I am listening to Judith Butler's "Who's Afraid of Gender?" And I'm only about 45 minutes in but have already had several eye opening/reaffirming moments in which Butler discusses how anti-intellectualism is inherently anti democratic and removes true discussion of policy and culture from public discourse while simultaneously bringing forth the scapegoat of a gender phantom as the tool for both fascism and even neoliberal policy. I also love how Butler acknowledges this idea of returning to a form of patriarchy which never existed
