare’s defiance only made him want to tear down that resolve even more. Maybe it had started out as a game, trying to see how far he could take it.
~~~~~
Killer cursed those beautiful violet orbs. Those eyelights put him under a spell. Was he always this attractive? The two were discussing something about Killer’s eyelights. Nightmare had been rambling on about Killer’s sockets saying how they were beautiful, like the night sky, or whatever, but at some point Killer had stopped listening. That sweet velvety voice of Nightmare’s just beckoned him closer and closer, until he could no longer resist. He gently placed his own lips on the other’s, throwing caution to the wind.
Once he pulled back, his sockets widened with shock. Oh, well that wasn’t supposed to happen. But did he regret it? Not one bit. Although, he would be lying if he said he didn’t feel his stomach churn when he saw Nightmare opening his mouth.
Oh, no. How would he explain this? He wasn’t entirely sure what he’d just done. No... scratch that, he knew exactly what he’d done. He just wasn’t sure what it fully entailed. Fortunately, he was saved when the director called for Nightmare.
Feeling his soul beat rapidly, Killer clenched the fabric covering his chest. What was wrong with him? It was just a kiss. It’s not like he’s never kissed anyone else before. What would make Nightmare, of all people, so special? Nothing, that’s what. He wasn’t anything special just another coworker. But then that wouldn’t explain why he couldn’t even look him in the eyes right now....
Was it just a kiss? It had only lasted a brief moment, but it was like no other he had experienced before. Killer shivered as he remembered the electric shock that coursed through his body when their lips touched. That certainly wasn’t an ordinary kiss, but Killer refused to accept it. There was just no possible way, that he was even remotely attracted to him. He wasn’t entranced by those violet orbs, he didn’t want to taste Nightmare’s sweet lips again, and he certainly wasn’t thinking about him now.
~~~~~
A few days passed since the kiss and Killer ensured to avoid the violet skeleton as much possible. Or, at the very least, he made sure they were never alone. He could see the annoyance and confusion in Nightmare’s eyes. He wanted answers and Killer wasn’t sure if he could provide any. He had an idea of what Nightmare could ask. ‘Why did you kiss me?’ But at this point, Killer wasn’t so sure. He was still trying to decipher that question himself. Was it possible..? No, there’s no way. But then again.. what other reason did he have? Did he.... did he actually like Nightmare..?
It was as if he’d been hit in the gut with realization. Oh.. maybe he did have a thing for that violet pompous ass. The only problem is, he wasn’t entirely sure what his exact feelings were.
~~~
Nightmare grumbled as Killer avoided him yet again. It had been over two weeks now that he had spoken to the eyeless skeleton privately. He had a thing or two to say to that asshole. Ever since that stupid kiss... Nightmare paused. He gently traced his lips with his fingers. It all happened too quickly, he didn’t even have time to register what happened when suddenly Killer’s lips were parting from his own.
Nightmare had just stared at the skeleton in front of him, dazed. He couldn’t think straight, a fog clouded his thoughts. He opened his mouth, wanting to question what just happened, but unfortunately he was interrupted by the director. He was foolish enough to leave because unbeknownst to him, Killer wouldn’t allow them to be alone for some time.
He needed to get him alone, but how? The violet skeleton placed a finger on his chin, brainstorming ideas. After a few minutes he let out a frustrated sigh, nothing. He couldn’t think of any possible way to isolate that idiot. Killer was sly and always appeared to know what Nightmare was up to.
“Cut!” A voice boomed from the set. “Alright everyone, that’s it for today! Great job as always! I’ll see everyone back here tomorrow!”
A lightbulb lit inside the skeleton’s head. This was his opportunity to confront Killer! He would have to change from his costume and remove that obnoxious make up. This would be his best bet to confront the other about the kiss, and he wasn’t going to waste it.
Nightmare waited a few minutes to allow the actor sufficient time to hopefully get his bearings together. The last thing he wanted to do was see Killer undressed... well.. not that he wouldn’t mind- actually that’s besides the point. Sucking in a deep breathe Nightmare’s hand hesitantly hovered over the doorknob. His stomach churned and an acidic taste pooled in his mouth. He was too engrossed in getting Killer alone that.. he completely failed to formulate a decent plan. Too late now, he’d just have to wing it.
The violet actor quickly knocked on the dressing room door, to provide a slight warning, and immediately turned the knob letting himself in. With as much courage as he could gather he stared right into Killer’s.. beautiful.. dark... elegant.. sockets... shit. This was going to be more difficult than he imagined.
“We need to talk!” Nightmare was thankful that his voice at least did not falter.
Killer stared at the skeleton in front of him, sockets blown wide in shock. He knew Nightmare had been trying to isolate the two of them, but he didn’t expect him to be so straightforward. It was rather interesting really.
Crap, Killer isn’t saying anything and panic overtook Nightmare’s initial burst of courage. A lump formed in his nonexistent throat and words failed him. He needs to confront Killer. He needs to know what that kiss meant. He needed to ease this uncertainty that gnawed at his soul.
Just. Say. Something. Anything! “You can’t just kiss people without permission!”
The violet skeleton tensed upon hearing his words. Like that was the biggest problem right now. That certainly wasn’t what he was planning on saying. Again, not like he had a plan to begin with but he definitely did not expect to say that.
Killer tilted his head to the side, lips curling into a smile, clearly fascinated by the events unfolding. He had braced himself to be bombarded with questions. To be called an asshole or some insult of sorts. But to his amusement the usually proud Nightmare was a nervous wreck in front of him. Quite adorable and alluring, actually. “Oh, right. My apologies.”
Apo- apologies?! What does that mean? So, did Killer not mean to kiss him? Or was he being insufferable yet again? Damn it! Just why did he have to be attracted to such an arrogant bastard?! “Why would you-“
“I guess I have a thing for you.” The eyeless skeleton mused as he threw his jacket over his shoulder. He wasn’t sure what type of reaction he was expecting. Annoyance, confusion, maybe even anger? But when he saw a purple hue tainting those white cheeks of his, Killer was genuinely surprised.
Nightmare froze. Did he hear Killer correctly? He had thought of several different answers that Killer might’ve given, and this wasn’t one of them. This response only served to bring new questions to surface. He knew Killer to be flirtatious and cunning, but he was not a liar. He felt his cheeks begin to burn and he was powerless to stop it. Strange emotions bubbled in his chest and threatened to overtake him. The strangest one of all being... that he was happy? But why would he be happy... that didn’t make any sense.
He wanted to provide some sort of response, maybe even a snarky remark but the words caught in his throat. He couldn’t form a single coherent thought much less a proper sentence.
“Well, I’m about to head to my place,” Killer’s words barely registered in Nightmare’s frantic mind. All he could do was provide a stare in response. “You want to come over?” When Nightmare made contact with those beautiful midnight sockets he sucked in a quick breathe. All the violet skeleton could do to keep from making a fool out of himself was nod.
Killer let out a breath and his once tense shoulders relaxed. “Cool.” He sounded indifferent but that’s only because he was trying to mask his enthusiasm. The skeleton grabbed his belongings and made his way out of the studio, with Nightmare following close behind.
~~~
As they strolled down the bustling sidewalk, Nightmare grew increasingly anxious. His mind raced with all sorts of ideas and scenarios. He just wanted to be prepared for anything, well that’s what he kept telling himself. Maybe they would talk about the kiss a little more? Or, maybe Killer would refuse to speak anymore on that matter. But, what if Killer kissed him again? That was a possibility. The eyeless skeleton did say he had a thing for Nightmare. Glancing at the taller skeleton in front of him Nightmare slightly frowned. What exactly did that mean?
Did he want a relationship with him? Was it possible that somehow Nightmare peaked Killer’s interest? Nightmare paused for a second before continuing to walk again. Maybe... Killer just wanted to have a one time thing with him? Nightmare was aware of the countless partners Killer had, and his various flings. He was a flirt and it wasn’t difficult for the taller skeleton to catch someone’s attention.
Nightmare’s gaze fell onto the paved sidewalk. He felt something ache within his soul. Maybe he had just gotten his hopes up for nothing. Well, it was to be expected. Why would Killer want to be with Nightmare? They constantly fight, there’s no logical reason for them to be together.
Nightmare paused for a second and his eyes widened. Wait. He was so enthralled by the kiss and busy with isolating Killer he hadn’t given this much thought. Did Nightmare want to be in a relationship with Killer? His male co-star? Then that would mean... that.... he... was attracted to men..?
No, that couldn’t be it. Surely he would’ve realized that sooner. Another pause. Well... he couldn’t be gay... because he was attracted to and had female partners. He glanced towards the tall skeleton. Was he attracted to him...? Maybe...? Could he possibly be bi?
There was that one guy last year that..... fuck.... Nightmare closed his eyes briefly and recalled all the previous partners he had and any male person he ever considered attractive...... Oh...... Ha.... great so on top of having to deal with Killer now he needed to question his own sexuality.
But.... if he was bi... it would certainly explain his affinity to previous male coworkers. He inwardly cursed at himself. Or course, it just had to be Killer, of all people who awakened this dormant side of his. This certainly added to the inner turmoil he was already experiencing.
Nightmare wasn’t the only one who ran various scenarios in his head. The eyeless skeleton could’ve sworn that Cross mentioned that Nightmare’s straight. But if that were true then wouldn’t have the smaller skeleton reacted in a different way? Surely a straight man would be disgusted if he were kissed by another man, right? Perhaps Cross made a mistake or misunderstood something. Well no matter he had other things to focus on.
He was still trying to understand what exactly made him be so attracted to someone as unbearable as Nightmare. Killer glanced back, and his gaze fell onto the skeleton’s mouth. Turning his head back, he had to admit he’d like to kiss those pretty little lips of his again. Except this time it would be a proper kiss. The eyeless skeleton shook his head, he was going off track.
Killer was certainly interested in Nightmare. He realized that much after the kiss. The smaller skeleton only succeeded in adding to his interest by his unexpected reactions in his dressing room. And now, he’s following him to his flat. Though, that could be because Nightmare is still seeking answers. The tall skeleton sighed, he wished he could have a casual relationship with Nightmare. Have some fun here and there with no commitment. But knowing how prudent the smaller skeleton was, he would probably never sleep with anyone that wasn’t a long time partner. Such a shame really, he would’ve loved to see how much it wouldve taken to unravel that facade of his.
~~~
Once they arrived at Killer’s apartment studio, Nightmare was immediately greeted by Killer’s kitten. The small skeleton stiffened as the feline circled around him before gently rubbing itself alongside his leg. He gave the eyeless skeleton a puzzled and concerned look. Nightmare didn’t know what to do. Would it be ok for him to move? Should he stay still? This was unfamiliar territory for the violet skeleton.
Killer chuckled before kneeling down and calling Crackers to return to his side. After one last nuzzle the kitten slowly trotted back next to Killer, meowing in response. The eyeless skeleton’s facial expression softened. He gave a radiant, warm, and kind smile as he gently stroked the kitten next to him. “I think Crackers likes you.” He murmured.
Nightmare gaped at the skeleton kneeling before him. He felt his soul beat loudly against his chest, almost certain that the other could hear it as well. Killer was so gentle, delicate, and affectionate. The violet skeleton had never seen this side of him before, and it only served to confuse him even further. Finally processing what the other had said he barely formed a response. “O-oh.. that’s good..”
Killer let out a soft laughter in return before slowly standing once more. “It sure is. So, you just going to stand there? Don’t worry, I don’t bite... well not unless you ask me to.” He winked before turning around and proceeded to his kitchen, with crackers following close behind.
Nightmare’s cheekbones burned upon hearing Killer’s flirtatious comment. It was almost comical how easily Killer could fluster him. He was never like this, not with anyone he could remember anyway. This isn’t good.. if this continues he’ll risk falling for Killer’s charm. But, maybe he already had. Why else would he be here this very instant. In the flat of the person he claimed to despise.
He glanced back at the door. He still had a chance to turn around, leave, and pretend nothing ever happened. That might have been the most reasonable thing to do, but his curiosity was too grand. Nightmare wanted to see where this would lead him. Against his better judgment, the small skeleton decided to stay. He had questions he needed answers to, and the only way he’d obtain them would be through Killer.
“You’re more than welcome to sit on the couch Nightlight,” Killer mused from the kitchen. “You look like a nervous high school student standing by the door like that.”
Nightmare’s face instantly flushed with a bright violet hue. He knew Killer loved pet/ nick names or whatever you want to call it. But he typically used the same generic ones like sweetheart, babe, dear, hot stuff, prick, ass, and various other things. Point is, he had never heard Killer call him by a nickname ever, especially not a variant of his actual name. Funny enough, if it was pitch black where you can’t see a millimeter in front of you, he would definitely be able to provide enough light from his blushing face.
“Y-you know what? This was obviously a mistake. I shouldn’t be here.” Nightmare’s nerves were getting the better of him. The more he stayed the more he felt he was losing himself. He couldn’t keep himself from staring at Killer’s lips, nor keep himself from wondering.. how the other would look without a shirt....
Let’s backtrack. When he opened Killer’s dressing room door, he managed to catch a glimpse of some bare ribs that wereusually hidden behind several articles of clothing. It was a forbidden treasure he shouldn’t have laid eyes on, because he couldn’t stop replaying that image in his head.
No, he was just confused. He doesn’t know what he wants. It’s all too much! First he discovers he likes Killer! Or maybe he doesn’t? Next he discovers he’s bi... or so he thinks. And to top it off he wouldn’t mind seeing Killer shirtless again! With his mind running amok he failed to realize that the taller skeleton approached him and trapped him with no escape.
“I thought you said you wanted to talk? About how I can’t kiss someone without permission?”
Killer’s voice pulled him from his thoughts. Upon looking up he was met with Killer’s dark vacant sockets. He knew killer said most people found them unnerving, but to nightmare they were like two mesmerizing black holes that sucked him in. His breathe hitched in his non existent throat. Without thinking and purely acting on instinct Nightmare clanked his teeth against Killer’s. It didn’t last more than a second, and that was him being generous about it.
But once he pulled away the small skeleton wanted to be swallowed by the earth and disappear forever. That was supposed to have gone better! What the hell was that?! It’s like he’s never kisssed anyone before which he has! He’s an actor for crying out loud! He knows he’s a good kisser!
Killer blinked a few times, processing the event that just occurred. It was unforeseen and certainly not what he expected at all. He chuckled before pulling back and rubbing his mouth a bit. “You’re a terrible kisser Nightingale.”
There he goes again, another nick name. That’s it. Nightmare has sealed his fate into the hands of a playboy and he put an embarrassingly little effort to prevent it. “S-shut it! I-I just tripped is all!”
Killer raised a brow in amusement “Oh? You tripped while standing still? That’s some talent.”
If there was any physical way to blush any harder Nightmare would have discovered it. His whole face and neck were glowing with a bright violet hue. “G-Go screw yourself!” Stuttered the violet skeleton as he shoved the taller away.
~~~~
The time went by with Killer mostly teasing Nightmare about his terrible kissing skills. Killer also mentioned that he indeed found the him to be physically attractive. The eyeless skeleton was not about to lay bare that he may have some possible feelings for the other. No, It’s too early for something like that. Besides that wasn’t his style. He’d rather keep a casual relationship.
A few hours passed and the pair had situated themselves on the couch. And once again Killer would not let up on Nightmare’s disastrous attempt of a kiss. “You should really practice some more. I feel bad for your co-stars who had to kiss you.” Killer mused. He found Nightmare’s reactions to be the most entertaining thing in the world. He still had planned to give the violet skeleton a proper second kiss, but he was having too much fun at the moment.
Nightmare had enough. Killer wanted a proper kiss? Then he’s getting what he deserves. Which is what exactly? Who knows but nightmare wanted to prove him wrong at the very least. Closing his eyes, he grabbed Killer by the collar, pulled him close, and placed a firm deep kiss on Killer’s lips. He shivered as he felt that electrifying sensation course through his being. Killer let out a muffled noise of surprise, but immediately wrapped his arms around Nightmare’s waist to pull him closer.
It felt so... perfect.. the way Nightmare’s body pressed against Killer’s... being wrapped in his arms, it just felt natural. The violet skeleton couldn’t remember feeling so at home within someone’s embrace. He wanted to stop time to savor this, and to burn the moment into his memory.
They were already so close, Nightmare could feel the gentle warmth Killer’s soul emitted. Yet it wasn’t enough. Bundling his collar in his fist the smaller skeleton pulled the other closer, an attempt to further minimize the space between them and adding a grating pressure against their lips. It brought some relief to his growing desire for the other, yet it did nothing to subdue it. As if realizing what the Nightmare felt Killer tilted his head to deepen the kiss.
~~~~
It was a tease, just how close Killer was to discovering how this violet skeleton tasted. Yet, the other refused to allow him entry. Killer could sense it, apart of Nightmare still hesitant to let himself get lost in the moment. Well Killer assumed so anyway, gathering by how tense the skeleton was. Fortunately for him, Killer had previous experience to help smooth that tension away. The eyeless skeleton tightened his embrace while sliding an hand to gently cup the back of Nightmare’s neck. A simple action that communicated his eagerness to dominate the kiss.
Sensing what Killer was trying to do, the violet skeleton refused to submit. No! He can’t do this! He began parting his lips in protest. It’s not fair! He started the kiss so Killer had to be the one to- in that moment Nightmare’s eyes widened as he felt something warm and slick slip past his teeth. Killer had a gift for knowing when a person’s defenses were down and never missed such a golden opportunity to overpower them. Especially when the current skeleton was someone who hardly lowered them.
Nightmare’s gravest mistake was to open his eyes and stare directly into the others black sockets. Even if he didn’t have eyelights Killer’s piercing stare had such intensity that Nightmare’s resistance melted instantaneously. He’d never had someone gaze at him with so much want before, and it was absolutely insane how thrilled that made him feel. Having Killer’s tongue inside his mouth was maddening, he’d never experience anything like it. Like Killer. He couldn’t think straight and he didn’t care. All his thoughts were overridden by Killer’s existence.
~~~~
It was as if something snapped inside him when the violet skeleton initiated that second, well technically third kiss. Killer didn’t know where this would take them, and honestly he didn’t care. Right now he’d go to the ends of the earth if that’s where the smaller skeleton lead him. He could feel Nightmare’s defiance through the kiss, not completely unexpected but it only fed his hunger for more. The violet skeleton had briefly parted his teeth as if to protest, and Killer being an opportunist decided to plunge his tongue into the other’s mouth.
The violet skeleton tasted similar to green apples, initially a sour taste but the more he explored his mouth he discovered a hint of sweetness. Killer opened his eyes, as something in the air had changed. The eyelights once crisp and clear with defiance that stared him down were now hazy and filled with desire. Nightmare no longer resisted instead he submitted to the skeleton before him. He firmly wrapped his arms around the eyeless skeleton pressing himself as close as he physically could.
It was all a blur, Nightmare closed his eyes for what seemed like a second and upon opening them again he was pinned on Killer’s bed. Strangely enough, he didn’t feel any distress being encaged by the other... he actually felt safe, protected, and shielded from any possible dangers. He welcomed the blanket of warmth the eyeless skeleton unknowingly provided. Meticulously, Killer weaved a hand underneath the layers of Nightmare’s clothes and carefully ran them alongside his ribs. The violet skeleton shivered as he felt Killer’s cool fingers delicately trace his warm and sensitive bones. He was astonished upon realizing how someone he considered to be brusque and rough could be so dexterous and gentle.
Nightmare took in a shaky breath as he felt Killer’s lips brush against his neck. Killer’s breath felt hot against his bare bones, sending a wave of heat throughout his soul. If he could actually form coherent thoughts he’d be absolutely embarrassed by how such simple actions easily unraveled him. Yet, now he wanted to do nothing more then to let himself get lost in the sensations.
Nightmare placed his hands on Killer’s broad chest. Even through the clothing the violet skeleton could faintly trace the outline of the others ribs. His breathe hitched in his nonexistent throat as his thoughts began to wander.
Killer was intoxicating. It seemed that with every little action the eyeless skeleton did it only served to fuel Nightmare’s craving for him.
Killer positioned himself to where he hovered merely centimeters away from Nightmare’s face. The taller’s face was flushed- his breathing ragged from the unfolding events. Nightmare’s own chest rose and fell quickly as he tried to recover as well. This was the first time since they initiated their kiss that Nightmare wasn’t enveloped in newfound sensations. He gazed into the eyes of Killer’s seemingly never ending sockets. Such a mystery... Nightmare never could seem to figure out exactly what the other was thinking. But having time to recollect his thoughts uncertainty gnawed at his initial enthusiasm.
Yes, Nightmare had partners before and he wasn’t completely clueless on adult matters. Except, he’d only ever been with women. His knowledge was extremely limited. He was growing anxious from his lack of experience, but decided against voicing his concerns. It couldn’t be that different, right? He was aware of the potential consequences if he stayed, and a part of him was hoping he’d be right.
As Killer panted, he let out a breathy chuckle. “Heh... and to think that... Crisscross thought you were straight..”
That question tore Nightmare from his thoughts and back to reality. Well... he wasnt wrong. Nightmare had only just, possibly, discovered he might indeed be bi.. but he himself wasn’t completely certain of that fact either. Maybe it was because his defenses were down, or because he was so entranced by Killer that he blatantly responded with “Yeah... so did I.” Immediately realizing what he just said he instantly clasped his mouth shut.
The eyeless skeleton tilted his head, troubled by the response he’d received. “What...? Nightlight.... what exactly do you mean?”
The violet skeleton squirmed under the watchful gaze of Killer’s sockets. It was... strange having the other have such concerning features displayed on their face. Especially when he was the cause of it. “N-nothing... just get on with it...” He shifted his head and eyelights to the side to avoid Killer’s interrogating stare.
The taller skeleton pulled away, he narrowed his eyes in a pensive manner. As if, trying to complete a puzzle with the few pieces of information he’d been provided. After several excruciating seconds of silence Killer responded, “You’ve... never been with a guy before have you?”
Silence. It was the only way Nightmare could respond. Why did it matter if he’d been with another man or not? What difference did it make? He bit his lip, he’s already come so far already, only for it to be ruined by something so insignificant. “Ive.... slept with other people...” He knew he couldn’t lie, at least not in this situation. Killer would be able to tell... or somehow get him to confess. So his best option was to answer yet avoid the question with a simple truth.
The eyeless skeleton furrowed his brow bones together. It bothered him. Contrary to what most people liked to believe he wasn’t a complete idiot. It was fairly obvious to deduce that from his previous reactions that Nightmare hadn’t been with a man before. That isn’t what irked him. No, he was upset that somehow the small skeleton didn’t trust him enough to confess he would be his first.
Once again silence filled the room. The violet skeleton could feel his soul hammering against his chest. He wanted to do nothing more then to curl up into a ball and disappear. Why was Killer being so silent? Did it really make a difference if he was experienced or not? Nightmare felt his soul drop. Could it be that... He preferred to have a partner with experience...?
“But not with a man..... Nightlight..... look at me.” Killer’s voice was stern and unwavering. It took Nightmare’s entire will power, not to turn his head to glance at the skeleton. He couldn’t. He was too scared, anxious, and upset to look at him.
“Nightmare. Look at me.” Killer demanded, his voice filling the painstakingly quiet room. The violet skeleton’s head instantly snapped to face the other. He couldn’t refuse Killer, not in that tone. The eyeless skeleton never used anyone’s actual name unless requested... or if it was a serious matter. For as long as he’d known Killer, he’d never called him by his given name. He swallowed dryly, his stomach churning fearful of what the other could possibly be thinking.
“A-and if I haven’t....? Then what... are y-you just going to leave me?” Nightmare’s voice trembled terrified he’d be abandoned and cast aside. Like in the past. He despised everything that was happening at this very moment. From the way his voice trembled, the was his sockets burned- threatening to spill tears, and how helpless he felt. He hated it all. Killer wasn’t anything to him. They were companions... maybe not even that they were just costars. Why...? Just why... he shouldn’t be feeling this way. So, why did his heart ache?
Killer froze. He’d never seen Nightmare in such a state before. Sure Killer was upset that the smaller skeleton hadn’t communicated the situation appropriately, that’s the main reason he asked for clarification in the first place. He never mentioned leaving. Why would the other think that in the first place? Certainly something must’ve happened in his past to conjure up an idea like that. Well.. he would have to uncover the secrets and fears the skeleton kept hidden another day. For now he needed to ease Nightmare’s current worries.
“Don’t be ridiculous, I’m still planning on finishing what I started.” He’d wink and offer a playful smirk, hoping to relieve some of the tension forming in the air. Nightmare only offered a couple of blinks in return causing tears to spill from his sockets.
“Then why-“
“Well, I wouldn’t want to scare you by going full out you know? It’s not the same if you’re used to always being the one giving verses being on the receiving end.”
Nightmare’s face flushed with a bright violet hue. Even if it was true, it was still rather embarrassing to hear out loud. Especially since he was enticed by the words ‘going full out.’ “I-I.... you.... it’s not a big deal... it’s not.. that different is it..?”
Killer shrugs “Well from personal experience.. you don’t just want someone sticking it in with no warning. It’s kind of a pain in the ass.”
Nightmare barely resisted the urge to shove the other away. He couldn’t believe it! He was absolutely shameless! Making such ridiculous and crude comments like it was nothing! How could he- Nightmare’s initial indignation quickly dissipated when he saw the playful and carefree smile that formed on the other’s face. It was such a lighthearted action- Oh. Was Killer just trying to help him relax? That was... sweet of him. Still, there had to be better ways he could’ve gone about that.
“Idiot...” The violet skeleton muttered with a traitorous smile forming on his lips. Killer chuckled in response and gently placed a delicate kiss on the others lips. Melting most of the small skeletons troubles away. “So... you caught me... I don’t have experience... so now what..?
“Hmmm,” the taller skeleton mused “Well now that I know I’m your first, I’ll be sure to make it special.” The unbearable smirk formed on Killer’s lip, causing the small skeleton to draw in a quick breathe. “I’ll be sure to ease you into it...” Nightmare squirmed and whined as he felt the others cool hand gently caress the sides of his ribs. “All you have to do is relax.. let me do all the work.. and I’ll take care of you..”
“Oh but one more thing....” Killer lightly tugged at his shirt . “This is staying on...”

That’s the end of the first chapter of this story! It’s based on @help-im-a-gay-fish headcanon(s) and some rp’s that we’ve done! I tried finding it but I just couldn’t find the specific post! However it mentioned Nightmare finding Killer’s eyes very appealing, leading to Killer kissing Nightmare, and them going to someone’s apartment to “talk.”
Also thank you gayfish! You helped me write a good bit of the story!

The buzzing of people could be heard in the distance. Nightmare swirled the glass of wine in his hand, as he recalled his first night with Killer. Even if he’d never admit it out loud, it was a night he’d never forget. He continued to swirl the liquid and a warm sensation blanketed his cheekbones. He scoffed, was he completely that far gone that by remembering that moment could cause his face to flush?
No. It must be the wine.
He furrowed his brow bones together upon inspecting his reflection in the drink. He was frustrated, angry, and disappointed in himself. He knew relationships with other costars hardly ever ended well. He was determined to never pursue any form of relationship with any other celebrity. So... then why exactly did follow Killer, of all people, back to his place? He chuckled bitterly. Because he was an idiot that’s why. He gritted his teeth, and he cursed at himself for believing that maybe something could’ve formed between the two.
He very clearly remembered the moments that unfolded the morning following their first night. Nightmare awoke to Killer’s sleeping face merely centimeters from his own, causing his mind to jump start. He felt embarrassed, ashamed, and conflicted. He’d never been so desperate for someone before, and recalling his behavior made his self-loathing greater. What kind of person just hooks up with someone you think- you possibly might- have a tiny crush on?
However, seeing those gentle features displayed on Killer’s sleeping face, made his soul skip a beat. He had an unexplained urge to gently trace the skeletons lips, caress his cheeks, and to lay a warm delicate kiss on the skeleton sleeping in front of him. He shook his head. No. No, he cant, he shouldn’t, and he won’t. This would be the one and only night this sort of thing ever happened. He promised himself, this would be the last time.
As Killer’s chest rose and fell rhythmically, the violet skeleton slightly shifted under the covers. Maybe, he would be able to sneak away. He’d pretend like nothing happened and continue his daily activities like normal. Nightmare would just have to avoid Killer for a few weeks.. because he wouldn’t be able to look the other in the sockets without remembering their first night. Finally determined to escape, his plans were quickly thrown out the window when he made contact with Killers sockets. He was awake.
Maldita sea, porque tuvo que despertarse ahorita??Damn it, why did he have to wake up now??
The small skeleton’s body tensed, wondering what berating comments the other would voice. Except, after a minute of silence, nothing. The taller skeleton just gazed at his companion, almost if trying to convince himself that they actually spent the night together. That it wasn’t just a dream. After a few minutes of silence Killer smiled “Well, good morning, Nightlight. Sleep well?”
Nightmare’s cheeks instantly flushed and he snapped his head away to avoid Killer’s captivating sockets. The last thing he needed was to have a repeat of last night. “Yeah, I did. You’re bed is... really comfortable...”
After hearing Killer chuckle, Nightmare decided to glance at him. “I bet it was.. especially after our little workout session.”
Nightmare nodded, not brave enough to verbally respond. His face was so flushed, he was scared his voice would betray him. How absolutely humiliating! How is it Killer can be so... casual?! Like if it’s just another day, while he’s resisting the urge to crawl into a hole!
Not wanting to stay any further and chance that Killer would suggest an encore, Nightmare shifted to the edge of the bed. “W-well.. thank you for having me,” Cállate la boca Nightmare- (Shut your mouth Nightmare) “It was fun,” Que estás diciendo idiota (what are you saying idiot), “But this was a one time event, and I have to leave.”
Nightmare screamed internally as he couldn’t seem to shut himself up. Once he got started the words just kept spilling from his mouth. He was desperate to leave with the little dignity he had left. But, even that was wavering the longer he stayed beside the eyeless skeleton. However, after hearing Killer’s response he froze, “Awe, leaving already? That’s a shame... I was hoping you’d stick around. It’s too bad that it was a one time thing, too. Oh well, thank you for an unforgettable night, Nightingale.”
He should’ve left. He should’ve paid no mind to what Killer just said, and maybe it would have spared him future suffering. But, he couldn’t help but think, did that mean that Killer wanted to be with him? His soul began to ache. Maybe, there was a possibility Killer felt the same? No. No, he shouldn’t read into Killer’s words. There was no way the other would want anything above a casual fling. Yet, his idiotic self decided to stay, maybe just maybe it would lead to something.
Sneering the violet skeleton turned to face the other. It was the only way he could mask his inner turmoil. “I thought.... after a one night fling we just go our separate ways. Pretend like nothing happened. Usually with little to no talking involved...”
The taller’s expression remained indifferent but a slight smile played on his lips. “Well.. that depends on you, Nightingale. Do you want it be a one night fling? If that’s what you want I’ll respect your wishes.”
“So, either it’s a one night stand... or I become one of your sleep around buddies.. lovely.” Nightmare rolled his eyes. Killer was a well known sleep around so, he honestly shouldn’t be surprised.
“Either way... I could definitely go for a morning round.” The eyeless skeleton winked as he placed both hands behind his back.
The violet skeleton flushed as soon as he heard those words. He should’ve been furious, disgruntled, or indignified by those words. Yet, he drew in a shaky breathe at the mention of another opportunity to be with the taller skeleton.
Once he realized what he was thinking he froze. No! No! No! Nonononono! He shook his head and jumped to the side the bed. Nightmare scowled at Killer who chuckled, amused by the smaller’s reaction. “Y-you stupid unbearable prick! What m-makes you think I’d spend a second longer here with you?!”
“Awe, Nightingale you’re hurting my feelings.” Killer faked a sniffle- mocking to be hurt. “Here I thought you had a great time by the way you were-“
“Killer! Shut your face hole!” The violet skeleton exclaimed and grabbed the nearest pillow, flinging it towards Killer’s face. “Porque tuve que pasar la noche con un idiota como tú?!” (Why did I have to spend the night with an idiot like you?!)
“..........” Killer removed the pillow that was smothering his face. A puzzled look covered his face, confused by what the other just said. “Nighty, you know I don’t know Spanish right? What did you say?”
“Good! I’m glad! If you really want to know figure it out yourself!”
The eyeless skeleton raised a brow, now even more curious about what the other said. “I feel like you called me an idiot again.”
Nightmare smirked, and placed his hands on his hips. “And if I did? What are you going to do about it?”
Killer smirked and swiftly sat straight up- a sly smile forming on his lips. “Is that a challenge?”
Nightmare gulped. Shit... What exactly was he thinking? Clearly, he wasn’t when he responded. “Ah- well- no- uhm... you see- I... I have to go!” Nightmare hurriedly grabbed his belongs. “It’s late and I have a busy day today!” Not wanting to allow the other an opportunity to respond the violet skeleton just rambled whatever his flustered mind could come up with. “It was a- you’ve been so great.... I’ll see you- I better get going bye!”
~~~~
The violet skeleton groaned in embarrassment. Oh, how he wished he could purge that memory from his mind. Maybe, he’d be able to if he drank enough today, that always seemed to obscure his memories. He downed the liquid from the glass, and set it on the table with a clank. He ran a hand across his face as his cheeks burned.
He sighed as he remembered the promise he made to himself that day. That it was supposed to be an isolated incident. It was meant to be the one and only night. His excuse, was that he needed time to explore and self discover his new sexuality. He couldn’t do that with peacefully when someone like Killer enveloped his thoughts at all time.
He snorted, from yet another memory. He had avoided Killer for a few weeks following that morning after he spent the night. He couldn’t really face the eyeless skeleton. The distance did help clear his mind. He was still rather confused about being bi, but the more he contemplated it the more he realized it made sense.
Now the issue was what exactly did he feel for that stupid playboy. He was frustrated. Not only did he have to figure out his sexuality now he had to question his feelings for that unbearable bastard. He also couldn’t pretend like nothing happened with Killer. He wished he could. Just go to their usual banter as if that night was just a strange dream.
But no, anytime he made eye contact with those midnight sockets... heat rose to his cheeks. He thought it was best to avoid Killer. That way he wouldn’t risk falling pray to that charisma of his.
To make a long story short, Killer had confronted the violet skeleton in his dressing room. He managed to discover that Nightmare had yet to publicly announce he was bisexual. It wasn’t a surprise to Killer, not really, since he knew how reserved this small skeleton was.
The eyeless skeleton offered to keep their relationship a secret. Killer was clearly interested in continuing their intimate interactions. Which only served to confuse Nightmare even more. He was unsure on what he wanted. But, then Killer offered to provide him with new and better experience. If that night was good, and Killer was offering something even better, then wouldn’t he be a fool to refuse?
~~~~
Nightmare gripped his glass tightly, almost shattering it before he unclenched his fist. He was an idiot for agreeing to something ridiculous as a promise of a good time. Killer had agreed to keep their relationship a secret and therefore he should’ve kept Nightmare’s discovery as a bisexual a secret, as well. But what did this moron do? He went to tell his best friend, Cross. Nightmare had been very explicit in verbalized his refusal to let anyone know. He truly was an fool for trusting Killer.
Nightmare let out a bitter laugh. And once he decided to confront the eyeless skeleton, Killer became defensive! Stating that Cross “doesn’t count because he’s different.” Well it did count for Nightmare.
He felt betrayed, he’d convinced himself that Killer was someone he could trust. Yet, this proved he shouldn’t have trusted anyone other than himself. He was sure Killer would’ve attempted to shrug the problem away like it was nothing, so he brought Dream over. In hopes that another perspective would make Killer understand. However, when trying to communicate to Killer why Nightmare was so upset, Killer decided to rebuttal even more.
The eyeless skeleton mentioned that he wasn’t given the option to decide when to come out, that someone else had revealed it to the rest of the world. Killer pulled out his phone and stated “All it would take is a simple post on social media and everyone will know.” Nightmare’s soul sank. In that moment he feared that Killer was threatening him. Thankfully, the eyeless skeleton slipped his phone back in his pocket not doing anything else. Yet, the fear that had settled in, hadn’t vanished.
He was furious that Killer would even mention that in these circumstances. As things unfolded, the situation appeared to have escalated. To the point where Killer brought to light some confidential secrets.
Secrets that Nightmare had confessed to him, regarding how he felt towards his twin brother. He made sure to mention how much Nightmare envied the golden skeleton. How Dream never had to work as hard as he did, how he naturally got the spot light, and how easily others liked him. How nightmare wished Dream would go somewhere far far away so he wouldn’t have to share the fame and glory with him. “If only he were gone.” Killer stated mimicking nightmare’s voice.
Nightmare gritted his teeth as he recalled that night. It hadn’t been long ago, maybe a few weeks? But he could vividly remember like it was yesterday. Killer had no right to bring about those dark buried secrets to the surface again, nor did he have a right to blabber about his relationships and sexuality.
Least to say, that conversation didn’t end well. Dream was left in tears, Nightmare was consumed with rage and guilt, and Killer was left in a foul mood. Nightmare refused to even look in Killer’s direction afterwards. These were the game’s Killer wanted to play? Fine, but Nightmare wasn’t going to partake in this. Not anymore.
~~~~
He let out a sigh as he stared at his empty wine glass. He still refused to even consider talking with the taller skeleton. He hated that eyeless bastard with every fiber of his being. He couldn’t stand him. The way he acted all conceited and narcissistic... he was the absolute worst!
“Is this seat taken?” A deep voice asked, one that Nightmare would recognize anywhere. A part of him wondered, that if he ignored him and pretended not to hear anything that maybe he would leave. But, that was just wishful thinking. After a brief second he looked up at the person beside him and sure enough there stood Killer.
“Oh, are you actually asking if you can sit here? What a surprise, I was under the impression that you only do as you please.” Nightmare said in a cold, snarky tone. Killer recoiled, guilt flashing across his face. The violet skeleton narrowed his eyes. Good. If Killer thought he could just waltz in, pretend like nothing happened, well he had another thing coming.
“Nightlight...”
“Don’t. Don’t you dare call me that.”
Disheartened, Killer’s shoulders dropped realizing that Nightmare most likely wanted nothing to do with him. He couldn’t blame him. Not after what he did those few weeks ago. Nightmare was sensitive about that topic, he’d always been concerned about his reputation. It was a fact that Killer was well aware of. He would never disclose that information to other’s he didn’t trust. Granted, he should’ve communicated with Nightmare that he had mentioned their relationship with Cross.
See, Cross wasn’t just anybody. He was his best friend, essentially a brother, his found family. Someone that Killer had absolute trust and confidence in. He wasn’t the type of person who would go running his mouth, gossiping to others.
Killer had taken offense that Nightmare was so accusatory, as if he had spilled his deepest secrets to the whole universe. That wasn’t the case. If only Nightmare would listen he would’ve explained to him, that what he had done was no different from what Nightmare did with Dream.
But no, he refused to listen and even dragged his brother into their private matters. It was only natural to grow defensive and aggravated, right? If Nightmare wanted to paint him as the villain then so be it, he’d be the bad guy to this story. He knew exactly what he was doing, knew that his words would hurt the twins, and in that moment he was hoping it would.
Of course having time to settle down and reflect on his actions he instantly regretted it. However, it was too late to take back the words that spewed from his mouth. The only thing he could do was apologize, but he knew full well he didn’t deserve to be forgiven.
Yet, it was painful knowing he’d hurt the small skeleton. Nightmare was a friend, someone Killer genuinely cared for. It was unfortunate that he saw and experienced first hand that dark side of him. He wasn’t just another person for Killer to sleep around with, he was different from the rest, and at the time Killer couldn’t place just why. But he certainly didn’t want the other to distance himself completely.
Killer sighed and sat next to Nightmare at the bar, and ordered himself a drink. “Nightmare... I just want to talk. About what happened the last time we were together.”
Nightmare proceeded to order another glass of wine, how many had that been now, 3 or 4? It was hard to say, and the violet skeleton didn’t bother to keep track. “That’s funny, because I don’t think there’s anything to talk about.”
The eyeless skeleton knew it wasn’t going to be easy, but he didn’t expect it to be this difficult. Every remark that Nightmare made sent a rush of guilt through his body. He remained silent for a minute contemplating on what to say next.
After that whole incident Dream intended on banning Cross from ever seeing Killer again. He refused to have his boyfriend interact with someone so destructive as Killer. Thankfully, Cross had managed to convince Dream to talk to Killer again. After exchanging a couple of words and explaining himself. The eyeless skeleton was able to apologize to Dream for his behavior. Which thankfully,Dream accepted. The golden skeleton also brought to light that his twin had finally announced he was bisexual on social media. It was a surprise to Killer, he didn’t expect Nightmare to come forth so soon.
“I uh... saw that you came out publicly. That’s good to hear...” Killer mentioned, trying to find a topic to converse about.
“Yeah, I thought why not? Better for it to come from me than have someone expose me later, don’t you think?” The violet eyed skeleton smiled coldy and looked directly at Killer. The taller skeleton shrunk in his seat, he felt a deep sense of agonizing remorse course through his soul. He really made a terrible mistake, he was well aware, but did Nightmare really have to keep reminding him? Guess it’s what he deserved. He just didn’t expect it to tear at him as it did.
The drinks they’d ordered finally arrived and Nightmare didn’t hesitate to start gulping down his wine. Killer just held the cup in his hands staring at the ripples that formed within it. He had attempted to ease the tension between them, however it appeared it was all in vain. The violet skeleton made it painfully clear where he stood with the taller. “Nightmare, I want to apologize. I know the way I reacted was wrong. I shouldn’t have said those things about your brother... and I should’ve talked to you first regarding Cross.”
“See, that’s the thing. I simply cannot understand why you would even need to tell him anything. What we have- had was a private matter.”
“I understand that, I should’ve respected your boundaries. I really am sorry for crossing that line.” Killer paused trying to find the right words to say. “But.... let me just explain why I did it. You’ve talked to Dream right... about us....? Because he’s your brother and someone you trust. That’s what Cross is to me.”
Another pause.
“We may not be related by blood, but he’s practically my brother. He’s my found family Night... and I got upset because I felt you were disrespecting my family. I know what I did was wrong. I’m not expecting you to forgive me. But, I still wanted to apologize.”
Silence. Nightmare set the wine glass at the table, pursing his lips together registering what the other had said. Guess he really couldn’t argue with Killer. He did confide in Dream about his relationship with Killer, the frustrations and confusion that the taller skeleton caused. If what Killer said is true, then he really would have no right to be upset with him. Maybe he was overreacting but then again, he was very clear on not wanting others to know just yet.
“I suppose, I understand your perspective.” Nightmare let out a long sigh. “Whatever the case, we can’t take back what’s been done. I’m still upset that you told someone without consulting me first. But, might as well move past it. Since, we’ll most likely work on other projects in the future. Wouldn’t want our insignificant issues to cause problems on set, right?”
Killer winced at his words. Nightmare was definitely trying to stay professional, but he could hear the hidden message behind his words. Sure, he said he understood and perhaps was receptive of his apology. But he was still bitter about that night. “Yeah... we wouldn’t want that.....” He chugged his beverage, before standing and turning to face Nightmare. “Well, it’s getting late I should probably get going. I’m staying at the Jasmine hotel a few blocks from here.”
Nightmare’s hand twitched, a mix of emotions formed in his core. A sense of excitement, confusion, frustration, and others he couldn’t name right away. It was outrageous how that simple phrase could unwind him, there was no clear indication that Killer wanted Nightmare to join him, but it near bordered that idea.
Just that simple thought of repeating those heated nights caused his soul to flutter in his chest. No, he couldn’t. It would only show Killer that all he needed to do was promise him a good time and he’d be at his mercy. He already told himself, that he was not going to be one of Killer’s toys... not someone he could go to as he desired.
Yet, that idea didn’t necessarily appall him. Why, just why did he have to be the one to confused him so? He had a vague notion as to why, but he refused to accept it. “Oh? Why are you telling me this exactly? It’s not like I have a need to know.”
The eyeless skeleton furrowed his brow bones together. Why did he tell Nightmare where he was staying? It’s not like he wanted to sleep with him, he wasn’t an imbecile who would press his luck so soon. He was more than glad Nightmare was even conversing with him right now. He bit his bottom lip attempting to figure out the answer himself. “No real reason... I thought I’d just mention it... in case you’d like to talk some more. Well... I’m off.. it was nice talking to you again, Nightmare.”
With that Killer walked away and exited the building. Nightmare was left alone with his drink in hand. He glanced back as the tall skeleton weaved his way towards the doors. That should’ve been the end of it. All he had to do was go back to his own hotel, relax, and let this whole thing blow over. It was as simple as that. He would no longer be tied to that insufferable beautiful eyed skeleton.
“............”
Did he really just think that...? He turned back to face the near empty glass in his hand. Maybe he did have one too many glasses of wine. Killer was right, it was getting late. He should head back to his place..... or.... he could stay for a few more minutes. He would just have one more glass to ease his mind.
Alright so here is the second part to Killer Night(s)! I’m sorry if this chapter seems a bit rushed, but I didn’t want to make the story too long. I wanted to provide a little bit of background, and show that not everything was great between Nightmare and Killer.
This was one of the first few obstacles the two had to face, and everything is so very complicated between those two. And they don’t make it any easier for themselves.
Anyway... The main purpose for this chapter was to set the tone for the next one! Which I hope you all will enjoy!
