there’s not a single thing i don’t like about her except for how some people in the fandom treat her

idk i just really relate to her, she’s not this “special” companion that half the fandom says she is, she’s just clara, she’s a 23/24-year-old woman who just finished uni and doesn’t know what to do except take care of her friend’s children and daydream about traveling the world, and she becomes extraordinary, she becomes this “mystery worth solving” because she travels with the doctor. and isn’t that what happens with every companion? they have mostly normal lives and then the doctor comes in and changes it and shows them the universe and they become extraordinary. it always bugs me when people complain that clara is too “special” mainly because what’s the difference between her jumping into the doctor’s timestreams and rose taking the time vortex into her mind? or donna becoming the doctor-donna? or amy remembering the doctor back into the universe?or martha walking the entire earth and making everyone on earth come together to save the doctor? (and note that i’m not saying you were complaining, this is me jumping on my soapbox)

i love that she’s so kind, she’s so caring, she trusts the doctor but it’s not a blind trust—there’s still this part of her that knows not to trust him completely; she’s lively and fun and at the same time full of wonderful, heart-wrenching, devastating, beautiful emotions. she’s had to grow up sooner than a lot of people because she lost her mother at 16. i love that she doesn’t just move in to the tardis like most companions and that she and the doctor have wednesdays as their ‘day’ together. i love her selflessness—she was willing to do something that she thought would kill her just to save the doctor and in turn, save the millions and billions of lives that the doctor has saved. her storyline isn’t that she was born to save the doctor (i hate that line)—she met the doctor, found out all the good he has done for the universe, all he has been through (firm believer that she heard every word he said to the ‘sun god’ in the rings of akhaten), and she knew to save him to save everyone. 

idk i just have a lot of feelings about clara? she’s my favorite companion.
