#strugglestories
I flip on my LG Optimus and see on my facebook newsfeed another long text status describing the dungeon of their own design that some individual has created. Â The faces change, as do the characters involved but the narrative normally remains the same. It is always some mindless drivel concerning breakup with former mates, âbeing tired of dramaâ, and âpeople not keeping it #100â. In another corner of my social media world I have an individual launching a hilarious assault on an instagram photo I posted where he is alleging that I am of the upper crust of society, the ultimate bourgeois who dared to âhit on an ex girlfriendâ of his âdegenerate, buttrotâ friend. I canât believe it, it is too hilarious to bear but no this is real. THESE PEOPLE EXIST AND THEY BREED DAMNIT. Furthermore this individual goes on a litany of things heâs never had which in the grand scheme of things arenât that luxurious and his diatribe turns to how hard his life is (as opposed to how âeasyâ mine is). I am tempted to inform his that to solve the condition medically known as âthe buttrotâ one must merely clean their asshole better when bathing and use Monkey Butt Powder (Brought to you by Wal-Mart). But this person wants no salvation; their desire is to ultimately allow the buttrot to overcome them. In essence become the buttrot and gather disciples for this new horrid movement. And why? To make their life appear more gritty, more visceral, more â#realâ. The similarity to these two stories is that in our modern manufactured reality of vapid #selfies, #belfies and #shoutouts we have reached a point in society where it seems the end goal with social media is to simultaneously broadcast a message of âmy life is harder than yoursâ and âIâm a celebrity worship me through your likes and commentsâ. Â We have creating a vapid void of nothingness with social media. It is a pool of endless narcissism and #strugglestories that separates us by triviality instead of uniting us. To quote reverend OG Bukowski:
âWeâre all going to die, all of us, what a circus! That alone should make us love each other but it doesnât. We are terrorized and flattened by trivialities; we are eaten up by nothing.â-Charles Bukowski
A Civilization more concerned with their petty Facebook and Instagram dramas has no hope of gaining neither the upward mobility nor even the foothold needed to really revolutionize against the true oppressive dilemmas of our modern State Capitalist era. Iâve noticed a depressing trend, one that responsibility is not celebrated among people, and it is even viewed by some to be a trend of âbourgeoisâ lifestyle. Including the individual who led his hilarious assault on my instagram. To people like him if one is responsible with how they handle their working class wages obviously this makes them âbourgeoisâ. If one receives a 15 year old vehicle from their family after having spent almost the last year on a bicycle living in a 1 bedroom apt off minimum wage surely then they are âbourgeoisâ. Never mind the various help this individual has received, or the help most members of society receive from friends and familyâŚ.OBVIOUSLY IF YOU CANâT PICK YOURSELF UP BY YOUR BOOT STRAPS YOU ARE âBOURGEOISâ!!! Divided by nothing, their ability to rebel is effectively neutered when all energy seems to go towards spending their meager scraps from their capitalist masters on pleasantries like drugs, clothing and other consumable goods. Rent goes unpaid, as do debts to one another on private matters. The result is scores of people complaining how âhardâ their lives are and how it is always some other individuals faults for their shortcomings. Thus begins the #strugglestories and the individuals who tell them. Voluntarily creating their own dungeon, they remain under the servitude and oppression of forces beyond the scope of their understanding. More concerned about what âroommate X,Y, or Zâ did to them or what their #bae did to screw them over; they remain ignorant to how their currency continues to lose value by the hands of a Central Bank controlling it, their wages kept at oppressive slave levels due to minimum wage laws being enacted by and for those they should be policing and a government spying on them will all manner of agencies ranging from the NSA to law enforcement agencies utilizing equipment to see through an individualâs house:

There is no hope for these people. There is no salvation. To quote Orwell:
âIn reality very little was known about the proles. It was not necessary to know much. So long as they continued to work and breed, their other activities were without importance. Left to themselves, like cattle turned loose upon the plains of Argentina, they had reverted to a style of life that appeared natural to them, a sort of ancestral pattern. They were born, they grew up in the gutters, they went to work at twelve, they passed through a brief blossoming period of beauty and sexual desire, they married at twenty, they were middle-aged at thirty, they died, for the most part, at sixty. Heavy physical work, the care of home and children, petty quarrels with neighbours, films, football, beer, and above all, gambling, filled up the horizon of their minds. To keep them in control was not difficult. A few agents of the Thought Police moved always among them, spreading false rumours and marking down and eliminating the few individuals who were judged capable of becoming dangerous. No attempt was made to indoctrinate them with the ideology of the Party. It was not desirable that the proles should have strong political feelings. All that was required of them was a primitive patriotism which could be appealed to whenever it was necessary to make them accept longer working-hours or shorter rations. And even when they became discontented, as they sometimes did, their discontent led nowhere, because being without general ideas, they could only focus in on petty specific grievances. The larger evils invariably escaped their notice.â-George Orwell, 1984
Certainly not everyone is not like this, but if one is to believe in any sort of coming revolution I hate to break it to you but this civilization and its inhabitants are a doomed enterprise. Orwell wrote it 1984 that âIf there was hope it lies with the prolesâ but in the novel he showed that there really as no hope for these people to rise up, no escape from the tyranny of that world save death itself. We have reached a similar point in our civilization. People fiddled as Rome Burned for they saw the writing on the granite walls. People today take selfies and snapchat one another as they see the writing on one anotherâs facebook wall. There is no escape.
