You can use this if you want: How about photographs? The old idea that taking a photo of something captures a bit of that thing's soul or essence. You should check out information about Kirilian photaography as well. That would be a very cool system of monster capturing. You'd then be able to summon forth the monsters with the photographs.
That does indeed sound interesting. I’m not sure if I would use it for my creatures, but it is something to consider.
That said, it seems like you’ve put some thought into this idea yourself, so I think it’d be interesting to see what you could develop with it :p
