Lux to illuminate your house

i adore the idea of cross and killer falling first, and the apple twins falling harder.

with cream, maybe it's the old comics talking, but cross falling fast for dream has always made sense to me. of course he would. dream is the guardian of positivity, warmth incarnate, a being whose very presence amplifies hope. falling for him would feel effortless. natural. almost inevitable.

and that's exactly why dream rejecting him matters so much.

because to grow up as one of the apple twins is to grow up weaponized. love isn't simple when your energy alters the emotional state of others. dream questioning whether cross loved him as a person, or simply reacted to the positivity he radiates, is devastatingly self-aware. it's not cruelty, but caution. it's the burden of wondering if you're even "dateable," or just chemically compelling.

so cross potentially stepping back, giving dream space, and choosing patience over pursuit? that's where it becomes real. that's where dream slowly, deliberately, falls - for the noble, thoughtful, stubbornly devoted skeleton who sees him beyond the glow.

and then there's killermare - cough drifting from canon cough

i like the thought that killer needed time. that love wasn't immediate, but inevitable. nightmare pulled him from a dead timeline, handed him purpose, structure, direction. that kind of rescue - even morally warped - imprints. devotion grows in places like that.

while i don't see nightmare as overtly romantic, or even particularly interested in love, killer is...killer. charming, undeniably, but also persistent, loyal, and unshakably committed. the kind of commitment that doesn't just serve a king, but radiates - friends, cats, everything he refuses to abandon. seeing someone hold onto life despite everything his mind tries to collapse into certainly doesn't go unnoticed.

especially passive would see that and ache, i feel.

nightmare knows he would fall - problem is, he can't allow it. he can't trust a good ending to take root in a life that has been nothing but betrayal and pain. every yearning of passive buried deep inside him whispers that it must be possible - and it kills nightmare every time he allows himself to imagine it.

Okay, to start, I really love their dynamic of someone strong but needing support (Cross) with someone courageous and who can support you (Dream), or friends to lovers if you prefer.

Since I started reading the comics (the ones I could find), I fell in love with this ship, not just because they have a healthy relationship, whether as friends or as a couple, but because of the strong connection they have (including the scenes of them helping each other in Underverse).

In my opinion, they have an excellent story of overcoming adversity that could have been better utilized and appreciated more.
