New tobacco use prevention PSAs from El Camino Real High School. The students wrote scripts, prepared storyboards, created the artwork, recorded voiceover, and animated their films in just five school periods.

This project has a special place in my heart, because as you see, "The Shark Who Took a Toke" is done in 3 languages - English, Spanish, and Tagalog. At first, there was question as to whether the English learners would be able to participate due to the language barrier.

With a little leadership and teamwork, we were able to have everyone participate by having volunteer leaders translate for non-English speaking students. The students worked together to create one of the best PSAs of the school year! What I love about Royer Studios' Animate Your Awareness Messages workshop is that it boosts confidence by providing a way for all students to contribute their talents to a worthwhile project, encourages creativity and collaboration, and encompasses the best of project-based learning.
