1) It is finished! All 50 episodes are available on Netflix and Viki. Opinions on the subtitle quality varies but most agree the latter is better.

2) See here’s the thing. The beginning (let’s just assume you watch it in chronological order, I did a post breaking that down) is fun, cute, some action, a little drama, a little romance. Fun! Then around episode ... I wanna say 13-14, bad things start to happen and it becomes enormously angsty. The angst comes and goes for a little while and then ramps up and goes straight into angst with a capital “holy hell show you need to chill because I have been crying for half an hour straight” territory. And then around episode 33 it’s like “okay, that was an experience, let’s ease back and let our boys solve some mysteries and sass their elders now” pretty much until the end (with some angst sprinkled in here and there).

Is it worth it? Absolutely, in my opinion. Do characters die? Yes. Will you cry? Almost definitely. Does it have a happy ending? For the main couple, yes. (It does this weird fake out where it makes you think it’s going to end ambiguously but then is like psych! just kidding! they’re gonna live happily ever after.) (I say ‘for the main couple’ because there are some characters it does not end as well for, and these are characters you probably will like, and it might be a little sad, but overall it ends happily. I’m very sensitive about such things and I was fine with the way it ended.)

3) That depends on how you define it. In the book, it’s 100% canon. They be fuckin’. In the show, it’s .... subtexty, because of Chinese censorship. There’s a good breakdown on that here. Do they kiss or come right out and say ‘I love you’? No, but they absolutely do not need to. It’s very clear that they’re in love, there’s a public declaration of devotion, they basically went right up to the line that the censors would allow and played chicken with it.

Not saying that’s impossible, but what holiday? I don’t remember it ever being indicated that it was a holiday when the fire happened. Although winter break for college students does tend to go on longer than high schools, so if the fire took place during January that would be possible. That said...

stormlyht –– I always figured that Laura was picking Derek up, or something like that, but reading the line, it doesn't seem like he'd say that if she was just there for him.  It really only makes sense if she was there in a school capacity as well.  I've always headcanoned Laura as either about to be in college or in her first year in college, but this makes me feel like she must have been going to school at the same time, so I'd put her as senior in that case.

I agree with this. Just the way it’s phrased... I feel like if Laura were picking Derek up from school he’d have said that. “Six years ago, my sister was picking me up from school... and our house caught fire.” Or even “my sister and I were at the high school.” I dunno. I guess saying they were at school wouldn’t be inaccurate, but the implication still seems off. They weren’t “at the school,” just the physical building. They were at school, which feels like they belonged there, they were going there, they were finishing up their school day (or after school clubs, etc). It’s a teensy tiny nitpicky linguistic distinction, but that’s just what it sounds like to me.

that being said I feel like lwj is like “listen I’ll do this for my husband-to-be, or possibly I will give this book to Wen Qing so she can do this for my husband-to-be, but anyone else who tries to tell me about their problems is going to get an earful of nothing”

Oooh, yes, okay.

1) The first argument Lan Xichen managed to win against Lan Qiren was when Lan Qiren thought that Lan Wangji was spending too much time in the jingshi (their mother’s old rooms) and tried to forbid him from going there anymore.

2) Meng Yao’s mother left the pearl token that Jin Guangshan gave her to the madam, in the hopes that she would accept it as recompense for the years she took care of Meng Yao, so that she would not force him to work at the brothel (but of course she did anyway).

3) Lan Wangji absolutely could not believe his brother thought he should get married at all, and complained about this very seriously to his rabbits.

Oooh, I like the idea of it going dormant until it found a person to go to. But what if for true there were no more Hales, then what? Honestly I figured the power would go to someone else in the pack, so in this case Isaac. (also, yes, Jackson… totes Peter’s son, and totes would just be like, WTF just happened to me???)(I’m supposed to be working on a different story, why are you giving me plot ideas?)

See, for me it’s always just been in my mind that the power will pass to family members, not someone bonded through biting. So that would mean that either the power would keep on seeking until it found anyone at all related (ex: some fifteenth cousin three times removed off in Ireland who’s never heard of the Hales) or, if truly no one at all related existed or if they were just too distantly related for the connection to reach, the power would just dissipate. End of the Hale line, end of the Hale power. It never occurred to me as a possibility that Isaac (or... hm, Jackson? As Derek’s first technical beta?) would be able to inherit the power.
