Live from your strengths = Feel God’s pleasure
I hadn’t thought about strengths this way before, but I like this reminder from Jimmy Evans & Allan Kelsy in their book Strengths-Based Marriage: there are “natural endorphins that reward you when you use your strengths.”Â
If God made us on purpose with the strengths we have, then naturally we will feel a sense of energizing happiness when we get to use what He gave us. It’s sort of a reinforcement from the Holy Spirit that we are living in the strengths-zone that He implanted in us.Â
The Apostle Paul said, “There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us” (1 Corinthians 12:4-6).
Eric Liddell, the Olympian runner and later missionary to China, said, “I believe God made me for a purpose, but He also made me fast. And when I run I feel His pleasure.”
