Ough I am really enjoying writing the Stonekeepers. Once I started digging into artistic traditions, it really made the old Bunyip seem so... bland. OWoD really treated them too much like 'tragic savages' with very little attention to either developing a niche in Garou society in incorporating indigenous culture. They're narratively designed to die at colonizer hands, and it sucks so fucking much.
My current design for the Stonekeepers shows them as record keepers, observers, and historians of the Garou, dedicating their lives to artistic pursuits, as well as shadowing famous Garou to record their stories. The idea is that the War of Tears was partially ignited by colonizer Garou demanding to revise their own histories, furious that their failures had been recorded as well, and resolving to simply destroy the records rather than allow their shame to be known.
Also, getting to research Indonesian, Oceanian, and Australian artistic traditions is a treat. It's absolutely gorgeous stuff
As a lil treat for yall, have a Gift I designed for them: STONEKEEPER TRIBAL GIFTS
TOTAL RENOWN 3
CARVER’S CLAWS
The werewolf’s nails lengthen and harden into sharp, spike-like tools, enabling them to perform a number of tasks with them. They are too brittle to be used in combat, but they can be used to pick locks, carve stone, knit yarn, and perform a myriad of other tasks. An art-spirit teaches this Gift.
Renown: Wisdom
Cost: 1 Willpower
Action: Minor
System: The werewolf can elongate their nails into long ivory spikes that can fulfill the role of any number of tools. They can make any Craft, Larceny, Survival, or Medicine test that requires specialized tools with only these claws, and can add their Wisdom as bonus dice to the roll. While this Gift is active, the Garou cannot use their hands or claws to deal damage. This Gift can be used only in homid and glabro forms.
