#strange maps

just finished the last uketsu book in my collection and i have so much to say about him dude. the last book is “strange buildings” and it is a PERFECT finale to the series. the reader has already come to expect the twists and turns that he throws at us, so the book is lengthened and the story is deepened in order to give us that fresh feeling of being surprised once again. he ties together themes of religion and history and power so creatively so that you have no choice but to look the nasty parts of our world in the eyes and accept them. the only answers to his mysteries are horrible truths about our world and THATS why i love it. “strange pictures” delves into psychology and sociology as it breaks down the core concepts of being human. “strange houses” does the same but with a focus on architecture and cultish phenomenons that build up after years of family traditions. “strange buildings” expands on both of these, allowing us to dive in with the author and be forcefed the truth right along with him. it deconstructs religion so wonderfully while still fitting into our current world. he guides the reader along, giving us any crumb of information we could ever desire and yet at the end i’m still shocked at the final chapter. but i’m also a big nerd and i love books with examples of blueprints and drawings that explain things at a depth you’ll never need. shoutout uketsu and i’m super excited for “strange maps” to be translated. i cannot wait to find out more about kurihara!!!!!!!
