Nutella Strawberry Shortcake Cups

I took two pounds of strawberries, hulled and sliced them into a glass bowl. I added a touch of sugar, some kirsch, and the zest and juice of one lemon. I find that the liquid provided by the kirsch and lemon mean that I don't need as much sugar. I let sit, stirring occasionally for an hour and froze most of them to be used later, but a portion were put in the refrigerator overnight, and served with layers of barely sweetened whipped cream this morning.
