I honestly prefer friendships more than romantic pairings but my otps would be Takao x Kai and Hiromi x Boris-looking at the holy content the fandom has brought us-. If I see some more content I have a feeling like Queen x Ming Ming will be added to this list as well. Still, I enjoy other ships a lot too!(the amount of highest quality Yuriy x Kai stuff is amazing) And I can say that my non-Beyblade otp is Zutara.

So this is going to be heavily based on my headcanon of my version of season four, where Mariam goes to Ireland because that’s where the next tournament is taking place. Mariam isn’t there to compete, she’s there to observe and if needs be, seal a few bitbeasts if things go out of control, which she reliably has been informed it will.

So their first meeting happens when Mariam is sitting on a rooftop on the opposite building to the gym that the Blitzboys are training in. She’s been tasked with spying on Kai and he’s joined the BlitzBoys again to get a shot at Tyson and the world championship. And while spying, she finds the B-boys. Of course, Tala’s pretty and that catches her attention but it’s Bryan that draws it repeatedly. He’s not the most handsome man she’s ever seen but he’s built and she feels a healthy dose of lust. But it’s all very clinical and removed because she’s there to do a job. But then Bryan looks directly at her. Which is a surprise because who looks at roof tops? That’s why she uses them to spy. So that unnerves her. But it could just be a freak accident. Still, she’s going to keep an eye on him because he’s more than just brawn.

And Bryan’s first impression of Mariam is that she’s stunning, ridiculously beautiful in a way that’s bound to distract a man. He distrusts that kind of beauty, it can be used as a weapon. And she’s spying on them. That’s suspicious too. But then she shocks him by jumping off the roof. He’s stunned enough to stumble forward, hand pressed to the glass, sure he’ll see her flat on the ground but she just stands on the street smiling up at him and blows him a kiss.

She’s definitely trouble.

Their first proper interaction is in a bar. The Blitzboys are out to blow off some steam (the tournament ratcheted up a notch overnight) and Mariam’s there for the same reason. She’s not there to spy but the boys don’t believe that, especially now they’ve found out who she is. But Tala approaches her, Bryan is beligerent because they don’t know her, and Spencer’s amicable and after a bit of back and forth taunting with Tala, she ends up sitting with them, and somehow finds herself beside Bryan as the lights in the city go out.

I’ve added the below snippet to kind of describe how their first interactions go.

First, thank you so much for the ask! I´ll answer these as good as I can. Since I´m mostly into Beyblade when it comes to shipping I´ll focus on that.

what is your absolute favorite ship? To be honest, I don´t have many ships of my own when it comes to Beyblade. What I mean with that is that I haven´t discovered many by myself, that I end up keeping for a long time. The first one that comes to mind is Mathilda and Sergei. Long ago there was some on the RP that had that ship for a while as I was new, and a time I RPed a Mathilda as well. It grew from there and can´t see myself ship any of them with someone else. Other ships I enjoy is Salima with Kai, Boris together with Rei, and I´ve also faintly touched upon Takao and Yuriy together. Mao and Rick is cute as well!!

what ship do you hate most? Hate is a very strong word haha but I do have a tendancy to like canon ships less, or, for some stupid reason not enjoy when I get ships shoved down my throat = them being very popular. This really changes depending on who writes them. Their headcanons. Always does. I don´t have a specific ship I just CANT stand. I´m thankful for that really.

💎- What was your favorite part?

There are so many wee moments in Saving because it’s basically everything I would want to read in a fanfic and see in a season four of Beyblade where there’s more emphasis on the bitbeasts and Hilary and Ian get starring roles, the girls get friendship moments and Brooklyn finds some modicum of redemption (reluctantly because he doesn’t really think he did anything wrong per se, it was Zeus) more Mystel hanging from buildings, Mariam is a BAMF, Kai is suspicious and overprotective of everyone, Tala just wants Kai to choose a fucking team etc.

But I haven’t actually posted my favourite part yet. It’s written, it will need redrafted but I always refer to it as the Night of the Hunt which is where everything kicks off and no one can ignore what is happening anymore. And Ian has this pivotal moment and it just is so good in my head and I think it’s decent on paper too.

BUT I also have a huge soft spot for the scene where Rei wants to talk to Kai about something important and Tala goes into snarkmaster general mode. I was writing it with my eyes wide the entire time wondering where this was coming from.

“Kai!”

He glanced over his shoulder at the sound of Rei’s voice and raised a hand in greeting.

“Oh great,” Tala muttered, stepping back to allow Rei through.

“Hey Kai, can I talk to you?”

“Should have known this was too good to be true. Hiwatari bonding with his actual team, unicorns must exist,” Tala sniped, thumbs hooking through the loops on his orange cargo pants. The same orange Ming-Ming had admonished him for wearing, guaranteeing it a permanent place in Tala’s wardrobe.

Kai met Rei’s gaze and looked away. What was he supposed to do? Buy Tala flowers? He was an independent person who could hang out with who he wanted - and generally he didn’t want to hang out with anyone.

“Actually Tala, this concerns you too.”

“Oh? You’re getting engaged and want me to be best man at your wedding! Well, I insist on wearing a white suit.”

Bryan snickered, Spencer folded his arms but the way his mouth kept twitching at the corner indicated he was equally amused by Tala’s antics. Kai simply closed his eyes and willed away the world.

“No, could we talk somewhere less public?”

“Sure, let’s all go have a celebratory meal.”

8. Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it. (From Saving Part of the World, chapter 26)

Ian snorted. “We’re not friends.”

Hilary stopped. The movement was so sudden that Ian turned to make sure nothing had happened to her. She stood in the middle of the bridge and dropped her hood to look at him, a furrow forming between her brows. “We could be.”

Right. Sure. He turned away from her again to continue his path. “I don’t need friends. I have my team.”

Footsteps slapping against the slushy pavement told him she was hurrying to catch up. “Well, if you had other friends, you could tell them what your team did. Talking about things is good, Ian. When Tyson upsets me, I always talk to a friend—I talked to you and you helped me see that I was being unfair to the rest of my team. I couldn’t see that myself. Maybe if you talk about—”

“And give you weaknesses to exploit? I don’t think so. You forget Hilary, we’re rivals.”


“No, we are not. Our teams might be rivals in the beydish, but for the important things, my team will always support your team. When Garland injured Tala, Tyson visited him in the hospital because—”

“Don’t!” He barked out the word as he rounded on her, his hands fisted in his pockets to stop them from lashing out. “Don’t mention that,” he continued, voice soft but fierce. “I didn’t get to be there. They stopped me from going and now they’re doing it again. Deciding things and not including me and it’s not fair! I’m not a baby, I’m not a child. I was a soldier in the Abbey just like they were.

I love this scene because it’s the beginning of Hilary and Ian’s friendship which is a really vital part of Saving. I love Ian as a character and I love Hilary and when I started thinking about Saving, I just had this image of the two of them and Amber becoming this little triad of “unimportant” people teaming up to save the world. But I was always worried about whether or not I could truly convey a friendship between two people who are very different personality wise and they’re not even on the same team. I wanted it to be semi-realistic. And it just kind of naturally evolved, and this is a great example of it, because while still being prickly and defensive, he trusts Hilary enough to let down his guard and confess his deepest secret. He loves his brothers, more than anything, but they left him behind and they are still keeping secrets from him. Not for a bad reason, but because they’re trying, in their way, to protect him. And having someone like Hilary to listen and give advice (and he does the same in his own way), is something that I really wanted to put into Saving. To have those moments of friendship in between the action, because without those relationships, why would we care if any of them survive? So yeah, this glimpse into Ian was a long time coming.

15. If you could choose one of your fics to be filmed, which would you choose? Saving Part of the World - it’s got such cool visual moments.

5. What’s a crackship you love? Um, I don’t think I have any crackships. I have non-canon but crack ship is usually a case of you’d have to be high to ship it. And I’m old school enough to still consider that the meaning of crack ship. Non-canon, though, it’s obviously MariamxBryan or I guess we could put AmberxKai as crackship. I could never ever ever happen but in fanfic.

18. Do you have a fic reading/writing routine? Not so much. I mean I write, a lot until I figure out the various puzzle pieces that will make up the rough draft, then refine them a lot untll it starts to click. Then I’ll rewrite until it clicks, send to my ipad and annotate it with the pencil to edit it and then do a final polish until it’s finished. So I guess that’s my writing routine and it serves me well enough. I also tend to have a mug of tea and a candle on to start as well. And I listen to a really random ASMR/Ambience video to get my headspace into writing mode.
