About Roblox's new guidelines...
//Roblox announced some new guidelines on how you use Roblox characters for commercial use, and they ain't good. Basically, the guidelines state that you can't use blocky Roblox characters in promo stuff, nor can you use R15 characters. Roblox still allows you to use Rthro in promo material, which is what makes this a big problem.
Greenlegocats123 already made a video addressing this, so I recommend watching that before reading this.
I made this post to go over my concerns about how this affects me, so I won't cover all of that video.
//I feel like this affects me the worst since this isn't even a game, it's an ask/RP blog that I spent a lot of time putting together. I use images of Ragdoll Universe characters to represent my Ocs and since Ragdoll Universe has no Rthro compatibility, that means I either need to represent them using Rthro characters (hell is gonna freeze over before that happens) or just don't use the images at all. I'm screwed either way.
//This problem also screws me over since it says nothing about R6. Even if I were to somehow make my Ocs R15 characters, their charm is in their blocky appearance, which I can't use thanks to these guidelines. The definition of heavily customized is too vague, which doesn't help.
//This problem screws me over because Roblox has kept the definition of "commercial use" vague. Ads and Promo material count, but what does that mean for the posts I make using images of Roblox characters? Do they not count because I don't make money off of them? If I ended up doing commissions, would those count since I make money off of it? The definition of Commercial Use is too vague.
//Now as for what this means about the future of this blog? Well, I'm gonna keep using Roblox character images anyway, since I don't really make any money off of this, and I doubt Roblox is gonna waste their time harassing every single person who makes money off of showing R6 and R15 characters in their content.
