I fucking hate pre-builts...
So the better half needed a new graphics card, and a new power supply was necessary as well, due to shitty PS's in pre-built comps.
Tonight will be a lesson in why to not buy a prebuilt. Â
So I got all the parts put into the computer, and got it situated as best I could. Â Turns out the old case was too small and air flow was in the negatives. Â Inside of the case got up to about 85C and she said Diablo III was "melting" on the screen. Â So we went to Frys to get a new case, found a good one, and brought it home. Â Got all the parts in over 2 hours except for the front panel connectors. Â Took a break for pizza and came back to plug them in.
No configuration in the new case worked. Â None. Â I plugged those things in everything short of my cat's ass. Â Nothing.
So after 4 hours of research, I learned that HP scrambled up the connector pins so that ONLY their case would work with this product. Â No other case will work. Â So now I have to take it somewhere and have them disconnect the cable from the previous case, and put it in the new case, or have them strip the wires and build a new plug.
I feel like Neville in HP2.. hanging from the chandelier saying.. "Why is it always me?"
And on top of this, I've done none of the work I brought home, none of the stuff I brought home, my desk is a mess, and my storage area is full of shit. Â So yea. Â And I'm not one bit mad with her, she didn't plan this or anything like that. Â She's already told me that had she known it would be all of this, she'd never have done it.
So yeah... I'm majorly pissed at shit like this. Â It is fucking ridiculous that any company would do this. Â I know why.. to make more money. Â But it's still ridiculous.
And yes.. I buy Apple so I don't have to deal with this shit. Â It breaks and I take it to the geniuses and say "FIX IT!" Â And it gets fixed. Â Period.
