Imagine if she dies in the season 4 finale, but she doesn't commit suicide to "end the cycle", she sacrifices herself to save Max in some way (Max still ends up in a coma tho).

Here's how it could affect season 5, especially two characters, Max and Mike.

Max: she knows Jane died for her and that haunts her.

The reason she's stuck in Camazotz is because everytime she hears the music and is close to escaping, the thought/memory of Jane dying for her to survive, hits her.

Just like how Vecna couldn't go into the cave, Max can't escape because of a traumatic memory. And through the season, she learns to accept that it wasn't her fault, and that's how she wins over the memory and escapes. Not just by her love for Lucas but by letting go of her biggest regret.

Mike: he feels extreme guilt about Janes death and feels like it's all his fault, and he feels guilty about how he treated her and that how he never got to apologise. He's also slowly realising his feelings for Will might be mutual, but he feels like he can't act on them because since he hasn't fully realised it was Will all along, he's scared Will's just a replacement for Jane. You know what that guilt and fear does?

It makes him a target for Vecna

(because Mike being a target of Vecna was a MISSED opportunity). So he's Vecnas main target that season and to defeat Vecna, he not only has to accept his feelings for Will, he also has to accept that what happened to Jane wasn't his fault and he can't change the past, just like Max.

Just a few other changes it could've made:

Everyone is just closer than ever. Apart from some intimate moments, no one is split into small groups for long. And the party is definitely not seperated. Because they know, if Vecna can get Jane, he can get anyone.

Lucas: Oh boy, Max is in a coma, and he now also has to deal with Mike being targeted. And this time, he's not letting the target die. So he's by Mikes side the entire season, and he's the first person Mike just opens up to about everything (which leads to Lucas being a mentor for Mike). When he sees Will and Mike, he sees himself in Will and that makes them have a heart to heart as well.

Dustin: poor guy lost not one, two friends. He would have an interesting arc with being isolated and grieving, but also extra protective of his friends.

Will: Obviously he's grieving his sister. But hear me out, what if he unlocks his powers at the very start of the season, if not the end of season 4? But he struggles with them since he constantly gets reminded of Jane. Robins speech isn't what unlocks his powers, it's what makes him control his powers and save everyone. There's also the entire thing with him and Mike switching roles and he's now the one who has to deal with his situationship being posessed which ultimatly makes him talk to Lucas.

Nancy: she relates to losing a friend. That makes her bond a lot more with the main group, especially after everything with her own family in the hospital. Maybe she talks to Max. She's also very protective of Mike.

Hopper: (oh my... I literally can't deal with the fact he losts TWO daughters😭 #1 reason they shouldn't have killed Jane) he obviously suffers from extreme grief. So I imagine he would just be really protective over Will and Jonathan, even Mike. I'm not sure if it would make sense to bring Kali back if Jane is already dead, but if she did come back, Hopper would be protective and not rude to her.

Again I want to make it VERY clear, I don't want her to die at all, that's not how this post should be seen. It's origins literally comes from me crashing tf out over how shitty her death was handled.

Soon a long debate about how much money you have to pay Lucas to occur, and you guys finally got to agree on how much money you would pay, it was 25 bucks.

You finally got to properly get ready now, without any disturbances or that when you thought, then you heard rocks hitting your window.

You opened your window, annoyed by who was attacking your window, only to find out it was your boyfriend, Eddie.

Eyes brighten up with joy to your boyfriend, and how convenient it of him to come just on time, you rushed downstairs and went outside to see your date.

Eddie decided to have a picnic date with you. It was cute and elaborately planned. It was a fun time. You had your picnic in a field of flowers, the area was beautiful, and you got to make some flower crowns for yourself and Eddie.

The moment you had with Eddie was everything, you really wished you could stay like that forever, but sadly all good things shall come to an end.

You were dropped off by Eddie, and you couldn't just leave him without giving him a kiss, which you did and not even 5 seconds later you were reprimanded by your parents. :D
