On her first day at an elite exchange academy, a little more than orientation nerves caused her to get lostâuntil she crosses paths with Naomi, the dangerously charming and unreadable Student Council President.
What begins as a simple request for directions spirals into something far more unsettling as sheâs singled out, watched, and quietly claimed under the councilâs polished smiles and unspoken rules.
And as his gaze lingers with promise rather than welcome, one truth settles in: at this school, being noticed may be the most dangerous thing of all.
I looked around the building, excited for a fresh start. I nudged the nervous boy beside me. âCome on Rio. We just got accepted for the exchange program for a famous and rich school! Youâre acting like someone will eat you.â I teased, making a biting motion with my mouth.
âYea Ri-Ri~ loosen up would you? Youâve been shaking since we got on the plane.â Tsunjael comments, nudging his shoulder.
Rio rolled his eyes, nudging him back. âYouâre right. Nothing is as scary as you.â
We all burst into laughter, Tsunjael pretending to snap his teeth at Rioâs arm as if he might actually bite him.
Who knew I would get lost on the first day. Well, Orientation Day.
I was with the rest of the group just a moment ago. One trip to the bathroom and everyone vanished. I couldnât even call anyone because I gave Rio my bag and phone when I went to the bathroom!
By the fifth wrong turn I thought about just ending it and jumping out the window when a student appeared. It A student stood near the corridorâs end, posture relaxed, expression unreadable. A silver badge glinted on his chestâstudent council. Relief rushed through me.
I hurried over and grabbed his arm without thinking, squinting to read the name engraved on the badge.
Naomi.
âH-Heyâ! Iâm kinda lostâŠâ I muttered. âYou think you can help me?â
That was when I really looked at him.
Pink hair, soft but sharp at the edges. Blue eyes kissed with gold, like sunlight trapped beneath ice. Beautiful in a way that felt⊠dangerous.
The boy looked down at me like I was a puzzle heâd already solvedâand was enjoying anyway. A slow smile tugged at his lips, all mischief and secrets.
âOh?â he murmured, tilting his head. âA lost little birdie wandering into forbidden halls on her first day?â His blue eyes flickered with something warmâgoldenâbefore he leaned just a bit closer. âHow rare...â
His gaze swept over me, unhurried, deliberate, like he was savoring the moment. âYou really should be more careful,â he added softly, amusement lacing every word. âSomeone might take advantage of how⊠helpless you look.â
Then, as if remembering himself, he straightened and tapped his badge. âNaomi,â he said. âAnd if youâre very nice, I might guide you back to your flock.â
His smile widened. âOr,â he shrugged lightly, âI could lead you somewhere far more interesting.â
I blinked momentarily at him. ââŠJust guiding me back is good enough..â I said, a bit taken aback by his words.
It didnât take long for me to spot the group of exchange students all heading into the auditorium. I turned back around to him.
âThank you. Appreciate it.â I said with a curt nod. As I turned to leave, he caught my wrist.
âSit with me.â
Before I could protest, he steered me through a side entrance and up the stairsâhigher and higherâuntil we reached the very top row of the hall.
ââŠCan I really sit here?â I asked, caution fogging my head.
He leaned in, lips brushing my ear, his voice a velvet whisper.
âWait and find out.â
The auditorium slowly emptied, students filing out in neat clusters as the echo of footsteps filled the grand hall. At the front, a line of students remained behindâdistinct from the rest by their posture alone.
The student council.
They stood like they owned the building. Maybe they did. NaomiâThe Student Council Presiden;I shouldâve read the badge more carefully;stopped before the group of exchange students, his gaze sweeping over them.
And lingeringâbrieflyâon me.
âWelcome,â he said, voice smooth, pleasant enough to sound sincere. âYouâll be split into groups. Each of us will guide you through a portion of the campus.â
Murmurs of excitement rippled through the exchange students.
âThink of this as a⊠courtesy,â a sharp-eyed girl added. âYouâre guests here, after all.â
Naomi smiled at that. âYes. Guests.â
He stepped closer and clasped his hands behind his back. âNowânames will be called. When you hear yours, come forward.â
As names were read, students were pulled into different groups, guided away by council members who already seemed to be judging them.
I felt a strange knot in my chest as Naomiâs eyes flicked to me again.
ââAnd you,â he said suddenly, pausing mid-list.
My head snapped up.
âYouâll be with me.â
I spent most of the tour texting Rio and Tsunjael, frantically recounting my encounter with Naomi. They were with Lennox, the Vice Presidentâapparently far friendlier, which felt wildly unfair.
âOh is that so?â A whisper fannned my ear, making me tense.
I shivered, covering my ears. âIt is not nice to look at otherâs screens.â I protest, pressing the phone to my chest.
He only smirked.
He walked away slowly, hands in his pockets, allowing the group to trail behind him once more. The other council membersâ voices echoed faintly from distant corridors.
âThis wing houses advanced classrooms,â Naomi said casually. âRestricted access after hours. If youâre caught wandering here without permissionâŠâ He glanced back, smile faint. âThe consequences are unpleasant.â
A nervous laugh rippled through the group. Naomi didnât laugh.
We stopped near a tall arched window overlooking the inner courtyard.
âBeautiful, isnât it?â he asked. âMost students never see it from this angle.â
His gaze drifted to me again. âSome views are reserved.â
One of the exchange students raised a hand. âUmâare there any rules we should know about?â
Naomi hummed thoughtfully. âRules?â He tilted his head. âOf course.â
He stepped closer to the group, lowering his voice just enough that everyone leaned in.
âDonât lie to the council,â he said softly. âDonât embarrass us. And donât assume kindness is the same as safety.â
His eyes met mine as he finished, gold glinting beneath blue.
âIf youâre favored,â he added, almost gently, âyouâll thrive here.â
A pause.
âIf notââ His smile returned, sharp and beautiful. âWell. This school has a way of reminding people where they stand.â
He straightened, clapping his hands once. âTour continues. Try to keep up.â
By the end of it, he slowed enough to walk beside me.
âStill think Iâm not friendly?â he asked lightly. âI brought the lost birdie back to her flock.â His tone scoffedâhis smile didnât. âAnd not even a thank you.â
âYou seem awfully invested,â I muttered.
âI donât usually pay this much attention to others,â he admitted, eyes glinting. âConsider yourself⊠exceptional.â
I narrowed my eyes. âIs that supposed to make me feel lucky?â
He hummed, gaze drifting ahead.
âIt will,â he said softly. âEventually.â
When the tour ended, the teachers announced that all of us would be separated into housesâŠ? Like we were in Harry Potter or something. Apparently our houses didnât matter for the most part, just that we would use it for events. (Guess rich schools canât be normal and just call it Sport Houses.)
The hall was quiet in the way only expensive places ever wereâhushed, reverent, waiting.
We stood in rows beneath a vaulted ceiling painted with winged figures in gold leaf. At the front loomed four banners, each one heavy with embroidery and history. They shimmered faintly, as if alive.
𩱠AURELIONâGold & Ivory â âTo Be Chosen Is to Ruleâ
đŠ CAELUMâBlue & Silver â âSee All. Say Little.â
đ VIREXâEmerald & Black â âEndure. Adapt. Survive.â
đïž LUCENâWhite & Rose-Gold â âTo Be Good Is to Be Safeâ
A woman in ivory robes stepped forward, her voice carrying without effort.
âToday,â she announced, âyou are not judged by what youâve doneâbut by what you will endure.â
One by one, names were called.
Students stepped onto the dais and pressed their palms to a thin, gilded plate etched with feathers. The metal glowed, flaredâand chose.
âAurelion.â
Cheers, polite and sharp.
âCaelum.â
Applause, restrained.
âVirex.â
Murmurs. Curiosity. Wariness.
When my name echoed through the hall, my pulse thundered in my ears. I stepped forward, the floor cold beneath my shoes, and placed my hand on the plate.
It was warm.
Too warm.
The gold light spread slowly, like hesitation.
Then the banner unfurled.
đïž LUCEN.
A soft ripple passed through the roomânot disappointment, not excitement. Something quieter.
Expectation.
I exhaled, unsure why my chest felt both lighter and heavier at once.
From the front row, I felt eyes on me.
Watching.
Naomi didnât react immediately.
He remained seated, chin resting against his knuckles, blue-and-gold eyes fixed on the Lucen banner as it settled back into place.
Lucen.
Interesting.
A smile tugged faintly at his mouthânot amused, not pleased. Curious. Like heâd just watched a card flip he hadnât expected, but very much intended to keep.
Mock exam season is kicking my ass hard. So Iâm projecting my issues onto Langris.
Heâs modelling my fit for this exam season - I put a thick turtleneck under my school shirt for warmth couse the teachers keep the door into the gym(itâs our exam venue) wide fucking open. Thereâs literally a small pile of snow there by the end of the day. Itâs minus fucking twenny degrees outside wdym the door is open. I swear to god itâs colder in there than outside dude. Why are we paying taxes for central heating if weâre not using it. What is this.
At least we donât havta wear blazers in there man. They manage to both feel suffocating and way to thin for any weather
In his right pocket is a calculator and left a shit tone of pens couse the teachers ran out of spare ones on day 1. Also a see through water bottle w no label couse das the rules. No pencil cases
I tend to finish at least 20 min early on all tests, not counting math, so I either end up napping of looking at the wall popping my joints. The twisty back crack thing is a fucking blessing dude.
New Langris hc: he cracks n pops his joins (fingers, back, toes, knees) constantly. I think billy ( cap. Vangence) would be one of those people that get realy grossed out by it so âgris does it even more than he would habitually around him after the elf thing.
Yes, I know, it's a typical au, but I found it interesting)
This is a student AU where there are first-year students (Tommy, Tubbo, Drista, Ranboo), upper-year students (Dream, Sapnap, George, BBH, Antfrost), and teachers (Philza, Mamza, Shlatt, Quakity, Technoblade)

In an attempt to distract himself (and pad his resume), he starts writing articles for one of the school newspapers. Unfortunately, he's assigned to write about art (and one art student in particular, one that he can't stop thinking about) even though it's something he knows nothing about.
