There are so many neat old and abandoned houses on the way to Bethany’s house, I stopped and photographed some along the way! So now I can share them with you. This one always catches my eye due to the bay window out front. I sure would like to explore it! I believe the property is still used.
There are many sloughs in the Streeter area.
It looks like this tiny old place is succumbing to one.Â
Old house on a hill.
Clearly the land is still used (the trucks are there) but the house hasn’t been lived in for ages.
This little place catches my eye because, when it’s not a drought, the water creeps so close to the house!
Plus the house is just plain cute. I wish I could see inside!
So there you have it! Some notable homesteads in the Streeter area that catch my eye.Â

In the spring of 2020 I was thrilled that my friend Bethany came to visit her family in North Dakota - because that meant I could see her too! We had a lovely day at her parents’ beautiful farm, and by the end of the day we had driven around and had seen some lovely ND places. We ended with this one.Â
The owner of this big abandoned place lives in another state, far away. Clearly they’ve stopped caring about it long ago. Which is a shame, because it’s really very interesting!Â
I love little details like this tiny attic window.
This house is on the very edge of Streeter, mostly surrounded by countryside. A great location, in my opinion!Â
The house was completely boarded up to the point that it took us a bit to locate the front door. We couldn't go inside. Every spot was boarded over.
Isn’t it grand? Such a big house!
Out back we have the summer kitchen. A neat feature!
The summer kitchen also has a nice view. And it was also boarded up.Â
Here you can see more of that nice view.Â
I wandered out back to the junk pile. You never know what the junk pile contains.
A whole lot of scrap! I didn’t look too closely.Â
I was sad this place was boarded up. I bet the interior is neat! But I’m happy just to see the outside and share it with you all. These big old places should be remembered, not left to rot.Â
