I want to tell you about an amazing historical fiction series I am currently reading. Following the link will take you to the blog page of author Ginny Dye.
Ms. Dye is the author of a number of different book series. The Bregdan Chronicles series was originally scheduled to be five books long. However, Ms. Dye is in continuous communication with her readers. And we have told her we don’t want this series to end, at least not at five books.
The first book, entitled Storm Clouds Rolling In 1860-1861, was published April 12, 2010. As of this writing, Looking to the Future 1868-1869, published Sept. 26, 2017, is the eleventh book of the series with #12 scheduled for release in the Winter of 2018 with an expected title of Horizons Unfolding.
The series is set in the antebellum South, specifically Virginia in 1860 immediately prior to the election of Abraham Lincoln as the 16th President Of The United States of America.
The series is called The Bregdan Chronicles after The Bregdan Principle, which is The Bregdan Principle Every life that has been lived until today is a part of the woven braid of life. It takes every person’s story to create HISTORY. Your life will help determine the course of history. You may think you don’t have much of an impact. YOU DO. Every Action you take will reflect in someone else’s life. Someone else’s decisions. Someone else’s future. Both GOOD and BAD. (Bregdan is an Old English verb that means to braid or to weave.) It is exciting to read a book series that is being added to as you read!! I purposely read the books as slowly as I can so there is not as much time b/w when I finish the last book to be published and when the next one comes out. Which is REALLY hard bc from the very first sentence of Book #1 to the first 100 pages of Book #11 (where I am currently) these books are page turners, you get swept up in the story and begin to live with it! Ginny Dye has done impeccable research on the Civil War, uncovering tidbits not commonly taught in traditional history classes. As a former history major myself this is undoubtedly at least one of the reasons I am so attracted to this series. Plus, Dye has a gift for weaving very well rounded characters into a moving version of historical events so surreal even the reader is left wanting of knowledge of what to do. I’m not on commission to Ms. Ginny Dye or anything like that so whether or not you read this series makes no difference to me. I’m just trying to give you a suggestion of an incredible book series that I believe any historical fiction fan will fall in love as I did. Stay tuned to your favorite blog, Iversen’s Insights, in the near future, bc I will be doing two things in one. I decided I’m going to start sharing stories that will appear in my book, My Luther College Experience (1982 - 1986+): Transformed by a Different Journey. I’m doing this because I finally realized it will help me save a lot of time. I have to get what I’ve written thus far typed into the computer somehow anyway. And I am trying really hard to do my blog a minimum of 3-4 times/week ... what better way to do both at the same time? Besides, maybe if the stories I share are some how attractive enough, perhaps I’ll be stirring up interest in my book? It seems like a win-win to me.
