We hiked Donut Falls, our first time ever hiking it in the winter! It did not disappoint, Magical and BeaUTAHful are the only ways to describe it. It's definitely harder to hike in the snow but if I can do it, anyone can! I highly suggest spikes (love my @kahtoola microspikes) and snowshoes weren't necessary but would've been nice from the actual trailhead on. The gate is closed for winter so you hike in from the main road which makes it approximately 3.5 miles round trip. Our kids had a blast and hiked like pros. If you're worried your kid won't make it, bring a sled you can pull them on and make sure you have a long enough rope(most sleds don't come with a long enough rope) to comfortably pull them. The sled will be double the fun on the way back down. See part 2 for those pics! Because I feel like I've mastered layering for Dragon, I figured I'd share what he wears to stay warm and dry for 8+ hours of outside snow play: Base layer: wool or synthetic, we love @cuddlduds @thedoodlepants I wish we had @ellaswool tubes which can be used as a mid layer too. Mid layer: fleece or wool, we use @obermeyer and @childrensplace fleece pants and tops. Waterproof outer layer: we use @Oaki rainsuit or @janandjul fleece lined pants and coat (they also have a fleece line suit but only up to 4t). Wool socks: @smartwool Snow boots: @columbia1938 or @stonzwear Waterproof mittens: #stonz, #janandjul and @veyokids (perfect for babies and younger toddlers!)
